I love to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since I discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, I ended my nomadic lifestyle to raise my two children. Now, my imagination is my only limitation on where I can go and my writing lets me escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner, and mediator.
If writing wasn't a priority, it would never get done.
I really liked this. I’ve enjoyed Ms. Aicher and her way with developing her characters and exploring relationships within very erotic/sexual settings. Besides the workplace romance’s forbidden aspects, I loved that the main kink of the hero AND heroine is voyeurism and exhibitionism. Ms. Aicher has a way with sex scenes that never neglects the feelings along with the more smutty tingles. She also milks that forbidden office romance angle for every delicious bit of tension and their office party hookup was top notch.
Now, Carson and Avery’s sexual chemistry is strong and the usual things that you expect in an erotic romance are handled well. Ms. Aicher also infuses all those encounters with some good emotional development, so I could believe Avery and Carson are falling for each other. What I loved though is that there is no ignoring the potential power inequality and consent issues - though Avery is not Carson’s assistant, he is an officer in the company she works for, and there are other men in positions of power who are involved in this group sex scene. I like that there’s some real questions being asked and while the answers aren’t always easy, I liked that these concerns were even addressed.
This is an interesting setup for a series, and I’d be happy to read the next, because I want to see a certain CEO meet his match. I’d recommend this for those who love erotic romances with heat and heart.

This author knows how to pluck the passion heartstrings. This world of desire and heat is controlled completely by the men and women who occupy them. Avery yearned to enter this world and Carson was only too happy to help her. Coming together, within the rules those walls dictate, was all about admitting inner desires and watching, feeling them, play out. It was intense and passionate yet the story didn’t pull me in the way I wanted it to. The story was well-written and the characters interesting but something (and I’m not sure what) kept from enjoying it the way I wanted to. Perhaps my mood as this author is one of my favourites. While this read may have not been my favourite that won’t stop me from grabbing the next in the series. ~Diane, 3.5 stars
This new series from talented Ms. Aicher has captured my attention. I revel in the fantasies played out in the Boardroom. This story is where powerful men and women come to play off their dark taboos. It is glorious, the directing of sexual partners as well as the voyeurism. Love it. The alpha men created in this series are the ones who push my erotic button and I just melt. I have a weakness for men in suits who are ruthless yet a strict morale code. This dichotomy makes me want to submit and play in their kinky games.
Seems as if Avery is attracted to and enticed by the same sort of man. When she accidentally walks into a private scene, she is horrified yet aroused. Trying to quietly back away, she is caught by an executive in the company she works for, Carson. Their relationship takes on a whirlwind pace of passion, lust and kinky delights. It is never easy when pleasure is mixed with business. Is it all just a game to humiliate Avery? Can she continue to work with the men she's seen in hot sex scenes? Will they out her? How does one know when to draw the line during work? The blurring between work and pleasure threatens to overwhelm Avery.
Stepping into reality for a bit, this story is an HR nightmare, especially in the current climate of #metoo. The inherent power the men wield because of their position makes it questionable if women are actually able to say no for fear of retaliation. So what is it when these fantasies play out in an erotic romance novel, it is so attractive? I have my theories but for fear of being lynched by an angry mob, I'll keep them to myself.
Stepping back into the fantasy of this series, I love it. I like the direction Ms. Aicher is going and I really like how there is a slight element of danger. I can not wait to see who is up next and to get the back story of the one who created The Boardroom. The prequel novella teaser gives a nice highlight and I want more. This well crafted book is smooth as silk and sexy to boot. Recommended to erotica romance lovers who enjoy power plays in both the boardroom and bedroom.
Lynda Aicher is bringing the Boardroom to your E-Readers in one of the hottest books I have read in a long time. Sex, a compelling storyline and an HEA. Could you ask for anything more?
Carson and Avery. Two people attracted to each other but know that they can’t really act on that. Until one night, one experience. Now all bets are off. Carson will give Avery the experience that she wants. Avery will hope that he gives her more. But, how will Avery react when she finds out all the secrets of the Boardroom? Then there is the concern of if it will affect her position within the company.
Carson knows that he wants more in fact, he wants it all. He wants The Boardroom, he wants Avery with him there, he wants Avery … period. He knows it can work. He just needs to convince Avery that they could have more than voyeurism.
I am loving this series. It has been a while since I have read really good erotica. Lynda Aicher is writing a story that will take your breath away and overwhelm your senses. It was amazing how the storyline intertwined with the sex seamlessly. You couldn’t have one without the other. She’s mastered the art of an erotic sex scene that makes you feel like you are part of the scene. Why? Because she has a way of dragging you right into it. I am looking forward to see who is next in The Boardroom.
