Faith Franklin is over the moon about the grand opening of Paradise Falls, a beautiful nature preserve she’s helped bring to the community. Between the gorgeous surroundings, the friendly people and the majestic animals, nothing could ruin this day!
Well, almost nothing.
One of the preserve’s staff members has been found murdered, and there seem to be countless leads to follow. From personal drama to suspicious attendees at the celebration, Faith isn’t sure where to start. And, with the deputy sheriff warning her not to interfere with his investigation, she may not get the chance anyway.
Too bad, because there’s a lot more to this case than meets the eye…
I'm a mother, wife, homemaker, pet lover, teacher, student, reader, writer, drinker of tea & wine (depending on the time of day) and sleep-deprived dreamer. I live in Syracuse, NY, with my husband, Doug (also a writer with books available on Amazon), our three children and too many furred & feathered friends to list!
This was a quick read. In this one Faith's boyfriend is opening up a garden. Unfortunately, they find a dead body and it happens to be Nathan's friend. Now Faith tries to figure out who is behind it. Luckily they catch that person and all is well.
This story takes place in Florida. It involves a botanical garden, murder, students, and a political campaign. The story didn't go the way I thought it would. It didn't end the way I wanted it to. I was hoping the killer would be someone else. I thought that person was too obvious.
I thought the book was well written, this one is a little sad but that's OK I think if you like cozy mysteries, you should read this series and as a bonus, there are usually a nice recipe at the end of the book
Nathan is getting ready to showcase his dream creation, a botanical garden tourist attraction and Faith is preparing to open a second restaurant, Eat With Faith. Today, Nathan is giving Laura's troubled teens a "soft opening" preview of the park. When they reach Nathan's pride and joy, the Secret Garden, the joy turns to horror when they discover that Robert "Robbie" Lewis, Jr. has been killed.
Robbie is the son of a state senator and one of Nathan's best friends. Unfortunately, Detective Tyler Lynch jumps to the conclusion that the murder must have been committed by either one of the teens who had a troubled history or by Nathan. His logic is that the police always look at family and friends as primary suspects.
Who killed Robbie? Why was he killed? Will Nathan and Faith be able to save their garden paradise? Will the pools area open as a tribute to Robbie, as Nathan plans?
This book starts much slower than the previous books in the series, but still has plenty of twists and surprises. The story is wonderful with lots of different personalities and locations. There are times when the multitude of details slow the story a bit.
As always, the Slice of Paradise books provide enjoyable reading material with loads of information that you may not find elsewhere.
The biggest issue with series such as “A Slice of Paradise” is that it takes longer to write the books than it does to read them. Fortunately, Nancy McGovern does a great job of keeping the time between stories to a minimum.
Nathan is doing a "soft opening" for his waterfalled-paradise tourist attraction. Faith is there along with Laura and her emotionally troubled teenage clients. Everything is going well until they reach The Secret Garden area, there they find their friend Robbie murdered! Who would want to kill Robbie? He loved everyone and everything. Could it be due to his father being a state senator? Then someone else is attacked later on. What is going on here? Is someone trying to ruin Nathan's dream business? You will need to read the book to find out the who and the why. You will be surprised! I know I was. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this story. The review is my own opinion.
Nathan and his girlfriend, Faith, were about to open Paradise Falls, a botanical tourist attraction. Nathan’s good friend, Robbie, worked in the garden area by the pool. We read about a murder, an attempted murder and blame placed on the innocent. When the guilty party was revealed, it was not a surprise. This had a lot of characters, and it took me a little while to figure out who was who. It is not a long story. If you don’t have a lot of time, and you like mysteries, you should add this to your wish list
This is a well written and very enjoyable read. The characters are well defined and interesting. After the murder of a special friend Faith and Nathan are trying to find out who is responsible. There are accusations being made but when the murderer is found out, it is a complete surprise to everyone, especially the reader!!
I loved the story it is a real good cozy mystery, I love Nancy and Cyra's I think that co-writting these books has made for a great cozy read. I don't take my word for it read it yourself. nd remember at the end of the book a nice surprise waits for you
This is the best one yet! Nancy McGovern has a great knack for writing that pulls the reader in to the end. Do not miss this series and you will be a very be a very happy reader. Nancy has a rare talent that gets you to know the characters and keeps your interest until the last page!
I think this was only the second time I was completely correct about who did it. I knew who it was almost immediately and I’m shocked I was actually right. I’m sad this is the end of Slice of Paradise because I wanted more stories with Faith, Laura, and Nathan. A nice epilogue would have added some nice closure about what happens with the relationships and cafes
This was very disjointed and had red herrings that didn't even develop enough to be possibilities. Just throwing snippets together. Also so!me typos/missing words that messed with the overall flow.
I love Faith and Nathan. I enjoyed the story. I do wish that this series was written closer together. I had to remember what had happened in the previous books. Please try to write the books closer together.
You'll enjoy this mystery set back in good old Paradise. Once again, Faith, Laura and Nathan are teamed up to solve this latest puzzle. A whole new set of aggravating but lovable characters are added to make this mystery very interesting. Just gotta love it!
A murder has happened at a new business in town who would do such a thing and to a senator's? Nathan Faith, & Laura are trying desperately to find the killer and help a group of youth learn to find their place in the world. A few errors with formatting but a nice read.
This is a well written book with a good plot and believable characters. A murder presents multiple suspects but is finally solve. This murder is the catalyst for good.
decent, but the narration is AI and not great As Faith's café, Slice of Paradise, thrives, she becomes entangled in a new investigation when a local resident is found dead under suspicious circumstances. These books were great to listen to at night. Put me right to sleep.
