You scream. I scream. We all scream during … well, you get the point. After a failed eight-year relationship and a cross-country move, the last thing I’m looking for as a single mom is a new flame. In fact, diapers, walls marked in crayon, and daycare pickup are the only things on my to-do list. Enter Jake Brady, your friendly neighborhood food truck owner whose dimples and delicacies won’t seem to leave well enough alone. With more popularity than the president, his wine-infused sweet treats have our nation’s capital hooked. He’s spontaneous, smug and all-American gorgeous; a dangerous combination considering he has no interest in taking on the responsibilities that rule my life. But when we can’t seem to sample enough of each other’s … desserts, things start to get complicated. Jake is biting off more than he can chew, and when I watch him with my daughter, I can’t seem to freeze my melting heart. Maybe it’s his waffle cone. Maybe it’s his … banana split. Either way, I think I’m in trouble with a cherry on top.

It started terrific.
Good-looking 'ice-cream' man; strong single mother, cute kid. They knew each other from college and he had a crash on her and she didn't notice him back then. Hell yeah!!! Loved it! Finally a guy with a crash on a girl and not the 'usual' way around!

Loved that he took her daughter with on their 1st date and I was disappointed with his behavior afterwards. Yep, the kid had a meltdown, yep, it's not very romantic; but it doesn't mean it was ok he ignored her for a month afterwards - no calls, no texts - and if not for their unplanned meeting at a bar, there would have been no romance at all, probably.
As a safety junkie I asked myself if he slept with any OW during this month. Since his BFF suggested the H should have gotten laid, there was a possibility he did. But they didn't tell me anything about it. And I'm still curious.

As MC came together it was a sweet pleasant read. Low drama, many touching moments, funny, cute - I especially loved low to none drama-lama.

Very likable strong heroine. Amazing. The one, who could still build coherent sentences while being aroused; the one, who stood up for herself and had other  life ambitions apart from licking her bf's abs. Hell yeah!

Despite hero's doubts and its vocalization of not wanting to be a father to someone's kid, he was very sweet and loving with h's daughter. Loved his love for his girls 💞

Sweet epilogue, but I wanted more! *lol*

Would there be a book about their friends? h's BFF was sooo cool! Would love to read about her!

Safety: apart from unclear (at least for me) sex-drive of the H after the 1st date and later reunion, it was safe. No OP scenes. h's ex was shortly in the picture, but she handled him good. Some shallow comments about H's past and OWs, not ott, but still dull.

Gotta buy some ice-cream now.
Mmmm, yummy 🍦

Melt is an adorable romance that doesn't have too much drama. It's easy to read, and the story flows nicely. All the delightful scenes and cute moments put a smile on my face.

The characters are also easy to fall in love with. I'll definitely pick up more books by Carrie Aarons soon.

3.5 STARS!!!

I LOVE Carrie Aarons. She has made me cry my eyes out and laughed my ass off with some of her stories. She's the author of Ghost in her Eyes, one of my favorite reads, after all. So, of course, I had to read Melt. And my heart did melt.

But it wasn't enough.

While I love a cute book with a low level of drama, this story left me feeling a little empty. Did I enjoy it? I did. Melt was funny, sexy, sweet, and those descriptions of ice cream flavors... mouthwatering! I did go to get some cones as soon as I finished reading it.

What I love the most, was the bond between Lennon and Jake and how their relationship was built up. Lennon and her unstoppable questions were so cute, she definitely made the book for me.

To be honest, I think it was the lack of surprise that made this one not reach a five-star rating. As I said before, I enjoyed it. But sometimes to be cute is not enough. I'm one of those readers who needs a little bit more.

Will I read other books by this author? ABSOLUTELY. She's talented and I love her. What happened here was just some personal pet peeves of mine so don't let it keep you from reading this one.

Overall, Melt was a lighthearted read, with some fun and steamy moments. Recommend to everyone who loves a sweet-light romance.

The best and worst part of the day in a single moms life - when the ice cream truck rolls by.
Your precious doll will run outside and get amped on sugar rush , squeezing the last drop of energy from you .
And kids love that Ice Cream guy more than their parents at that given time !!

description

You know what helps - if the ice cream man is a dollop of sexy with dimples and an insane body, to hump and he crushes on YOU !!.
Dream perfect scenario. And Samantha has this delicious , sweet and sexy , flavour of the year , Ice cream guy following her around. And her doll - Lennon has him wrapped around her pudgy adorable finger.
Sammy is struggling a bit, having left Seattle, trying to make it in DC, handling her tough job, being a single mom, trying to catch up with her toddlers tantrums and demands . She meets Jake and the woman in her stirs . It's time to think of herself too .

it’s nice just to be looked at like I’m a woman and not a diaper-bag carrier or warm body who sleeps beside him. I guess, just the possibility of something new. The mysterious excitement. The newness of experiencing someone the first time.”

