Beating Bipolar: My Quest for Perspective

Rate this book
An incredible story of jumping over mental health hurdles, Beating Bipolar puts the reader in the front seat for a present-tense ride through the experiences of psychosis, hospitalizations, reckless behavior, and even electro-convulsive therapy. Ian Jones, author of To Play in the Dirt (self-published in 2016), narrates and explains the peculiar experience of losing his mind at college, being put in the hospital, and having to take anti-psychotic, psychotropic medications. Part poetry, part narrative, part logical explanations and conclusions, and all madness, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in mental health issues, in particular Bipolar I.

The book opens in a New York dorm room, at the dawn of an intense psychosis. Plenty of hospitalizations, manic relapses, and unbelievably bizarre behaviors follow. At under a hundred pages in the hard copy, there's no looking away from this rollercoaster until it's all done.

I've read that the world's Bipolar population is equal to that of South Korea. With thousands added to their ranks every year, this is a book for a huge audience.

I hope you enjoy my writing, and find a sense of hope through it.

Sincerely,

Ian Jones
