These 4 of her older stories stand up pretty well. The most obvious older note being the lack of cell phones! Both the men and women are strong in their own right. The mysteries aren’t terribly hard to figure out, but make an enjoyable read. One funny note-there is a tv show named Empire in one story. Although it’s not the same one as now, it’s still a big, glitzy melodrama.
Each of the stories in this anthology is classic Nora Roberts. No matter how much I analyze the first pages of each book, I cannot figure out how Nora Roberts hooks me into each story within the first two or three paragraphs. The settings, the characters and the action pull me along. I think I’d spend days not sleeping because i don’t want to stop reading.
Each book is a polished story where all the elements come together: the villains are just bad enough with making me uncomfortable, the children are precocious without being obnoxious and the main characters are people I would love to because friends with. With most anthologies, I find myself wanting to rush over some stories that are not my favorites, but not this set. Each one had a detailed description of the uniqueness of the location and ambition and enjoyment of the work the main characters did. The resolution of each problem fit, not just the situation but the characters and their personalities.
Enjoyed these early Nora stories. I started them because one of my first vacations early in my almost adult life was to Ocracoke. I have been back there many times but this story reminded me of how it was there more than 50 years ago. The other 3 stories came along for the ride. Have read many of Ms. Roberts books, and have liked and them all. She just keeps improving kind of like fine wine
Great as always! I love all the twist and turns in her books. Once you start reading you can't put them down. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure and true romance!!.

I have read almost all of JDRobb's books, her AKA name, even collected most and almost cried when we downsized and I had to donate them to my local library. I read her romance series borrowing from my library. Still collecting her books from Kindle, a favorite, favorite author.
not her best work. these hold up pretty well evern though they were written 30 years ago but i fond my self bored with 3 of the 4 books in this set. the art of deception was the best of the 4
I have been a Nora Roberts can for years....and I am 83! She writes to any reader, and for all readers! She has a great heart, and deep knowledge of how life can be, no matter how it started out!
Nora Roberts is one of my favorite writers. She never disappoints. Totally enjoy het trilogies. Writing as JD Robb with her "in Death" series takes you in a different direction, but still just as enjoyable.
All of these books were very good! The last book I really enjoyed and stayed up late one night to try to finish it but just could.not do it. I would highly recommend any of these books especially the last one.
These four tales author Nora Roberts originally published in the mid-eighties stand the test of time. Entertaining stories, great characters, fun to read.
Enjoyed the 4 books gave 4 stars, because only “The Art of Deception” and “Risky Business” were mysteries. “Treasures Lost, Treasures Found” involved a treasure hunt but didn’t have a mystery.
I didn't like the first story but realized that it was a completely different book than I had been reading lately. So I plowed on. Each book got better until the fourth book which was very good. I'm glad I read all four and hope you will too. Happy Reading!
Really disappointed ☹️ I like Nora Roberts books but I bought the box set expecting 4 mysteries not 2 romance books. The first 2 had no mystery at all.

3.5 stars, rounded up. I was so looking forward to giving this collection a solid 4 stars. The women are all strong and independent, and the men complement the rather than dominating them. The settings are also a bit unusual, with enough well-researched detail to make them interesting without bogging down the narrative.
Unfortunately, all of these strengths disappeared part way through the last book in the set. It contains several off-putting technical errors (for example, Isla Mujeres is over 50 sea miles from Cozumel - too far for half-day expeditions by boat). Most disappointingly, after a promising start, the hero steamrollers his lady, and she accepts it.