But nobody told Jake Brady that 3 year olds are tougher than handling a sleeping beast. She's a handful and mouthy too .

No one ever told me that dealing with a toddler was like deciding whether to cut the red wire or the blue wire. If I put in a Disney movie, depending on which one, would she get more tired and settle down or would it amp her up? Would an Oreo give her a sugar high, or were strawberry fruit snacks the way to go? When she asked for a bedtime story, which one put her to sleep and which had her pleading for another story?

description

Kids throw tantrums, jump on your bed, spill stuff, make a mess and cry/shriek for no reason
That's enough to throw a single guy off the route of being a proxy parent. Dating a single mom has a lot of baggage attached , literally. But Jake wants to step up and take on this monumental responsibility , because he likes Samantha.
The story then goes on to document the hilarious and sexy times in Sammy and Jake's dating diaries, and of course cock-blocking Lennon too.
It's a very funny, very sweet story.
I really enjoyed reading it

Spoilers ahead

Jake met Samantha and her daughter Lennon as customers of his ice cream truck, she doesn't recognize him but he knew her from college. At their second accidental meeting he finally asks her out....only their first date ends badly. Weeks later while out at a bar he runs into her again and they sleep together, this time he does things right and even though he's never thought of himself dating a woman with children he wants to see Samantha again
Samantha was in an 8 year relationship out of which she got her daughter, with the end of that relationship she moved and got a new job. Taking a chance on Jake is risky but she's willing and things go smoothly until her ex shows up and threatens her new found happinessg
f5

**********
1)At their first date Samantha's daughter had a tantrum which Jake couldn't handle so he backed off for 2 weeks.

2) One of the things I hate is any reference to the v past and here Jake hit me with such jems as- I cringe at the blond who’d keyed one of the trucks after I did her in it and never called her again. My conscience shudders and guilt roils in my gut. “Well, this one is a little different.” There were a few such references throughout resulting in me not liking him as much as I'd have liked especially as he eventually changed

3)Samantha was an ok enough h, she had her betraying body moments but she was mature and sensible. Her blowing up at Jake because of her dumb ex was unfair but they worked things out quickly

4) In the latter parts of the book Jake turned things around completely and was devoted to his girls

5) Lennon was my favorite Character

I had a couple other issues including the writing style that didn't work for ME but I'm too sleepy to continue lol

No cheating
A few sleazy references to his past
h's ex caused a bit of drama by threatening to bring her before the court for custody of their daughter

"Melt" by Carrie Aarons is a sweet romance. I have already read a few of her books, and this is very common. It was very quick to read and entertaining, the kind you read in an afternoon or less. The previous books that I read of this author were new adult, and this one they are adults and that change I enjoyed.

Jake Brady, 30, owns Cones & Corks and sells ice-cream in one of his trucks. That's how he meets Samantha, a single mother who goes with her 3-year-old daughter Lennon for ice cream. Jake already knows her from the past, so he'll make every effort to get a date, although it is going to be hard for Samantha to be carried away by this handsome man.

I loved and adored Jake's interaction with Samantha's daughter. It was the sweetest thing. Jake is a sexy and funny man, and he's perfect. As he cares about Lennon and his family, as well as loving Samantha intensely. He's the #10 guy. Samantha dealt with so many things and knew how to get ahead in the past and now. That's why her character is a bit stronger and although she's also an excellent mom.

Melt by Carrie Aarons was so much fun to read. One single mom trying to find her way, an adorable child, mostly, and one sexy food truck owner who melts everything around them. What’s not to like?

Samantha is starting over and has one priority, her daughter. She knows that anyone who would date her would need to take on all her baggage and really, what gorgeous single guy wants all that. Enter Jake! He was a great, fun loving guy and his relationship with Lennon was everything! He was sweet, charming and caring, even when he freaked out. It just made the story an honest one!

What I loved about this story was how Jake and Samantha were getting to know each other and falling for each other throughout the book. No crazy drama, except the realities of life. It was funny, sexy and sweet all in one! I laughed so much while reading this!

Melt was an adorable romantic comedy with all the right feels! It was the story of two people navigating around sexy times, responsibilities, diapers and, well you get the point. It was a sweet story with little to no angst but lots of fun times that leave you feeling content.

