Loved this second book by Jack Ellison!. I would classify this is an Erotic Crime Novel. The story revolves around the crimes. The romance is hot and naaasssty sweet, but it's secondary to the plot.

This book was not quite what I was expecting. I have read the first book in the series and really liked it but, for me, this did not live up to Big Hard Bodyguard. The characters succumbed to insta-love and insta-sex and Charlie was so far up himself that I found it hard to like him. The main things going for him were that he was tall and handsome and liked to wear "crisp white shirts". Abi seemed to be a strong woman but turned into a melting puddle with one look at him and that just didn't ring true.
In the first book the main characters had time to get to know each other and the story and action was better too. I liked Axel and Chloe very much. Their feelings were quite clear from the start but grew over time and their relationship seemed a lot more realistic.
What I did like about the book is that it actually had a story, unlike some, and the action was good and definitely written by a man. Fighting, shooting, swearing - all these spice up the book for me. On the strength of these things and the whole of the first book, I will be reading the next book in the series and keeping my fingers crossed.

Another stellar entry from Jack Ellison. It was a no brainer to volunteer to read and review this ARC. I immediately liked Alpha Male Detective Charlie Storm in the first paragraph where he is admiring his "alligator boots". Arrogant and cock-sure, he knows he has certain skills and proves them in this story. He is sexy and built like a mack truck. In his past, he has had to go undercover to bust notorious drug dealers and had to do some shady things to accomplish that.
Storm is a rare breed of cop. Above board and honest, he gets the job done. Events occur which has Storm reliving his past dealings with drug dealer Mickey....the one who got away.
In comes Abi who he meets at a local bar hangout. He finds out that she is Mickey's ex, but she has cleaned up her act and desires to live a normal life. For Abi and Storm it was instant attraction. Charlie and Abi work together to take down her ex, but also in the mix they end up falling hard for each other.
This story is fast paced and keeps you on the edge until the final showdown. Highly recommend....

Jack Ellison's second novel had me hooked from the very first page!
Sexy suspensefully twisted storyline that was an imaginative combination of heavy-hitting police drama and an insta-all connection with an Alpha'd up swoon-worthy Detective Charlie Storm whose on the right side of the law tactics does not mean he isn't down for getting dirty when the time is right- and a holds her own, sassy, ready to take on the word Abi- these two meet through her friend Danny, who is also his buddy in the department-Charlie and Abi also have someone else in common, her ex-boyfriend Mickey, Charlie wants him and the drugs he's bringing back to their town gone, Abi just wants his threating, abusive no good a@@ gone period.
Passion connects them; a greater cause unties them, will love keep them together?
Action packed, humor-filled sexy sweet read! I really enjoyed this fast-paced goodness!
I would definitely suggest checking this book out!

Great story about detective Charlie Storm trying to bring down drug dealer Mickey O'Neill. A few years ago Charlie went deep undercover to infiltrate the O'Neill biker gang who was flooding the streets with high quality meth. He was able to bring the organization down with the exception of Mickey. Years later Mickey is back trying to restart the organization. Abi is Mickey's ex girlfriend who fell under his spell while still a teenager. She's now clean, working hard, & trying to build a better future for herself. Out of the blue Mickey returns wanting her back.
Abi & Charlie officially meet through a mutual friend, but Abi remembers seeing Charlie around while he was working undercover. When she discovers that Charlie is actually a detective who brought down the O'Neill's she gives him a chance & sparks fly. They then begin to work together to try to bring Mickey down. Charlie & Abi are great together & have high levels of steam. Enjoyed this story!

Charlie Storm is a detective that is working hard to get his town clean. He was worked hard to move up the ranks in the department to detective by doing all kind of crazy things. He is trying to find why the O'Neill style Meth is back.
Abi is a hard working waitress/bartender who has been clean for a number of years before her ex decides to make an unexpected visit. Threatening her to keep quiet and to have some fun on him. Running into her good friend Danny while working at the bar one night, Abi meets Charlie and is worried he recognized her as Mickey's ex, but instead finds him attractive and wants to get to know him better.
Charlie and Abi develop a friendship/relationship that makes Mickey upset and he tries to make life difficult for them both. I loved how Charlie is determined to save Abi and his town from the nasty O'Neill and the dirty cops.

Storm is a great read! Jack Ellison has a way of writing his characters and the storyline that keeps you intrigued. Charlie and Abi have great chemistry along with great secondary characters that help make the story great. The twists and turns and the suspense will keep you turning the page. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

A fast-paced story full of drama, suspense, and romance. Good storyline that is well written and developed which flows smoothly. Charlie and Abi are good, strong characters who meet through a mutual friend and have instant chemistry. Charlie vows to protect Abi from her drug dealing ex.

I got his book in exchange for a review Detective Charlie Storm is looking to take down Mickey for dealing drugs in town. Abi, mickey's ex- to earn money. girlfriend, is trying to go straight and working two jobs. The author makes a good suspense erotic love story !