After Hours by Lynda Aicher is the First book in "The Boardroom" series. Everything by day is all professional business where Avery works. But one late day she happens upon something else going on in the Boardroom other than business. Avery learns that there is more going on with the company and she if finding it hard to walk away from. Carson from the first time he saw Avery witnessing the 'After Hours' activities he has wanted her. This was a very hot story to the start of what seems like a really hot series!!
‘After Hours’ is a curious read. It’s clearly erotica, where sexual exploration of any kind—where voyeurism initially plays a large part—is done in a boardroom, spearheaded by none other than the chief technology officer, under very strict rules that we aren’t exactly privy to until further on in the book.
It’s seedy and fascinating at the same time to see how something else darker and seductive comes out to play (and the upper echelon of the prestigious office do get busy) when the lights go out after the work day. At the heart of it all, the characters seem to lead double lives that are only unveiled as Avery Fast finally gains access by accident into this hedonistic playground where the garden of delights so to speak, is finally revealed to her. Part glamorous retro porn movie (or at least it seems that way in technicolor) and part noir-ish sensuality, I struggled to find my footing with the characters who seem more enigmatic than relatable.
I didn’t get the entire picture of what the Boardroom was supposed to be at first, though a lot of it seemed to be about commands, control and boundaries, which is probably the paradox of such sexual play just like in ‘Eyes Wide Shut’: freeing yet binding, open but secretive as hell, exploratory yet reined in, highly sexualised but devoid of intimacy. Bottom-line is, it still demands trust, more on one side than the other, until emotions suddenly get into play and rips apart the detachment required in the Boardroom as Avery goes on that twisty journey of sexual awakening.
Does love then, have a part to play in this, considering romance is supposed to underscore the entire story? At the very least, it’s about the various contradictions that Avery has about her own conservative brand of sexuality: the shame of not being able to be the person other than she’s brought up to be even though she’s far from virginal, yet wanting more than just sex with no limits through experimentation in the Boardroom that nonetheless, tethers her with its strict parameters. I don’t feel as though I know Avery or Carson very well by the end of it but the story does lapse more comfortably into the ‘romance category’ when it’s made clear that the Avery still wants the family and the picket fence as the very non-committal Carson finally falls prey to it.
As a result, Avery’s and Carson’s liaison is so far beyond the typical office romance that I’m unclear how to classify it, or rather, I’m still not sure how I feel about the book simply because erotica always keeps me unbalanced no matter how many times I delve into it. ‘After Hours’ does crystallise at the end with a very strong (and perhaps prescriptive) message, almost like the moral of the story that proclaims to all female readers who’ve always complained about the double standards in romance, that women shouldn’t be embarrassed about what they liked about their sexual preferences as Avery comes out of that experience unapologetic and supposedly more enlightened about her sexual self—thanks to Carson.
Stylistically speaking, ‘After Hours’ is well-written, well-paced and done with a deftness that I can appreciate. Lynda Aicher’s a new author to me, but as uncertain as I am about the subject matter and that defiant, feminist message that got me straight in the face thanks to Avery and a secondary character, Aicher makes a huge impression with her prose. It got me past my comfort zone in dealing with open relationships and it’s handled in a way that kept me off-centre the whole time.
Lynda Aicher starts her new erotic romance series The Boardroom with a steamy tale of lust and love in After Hours.
Avery Fast can’t believe her eyes when she goes looking for a missing file after hours in the executive boardroom and comes across a wild sex scene instead. The woman on the boardroom table being pleasured by two men is the stuff from fantasies she won’t even admit to liking to herself, and the man in the dark corner giving commands is sin himself. He also happens to be someone she recognizes, to her embarrassment. She comes to her senses soon enough and escapes – but not without knowing that her eyes might have told a different story than her actions.
Carson Taggert, an executive in a different department at Avery’s company has noticed Avery before, but her intrusion into the scene he’d set up puts her in a different light. He belongs to a secret sex club that arranges scenes in boardrooms across the city, but they have strict rules and non-disclosure agreement that everyone involved must sign to protect the reputations of all involved. As such, he has to seek Avery out to make sure she understands what she’s stumbled upon. He also wants to offer her the chance to join the club, in any capacity she’d want to explore.