- i have never read an epilogue so sickly sweet and it’s very fitting and i just loved it
- i feel like there needed to be more closure with his family?

This was my test kitchen, and Samantha just happened to be the best flavor I'd ever tasted.

If you'd ask me what food I could eat for the rest of my live, my answer would be ice cream.
So, duh, of course I had to read this story.

I highly recommend this wonderful book filled with mouthwatering descriptions of ice cream flavors... and a bit of mouthwatering descriptions of H/h getting to know each other.

I would class this as a gentle romance that I really enjoyed.
Samantha is a young single mum who has moved back home with her adorable daughter Lennon who for me was the star of the book. Jake is the man who catches her eye but he's wary of getting involved after a disastrous first date involving Lennon.
I loved getting inside Jake's head, his internal freak outs when he looks after Lennon are so funny but so accurate. The gentle pace of all the relationships resonated with me from a single mum perspective.
Melt was a fun and thoughtful story that kept me engaged and another bonus was I've found another new author.

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) *sighs dreamily* oh how I loved this story... don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of Carrie's writing style in general, but I don't adore blindly each of her books... some of them I like more... some a little less... but every once in a while, one of her stories hits me straight in the feels, and I am in love... :) and exactly that happened with this particular novel :) it's a complete standalone and a perfect way to get introduced to Carrie and her lovely writing :) so let me tell you a bit more about the book itself and then we will jump into all my thoughts and feelings :) worry not, spoiler free as always :)

So what can I tell you about Jake and Samantha... :) Samantha is a single mom who just moved back to her hometown after breaking up with the father of her daughter, Lennon :) she definitely doesn't look for anything serious, because she simply doesn't have the time for it... which is totally understandable since she is balancing raising her daughter and a new job... enters Jake... an absolutely charming owner of an ice-cream food truck business... yep, you read it right... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it... and there were definitely some descriptions of food that made me salivate all over my phone... since I read it on my Kindle app ;) but back to the point... where was I again? ;) Jake is just such a charming flirt... ;) there is definitely attraction and chemistry between them from the start, but it's not as easy as it may seem to get from that start to an actual relationship... :) so now that we know a bit more about the plot, let me tell you all the reasons why I adore this story...

I am a huge fan of Carrie's writing style... the majority of her books, including this one, are in 2 POVs, which means that we get chapters from both our main characters perspectives... and that is definitely my favourite way :) and as much as I always adore that honest writing style, not all of her stories and characters are equally close to my heart... but in this case... oh, it's definitely one of her books that will stay with me for some time... I mean, it was amazing... I loved the honest way how they got together... there was no magical one moment when they looked in each others eyes and knew... just knew they met *the one* :) yes, there was attraction, but also awkwardness... and a very rocky start... :) but then it slowly started to change... and oh what a fantastic journey it was to witness... I felt like I finally saw the build of a real relationship... with no unnecessary drama... no stupid and juvenile miscommunications and then not talking for weeks / months... I am so used to that in a lot of books I read, that the further I got into his story, the more worried I became... I kept waiting for something stupid to happen and... it never came true :) yes, there was a fight, but I understood the whole situation and it was resolved in a super mature way... *sighs happily* I need more books like that :) where adults act like adults and actually talk with each other... :) I very highly recommend all of you this wonderful story... it will melt your hearts, make you sigh and tear up, but also laugh out loud... it's a perfect read if you're having a bad day and need something good to pick you up... but it's also a great read if you are already having a wonderful day... basically what I mean is... you all need to read this gem :) go get it now :)

XOXO

“Maybe there is a truth to saying that souls seek out other souls they find similar.”

This book is definitely relatable. And since I love the dedication so much, of course I will include it in my review:
This book is for every working mother out there.
May you be strong. May you be super.
May you drink lots of alcohol.

The dedication, aside from being relatable as I've already mentioned, and not only for working mother but also for career women out there, made me remember Bad Moms in some ways, like the scene in the grocery store because that was so fun and the hot dad everyone had a crush was my hero and my inspiration for the ice cream man who drives the ice cream truck. lol

This book was sweet and cute with a bit of humor, mom problems and her frustrations with a toddler, and little drama. I think mostly it was too cute for words. Samantha was a very likeable charcater and I like how she handles things. Brady, on the other hand had room to grow over the book and it was something worth reading.

“Super, super hot. Responsibility makes my nipples hard these days.”

One down low for this book for me, was that even though I enjoy it too much, was that at the end, it was a little predictable and I probably was looking for more heavy hit and feels. Nevertheless, this was something worth my time.

If you're looking for some hot read, with humor and light drama, then this book is for you. Now, time for some ice cream.

