Collection of pulpy stories that claimed to be upbeat or optimistic science fiction— that's how the editor has described this lot. Most of them were readable. Best of the lot were John Linwood Grant's 'An Age of Reason' and William Meikle's 'The Needs of the Many'. The rest placed excessive emphasis upon trying to entertain the reader, hurting the literary style and characterisation in the process.
Overall, I found it to be a good collection.
