About the author

Scarlato grew up in a small suburb of Chicago, where his love of a good story was cultivated by shows like “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Twilight Zone.” A bibliophile from the moment he learned to read, he began weaving together his own tales at an early age. The absurdity that accompanies the transition from childhood to adulthood only enriched his already profound creativity.

He married his high school sweetheart in 2010 and they live with their daughter, Sophia, and their cat, Bandit.

You'll be hooked from the first line.

It's no secret that Roberto Scarlato  is one of my favourite authors and narrators. His books are captiving, his writing descriptive and his storyline unique and orinigal that have all the makings of a Hollywood film.

Fall Where They May is a short thrilling story about Michael Jakes. Who discovers that what may start out as flirty fun to impress a young woman he has just met, has consequences that even he couldn't dream of.

I loved this short story from beginning to end and I hope to hear more stories with other characters from this book as I think they all have a story or two to tell. 5 star read.

Did he jump … did he fall … or was he pushed? In “Fall Where They May”, Retired Detective Michael Jakes is … uh strongly “encouraged” to find out … AND, if he doesn’t … Well, that retirement … might just become permanent! This novella length story is mind blowing, edge of seat, twisty perfection, and I LOVED every second! The pace is fast, the flow smooth, the plot intriguing, the characters quirky and delightful! This throughly enjoyable story came vibrantly ALIVE through fabulous narration, making EVERYTHING perfect! Five fantastic stars perfect across all categories and I want more!

This was very different from what I’d normally read. But Roberto is new to me and I’ve enjoyed listening to some of his other ALC’s. So I thought I’d give this a try. Honestly, it’s not my style, the stone didn’t really interest me. The card thing was very original, but I did love the fact that the woman cursed him to find out who killed her cousin. It was a very interesting curse to date the least. But as the story and his investigation goes along, he’s keeping up with those cards and getting closer to solving things. But the end, that was awesome. The trickster got a dose of her own medicine. Absolutely loved that ending

I listened to the Audible version of this book.
This is an excellent short listen. I've not listened to any of Roberto's books before but will certainly be looking for more. An ex detective wants a peaceful holiday until a body lands close to him, did he jump or was he pushed? A strange woman, a strange challenge and our hero finds himself to be cursed to do something that was once a kind of party trick of his.... Narration was very good and helped bring a good story to life.

I enjoyed the narration of Michael Karl Orenstein, who brings the drama to your ears.

Retired detective Michael Jakes is looking forward to a relaxing peaceful holiday. But fate has other ideas a body falls close to him. The detective in him need to know if he jump or was he pushed? He soon its a race to find the truth, with a young woman seems to be interested in him.

I really enjoyed not only the story but the narration on this audio about a retired PI who gets cursed to investigate a case and it’s a race against time for him to find the person responsible before he dies. Great introduction to this series of books.

This was a good short listen to an author and narrator that was new to me. The narration really suited the style of the book and I was taken back in years and engrossed into the story. It really worked.

I really enjoyed this story and the shuffling of the cards. I was surprised at the end how he tricked the woman into telling all of her past wrong doings. The narration was great too.

Perfect narration for a good old-fashioned hard-boiled detective novel with noir humour!

This is an easy and fun short listen about a retired detective who comes under a spell to force him to investigate a murder in the hotel he’s staying in. Lots of quirky characters and plenty of dark humour. The narrator’s voice is one I’d associate with this type of story every time.

Fall Where they May gets a solid five stars and I highly recommend this listen.