Avery comes from a background where this kind of sexual exploration is definitely taboo, but she can’t resist the lure of exploring more with Carson. She’s strictly into voyeurism, which is Carson’s kink too and the scenes he sets up for her drive her wild. But Carson is clear that this is a sex only arrangement, not a relationship. And Avery struggles with the guilt and embarrassment she’d feel if her friends and co-workers knew what she was involved in. Can they overcome their hangups to find in each other the perfect partner?
I love Lynda Aicher’s writing style and after having experienced her super sexy Wicked Play series set in a BDSM club, I hoped she’d deliver something just as exciting here and she definitely did! The angst is minimal, there are no deep dark secrets or traumatic backgrounds, just a man who was burned in a relationship wary of starting something new and a woman discovering a whole new level to her sexuality. It definitely starts on a steamy note with Avery stumbling onto the boardroom scene and the subsequent scenes are just as hot.
The honest discussions that happen between Avery and Carson cover the gamut from the security involved for the men and women involved in the Boardroom to Avery’s challenge to accept that she doesn’t have to feel guilty for exploring her sexual desires. Carson might have the alpha male persona that got him his executive position and has him calling the shots in the boardroom, but he also has quite a sweet side too. He falls for Avery pretty fast (even if he is reluctant to admit it to himself) and the idea of her having playdates with someone other than him make him feel pretty possessive. He makes some choices that he has to answer to later, and Avery makes some mistakes too. In the end they find the compromise needed to restore their trust in each other and there is a lovely happy ending to this steamy romance. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for more in this series!
Interesting read this was, aside from the smoking hot sex, the alpha boss and the whole arranged scene set ups. I liked the two main characters. I didn't like Trevor. I thought he was an ass and a little too uppity for me. Drake was a background character. I liked the premise of the book and yes, I'd definitely read the future books to see what they brought to the table. This is a short read with plenty of smoke and fire. I loved the way he protected her, but at the same time encouraging her to explore her inner desires. I only had one issue and that was for his role in the boardroom and his alpha nature, I thought he was a little too "soft" when it came to Avery. It just didn't fit with Carson's demeanor elsewhere. But still I liked him. Loved Gregory and Tam too. This is a great read and beginning to what I hope will be an interesting series! 4.5 smoking hot stars
**arc from Net Galley and Carina Press in exchange for a fair and honest review**
Heroine needed to lean into her kink. Her swings between being embarrassed and her constant hand wringing to being super excited about participating in scenes only to swing back to being apprehensive and questioning again was exasperating.
4-4.25 stars. This was really good. This is Carson and Avery's story. Avery works for the same large company as Carson, but not in his department. He is one of the higher-up managers and Avery is a mere assistant. They have both thought each other attractive but never really had a reason to interact. One night, Avery is working late and she stumbles upon a sexy menage scene in one of the conference rooms. She is turned on and intrigued and is caught peeping by Carson, who is in the hallway. She runs away, but she can't stop thinking of that night and Carson can't stop thinking about her reaction. So Carson invites her to meet him and he tells her about The Boardroom, which is an organization where people meetup to participate in or watch prearranged sexy scenes together. He offers to introduce her to the world of voyeurism with him. The two begin a sexy relationship that leads to them falling in love.
I really liked the sexy, mysterious vibe of this book. The voyeurism aspect was very hot. There is no sharing or thoughts of sharing outside of their relationship. I liked Carson and Avery. They both were very intrigued and fixated on each other from the first night they met outside the boardroom. Once they got to know each other and started to fall for each other, they fit really well together. Carson especially was very sweet in how he adored Avery. It is a very sexy story, but there is also some very sweet and emotional moments. I liked that Avery discovered herself through opening up to her sexuality. She really blossomed and became more confident in all aspects of her life. The story was pretty serious and somewhat angsty. I liked that, but it could have used a few lighter moments to balance out the drama. I wanted a bit more happy times together after the big conflict at the end and a further glimpse into the future ( ). Still, I did really enjoy Avery and Carson's sexy love story. This was my first book by Ms. Aicher, but it won't be the last. I'm curious about the other members of the Boardroom and I see an opportunity for more stories there, as well.
It's after hours and the boardroom becomes a sexual playground by invitation only. Avery walks in a scence, and Carson wants her to stay. A little drama, lots of hot voyeurism and hotter sex, and a sweet little romance. Her BFF was great. I'm hoping Drake is getting the next book.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is formally the first book in the series, but there is a 0.5 book called Done Deal, which I would highly recommend you read first. It sets out the basis of the Boardroom and introduces the main players.