Jake runs his own business, Cones & Corks. Ice cream flavors with alcohol oand non-alcohol. Can life get any better than that....

Samantha connects with Jake when she stops at one of his food trucks to buy her adorable daughter, Lennon some ice cream.

Jake scores big points when he suggests a first date that includes Lennon and goes into the negative points when that date includes a 3 yr old temper tantrum and he practically goes running.

Samantha is the best type of mom. Daughter is her priority. Jake has to do some big time talking and proving that they can have more of a relationship than sexual. Jake shows he has some alpha male tendencies in the bedroom....he's so yummy.

Just when things seems to be going smoothly for them Lennon's dad returns.

This is the first book I have read by Carrie Aarons and I absolutely loved it. The story had a good flow. I felt I really connected with the characters. When Jake is at his parents house for dinner and his family was unbelievably rude and condescending to him I was angry for him. I was seriously chanting for him to get up and leave.

I absolutely love these three together. This is such a sweet single parent read.

I've been wanting to read a Carrie Aarons book for AWHILE now. I decided that Melt was be the PERFECT first book, and I'll give you a guess why. 😉

Melt was such a FUN and CUTE read. All the characters were INCREDIBLY likable. Samantha was an amazing mom, I wanted to kick Jake's dimple, and Lennon was A-DORABLE. The relationship that developed between Lennon and Jack turned my heart into a puddle.

I can't wait to read ANOTHER Carrie Aarons book!!!

Reading Melt by Carrie Arrons felt as if she truly knows me, there is three things that will win me over and that is ice cream, wine and a hot man. Combine all those in one food truck and I am one happy reader. I seriously fall in love with this author with every new book she writes.

In Melt, I would say that we are gifted with the very handsome, romantic and sexy Jake Brady, he is the owner of a food truck business that serves ice cream and wine flavored ice cream. That would definitely be one food truck I would be chasing after. Jake can have any lady he wants, but he is drawn to single mom Samantha. Will he be able to handle falling in love with a woman who has a three year old daughter that is cute as a button, but more work than one person can handle? I have a feeling Jake Brady is a new book boyfriend for many readers. I am still swooning with his loving and romantic moves.

Samantha Groff is a single mother who returns home after realizing that life with the father of her daughter was not working out as she had planned. Samantha's love for her daughter has her putting her love life on the back burner. That is until she bumps into the sexy ice cream truck man that has attracted her daughter's attention. This mother knows what she wants but since her ex left her feeling unwanted, trusting someone is very hard for her especially when it comes to her daughter.

Melt is such a sweet and romantical read that it reminded me of dating life, the giddiness, sweet smiles, flirting, stars in your eyes and heat radiating through ones body with all those feelings of falling in love. This story is not all hunky-dory, it is a story of a single mom with a three year old, an ex and a hot alpha bachelor who wants more out of his business and never expected to fall for one hot momma. I am so happy that I was able to read this ARC and Carrie Aarons... You had me at wine flavored ice cream.

4 ALCOHOL MAKES EVEN ICE CREAM BETTER CROWNS

With Melt, Carrie Aarons shows the softer and lighter version of her writing. We get sweet characters and light hearted romance to entertain us from the opening pages.

Jake is the owner of an ice cream truck that specializes in alcohol infused treats (I do really need this to be a real thing). He has the typical heroic charm and charisma readers will expect in a romance, but Carrie Aarons adds a level with he introduction of a kid, one that isn't his. This aspect only emphasizes what we already love about him.

Samantha is a single mom, and she falls into the typical single mom persona. I do enjoy that she is not overly concerned with what others think or their opinion on her mothering. She loves her daughter fiercely, and even if she makes mistakes, she always has her daughter's interests at heart. For readers who are mothers, Samantha is a very relatable heroine.

Melt is a very sweet and extremely low angst romance with a dash of steam. Their romance progresses nicely, and the author develops not only the romance between the two characters but the family unit as a whole, making readers love all the relationships. The conflict will be one that readers expect, but it doesn't have the emotional or plot impact I was expecting, which is why it is low angst. I personally, like more drama and angst in my stories, but for those of you who don't, Melt will be perfect for you.

Melt is another wonderful read from Carrie Aarons. It is light and fun, and it will have you reaching for a container of your favorite ice cream and wine.