In this story Avery gets an unexpected introduction to the Boardroom, but finds that her interest is most definitely piqued. The problems are twofold - how it will affect her work place relationships and how will she overcome her conservative upbringing. oh, and maybe a third, how can she keep it to just about sex when she definitely has nascent feelings for Carson, the man who is offering her the chance to visit again.
A super hot, not too intense, but certainly extremely sexy story with some lovely changes in pace, which are inspired. I am really curious to see how this continues to develop, and hopefully we will get more of this couple.
Holy Moly!!!! This was creative, steamy, erotic, with a whole lot of self sexual awareness for ones self that it was impossible to put this down. There was no way I could wait to finish this book. It was that intriguing.
Avery is a personal secretary for one of the executives of a huge financial company in San Fran. She's had the job for a little over 18 months and wanted to keep it. So when she couldn't find the report that contained confidential financial information, she panicked, looking all over the office for it. But she wasn't prepared to stumble onto a sex scene in the Boardroom. One that she couldn't take her eyes off of. One that stirred one too many things within herself. And the fact that Carson had caught her standing there, staring, wasn't going to go over very well.
Carson is one of the executives of this financial company, but he numbers aren't really his thing. And now that Avery has stumbled on to an exclusive group setting, he's starting to wonder if Avery is he new thing. He's always thought she was attractive, but was off limits since they worked together. Not to mention relationships weren't part of his vocabulary, so yeah, off limits. That is until she now. Why? Because now he has to do damage control to make sure she doesn't expose the group to the world. And he knows just how to do that.
This story is jam packed with wanton desires and need which will literally have you panting in some situations. But the story is more than that. It's about understand your own wants and desires and owning up to them. Excepting them for face value and not really caring what others think about you. I think that this was very well done and I can't wait to see what else is in store for this series.
Done Deal did a good job in enticing me to read the first book in The Boardroom series. What's not to like about a group of people meeting at a boardroom somewhere in the city to partake in their kinks? It was deliciously hot and interesting.
Avery Fast stumbles across one such meeting. She's immediately captivated and turned on. But then she notices Carson Haggert in the corner, watching her. Carson just happens to be one of the executives at the company she works for. A lot of the book was dealing with Avery's perceptions, fears and doubts. Carson invites her to participate in one meeting, seeing and knowing that she needs to push to go beyond her fears.
Carson was elusive and stubborn. He had clear expectations but didn't count on Avery capturing his attention so thoroughly. He was understanding, thoughtful and protective. As he helps her to navigate her new found kink, it turns into something else.
This book was about self-discovery, and acceptance. About being comfortable with who you are, and not conforming to societies demands. I liked how the Boardroom gave them a chance to grow and explore and I look forward to reading other books in the series to see how other characters get a chance at a HEA.
Yes! Finally. Thank you. I needed a scrumptious office sexpade to warm up my evening for sure. Yum. After Hours I think was better than I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, I read Strictly Confidential, and I definitely enjoyed it, but I was not expecting to just be absolutely in love with this book. Everything about the character dynamics was just panty dropping, melt off your seat good.
And speaking of the characters, yes I loved Avery. She was definitely a smidge more timid that I had initially thought she would be; I was expecting more of a power gain kind of gal, but honestly I liked this angle more than I thought. Avery wasn't weak mind you, but she was very easily cooed with Carson, she definitely allowed herself more of a submissive personality when that development really escalated. But again, this isn't bad. It really worked for her character growth. I felt in the beginning she was shy, again timid and perhaps sheltered, it wasn't until she started discovering her sexual beauty did she become more empowering.
This of course brings us to Carson, because I gotta say, without him, Avery's growth would be nonexistent. He was just commanding, demanding and down right sexy as hell. I loved his character. Everything that came from his mouth just made me swoon. There, I admitted it. He dripped sex appeal. Carson was also slightly greedy, he more than on many occasions wanted everything but at the same time tried to keep Avery at a distance. It was fun to watch him go full on caveman.
But it was Carson and Avery together that obviously made everything - I cannot mention one without the other, that is how much they countered one another throughout the entire development of the novel. Every scandalous inch they explored together, they grew together emotionally and sexually. I could not get over how Carson treated Avery, he absolutely treated her like she deserved and really made her feel beautiful, both in and outside of the Boardroom, which I think was important to her self-esteem. Especially considering how Avery was really discovering this sexual side of herself. From the moment they first had their weekend trip together in the Boardroom to the moment they were in the sex club, it was evident they literally could not keep themselves off of one another, they were completely, and incandescently beguiled. I loved it.
What can I say - I really enjoyed it. I am absolutely obsessed with Office-Romance tropes, and when you add some type of erotica to that genre, oh you know I am game and honestly I really enjoy Lynda's writing style. I was hooked from start to finish if I am being honest, I loved the connect between Carson and Avery, the caveman possession - I cannot admit that enough. Now to read Blind Trust.... oh my lanta I think it will be drool worthy.
After Hours is the first full length book in The Boardroom series by Lynda Aicher. By day the board room is where meetings take place and decisions are made. But when the sun goes down it is a different sort of dealing that takes place where the suits get put away and those invited come to play. I like this book I found the interaction and story quite well written and look forward to reading more.
I received a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads
This was a very steamy read. I loved the boardroom scenes and the dynamic of the group of people meeting for illicit affairs after hours in empty boardrooms of office buildings. The thrill of possibly being caught in the act and the idea of someone walking into the boardroom after hours was thrilling! Even the actual scenes in the boardroom where our main characters watched other couples engage intimately was a very sexy and fun story. Our main leading lady, Avery, had some sexual hang ups. Brought up in a very vanilla household the notions she has on acceptable sex leave her torn between what she feels is right and what she really wants. Her inner turmoil is expected, I felt for her when she felt she was judged by other "boardroom" members in her work environment when she would encounter them during daily tasks. Coming to terms with them not judging her or being judged by her, Avery does come out of her shell. I found her getting upset with Carson about not disclosing all aspects of joining the Boardroom activities a bit over the top and felt like she was being very irresponsible for her own actions! Carson didn't bend her arm to do the scenes. Sure, omitting details can be equal to lying but in this case I felt like her blaming others wasn't truly warranted and Carson having to grovel ended up annoying me! The book had some issues with over detailing daily living such as walking into a coffee shop or picking out Avery's clothes. It caused me to do some "skimming" but the meat of the story kept me going and I over all enjoyed the book
You're led to believe from the start that the book is going to be based entirely on what happens in the boardroom. And while that's definitely where the book starts (the boardroom is HOT), it does not exclusively take place there.
The characters interact outside of the boardroom; it's not just a matter of being intimate with one another. They actually get to know each other outside of the boardroom which I really appreciated. I loved this about the book; all too often there isn't enough emotional connection between the characters in a book like this.
Quiet and reserved, Avery Fast is shocked yet intrigued when she stumbles across an intense sexual encounter in her office building. Executive Carson Haggerty has noticed Avery before but decided to keep his distance. However, after seeing Avery's obvious curiosity and arousal, he changes his mind and actively seeks to broaden her horizons and awaken her sexual desires. The only problem is his "no string attached" policy is soon put to the test when he realizes that he wants more than just a few casual encounters with Avery.
Avery and Carson's characters are well-developed and their opposing personalities, his liberal and open, and hers conservative yet inquisitive, make for some intense interactions. They have an excellent physical and emotional connection, and the naughty/forbidden aspects of their romance only add to their attraction.
Aicher's writing and pacing are smooth and engaging. The only minor issue is the conflict at the end, which feels somewhat contrived, and Avery's feelings of hurt and betrayal are an overeaction given the trivial nature of Carson's "mistake".
The basic premise of "The Boardroom" is very intriguing, and I look forward to continuing the series and meeting the men and women involved in the sessions.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This book was not what I expected. Reading the synopsis, I was expecting way more sex and I was expecting kinky sex at that. Nothing wrong with that but what I got was as story about 2 people who embark on a sexual relationship and fall in love.
Aside from the love story and changing relationship between Avery and Carson, I think my favourite part of the story is watching Avery coming to terms with her sexuality. She is enjoying immensely watching scenes in the Boardroom and her sexual relationship with Carson, but is terrified of people finding out what she enjoys. Because she judges herself, she is assuming everyone else is judging her. She has to learn to come to terms with what she wants.
I loved the mix of sexy story, love story and emotions in After Hours. It even moved me to tears. After Hours is a really good story and I’m hoping we get more stories from The Boardroom soon.
This is this first book in this series by this author. This is definitely one hot and steamy read. The characters are well written and there interaction works perfectly. This is a erotica read which will set the pages alight as you read. The story is well written and flows nicely. I can't wait for more in this series by this author. Highly recommended www.obsessedbookreviews.com
I love Lynda Aicher books and when I saw she had a new series coming out, I just knew I would enjoy it!
The Boardroom is all kinds of taboo! Put together by the big players who have a lot to lose if their sexual proclivities came to light-as in a normal sex club, The Boardroom offers protection with strict rules, boundaries, very secretive events, and an array of play scenes available . All under the guise of detachment. No intimacy, just sex! An app was created to set up scenes and depending on your kink, you can join in, if you choose.
It's understandable these powerful people would be drawn to something like this-if they have a penchant for kink. During the day, they run their fast paced businesses and when the work day ends, their double lives take over in a dark and seductive way. How very seedy, and hedonistic, and taboo!! Avery has no idea about The Boardroom until she forgets a folder and goes back to the conference room to retrieve it. What she stumbles upon is enthralling. She should have bolted, but she was rooted to the spot! Not really believing what she was seeing-and in the conference room to boot! Then she sees Carson directing the scene and he notices her! Whoa! Talk about hot and overwhelming......and she liked it!
Carson seeing Avery glued to her spot at the door. What to do now?? He has to contain this quick-for everyone involved. They have had crashers before and have been dealt with swiftly and quickly. There is something about her though, that has peaked his interest. He saw how she was reacting to what she saw. She liked it! You can not fake those visceral reactions! He offers her a chance to explore this side of herself-one she never knew she had.
Avery is loving this sexual awakening she's embarked on, but she's having some inner moral issues. She has a hard time keeping her feelings outside of The Boardroom scenes. She seems to share the voyeurism kink Carson has, but realizes she can not detach herself from him. And there's those confining and conservative views she was raised with. Easily recognizable in her head, but much harder to rationalize in her heart. She has a hard time coming to grips with what she likes sexually.
This book was an eye-opener that was very outside the box. I liked that the moral was the double standard of women:
"We-" she motioned to the two of them "-are supposed to be prudes until we get into our husbands' bedrooms. Then it's okay for us to be wild, passionate sex goddesses. But only there. And all those women who openly engage in sex or dress in a way that draws attention to their assets? They're great to ogle and fuck, but not to marry. What a joke."
This in a nutshell was Avery coming to terms with her sexual awakening. That it is ok to like what you like, and you need not be embarrassed by it. But how can she see these people outside of The Boardroom? They know what she's done there! No one in The Boardroom was judging her though, she was only passing judgement on herself! Her girlfriend set her straight with the above quote and I loved it!
Lynda Aicher gives us an interesting read from a different perspective. Everyone has different views and they are never right or wrong-most likely shades of gray. It's how you view yourself and being ok with what you see, is the crux of the matter. Avery's sexual journey was an enlightening one.
The Boardroom is sure to be an interesting series! The prequel with Trevor had me glued, and I can not wait to get his story and meet more of the participants!!
Do you have authors that you've read in the past and tell yourself that you need to discover more of their books? For me, Lynda Aicher is one of those authors. I loved her book Game Play, which was the first book in the Power Play series. Uh, hello! Hockey romance... Why haven't I read the rest of the series?! Good question...
When I first came across the blurb for After Hours, I knew immediately that I needed this book in my hands. Then I read Done Deal and I was hooked. The prequel novella was sexy and I knew After Hours would be scouring hot. Holy Bananas, it friggin' did not disappoint. Not only was it hot as hell, it was also well written with characters that I loved. They were both lovable and so deeply wounded. Yum!
Avery Fast grew up thinking sex was something to keep hidden away in the bedroom. It should always be vanilla and missionary. She always desired something more, but was afraid of what others would think of her. When she accidentally walks in on the Boardroom, Avery finally has an outlet for expressing her desire. And when Carson agrees to let her join, her world starts to explode in sensual technicolor.
In the Boardroom, Carson was always the observer. Only when he's with Avery does the temptation get the better of him. With Avery, his firmly built control crumbles and he's lost in her. With Avery, Carson learns how to love. She's opened his world and his heart and shows him what he's missing.
I loved Carson and Avery together. Their chemistry and sexual tension was off-the-charts. As sexy as they are, they also teach each other that what they want is okay. Carson shows Avery that it's okay to explore her sexuality and nobody will judge her. And in return, Avery shows Carson something his own parents couldn't... That it is okay to love and trust someone.
After Hours was everything I wanted and so much more. I loved the idea of the Boardroom. Heroes in suits are my kryptonite so that right there already got me hooked. It was sexy, which is something Lynda Aicher does well. I loved the kinky elements. Heck, I just loved this book from cover to cover. Please tell me Trevor's book is next. I can't wait.
I received an advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