In this book, we meet Jake who owns Cones & Corks. They make alcoholic ice creams. We meet Lennox and her mother Samantha. This book is a fun read of dating, festivals, dates, and hot sexual tension. When Lennox takes off from her mother at the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC, she comes across Jake and his truck. What does she ask for? What happens when Samantha shows up? What does Jake figure out and does Samantha ever figure it out? After their first date, when Samantha does not get a call back from Jake, she goes out to a bar with a new friend at her office. Who do they run into? Who is Bryan? What kind of reception does Jake get from Samantha when he approaches her? Why? When Derek shows up unexpectedly outside Samantha's apartment building, what happens? When Jake is with them, what does he think about Derek and what does he try to do with Derek? What threats does Derek make to Samantha and what does that cause Jake to do? Does Jake stay around for the long haul or walk away? What does Samantha do about what Derek says? You're going to have to read to find out if Samantha stays with Jake or dumps him and if she ever finds out what Derek wants. This book has some very unexpected twists and turns. Enjoy the book! I did.

I voluntarily accepted an advanced reader copy of this book and also I'm a huge fan of this author.

As always, she didn't disappoint. Single mom Samantha was starting over and focusing only on her daughter when she met Jake. The minute Jake saw her he remembered her as the freshman from college that he had a crush on and never pursued; what a small world.

They went on a date that started out good and ended bad. Weeks went by when they saw each other again and Samantha decided to give Jake another shot which was the best thing she did. Their relationship was interesting in a good way especially with a three year old going on 30 who was easy to love and she was slowly having Jake wrapped around her fingers.

There relationship got stronger and stronger and they both always supported each other in everything. There was a part in the book when Samantha's ex showed up to see his daughter and she wasn't having it and she made this comment, "B&@&@, I didn't think so, hold my earrings", 😂😂😂😂😂. She's a mama bear alright but that was a slight hiccup and Jake was there just like she was for him when they met his family.

You'll get good laughs reading this one and the their friends were great.

Let me start by saying, if my husband started making ice-cream for a living (some of which may have alcohol in them), then I would be in my element.

Jake Brady owns a successful business, alongside his business-partner Alice. Cones and Corks consists of ice-cream trucks with some of the most amazing flavours you've ever heard of. Jake has had some disastrous dates and short term relationships, and is concentrating on developing and expanding his business so has no time or desire for anything serious anyway.

Samantha is a single mum, who has just moved back to her hometown with her young daughter. No longer with the father of her daughter, she has a new job, making a fresh start where she grew up.

When Jake and Samantha meet (over ice-cream obviously), there is an instant attraction there, having actually gone to the same college many years ago. After an absolutely disastrous first date, can things progress for the two of them...?

This was a very sweet and romantic story. There wasn't a huge amount of drama or angst, but the writing flowed really well and it was light-hearted, with some very funny moments. I enjoyed the overall story line and found this to be a really enjoyable read!

I found this book to be a quick, fun, and will MELT your heart! From the beginning to the end you will be wanting to find your own ICE CREAM TRUCK MAN! Carrie, has once again bring us a book with little angus, some drama, and whole lot of Melting scenes. The two main characters fight for what they want in life and will stop at nothing to get it.

Samantha is a single mom who moves back to the east coast after a failed relationship of 8 years and is starting her life over. She is tough, smart, beautiful, and can handle any situation thrown at her.

Jake has a ice cream truck business and is looking to expand. He is making it on his own and doesn't want to be in the family business. He is sexy, smart, and is not looking for anything serious.

Jake meets Samantha after he daughter takes off from her. He realizes she is the girl he had a crush on in college, but was to shy to say anything to her. After a couple more run ins, he decides to ask Samantha out. When he realizes that Samantha is a mom first, will it cause him to run or will he stick by Samantha?

This book was a quick read and I simply devoured it. I have read several books of Carrie's and can't wait to read more.

A sweet romance that will have you running out for ice cream and "melting" over a new book boyfriend!

With Carrie's description of Jake's ice cream flavour creations (especially the ones with wine), I'd like Jake's ice cream truck to visit my neighbourhood, preferably with a very hot Jake behind the wheel.

Samantha is a single Mom who has just recently moved back to her hometown when she runs into Jake. After a disastrous first date, things take awhile to kick into gear, but once they do we're treated to a hot, lighthearted romance with very little angst.

I generously received this ARC from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review...

If you are looking for a super sweet (total emphasis on the word SWEET) and fast paced romance, then boy do I have the perfect book for you. Melt by Carrie Aarons is just that and so much more. I quickly devoured this sweet treat and was left completely satisfied in the end.

Samantha is a young single mother who has moved back home after her failed relationship, so a new flame is the last thing she expects, but that is exactly what happens when she runs into Jake, the successful owner of Cones & Corks (an ice cream truck that is friendly for all ages and are best known for their unique flavors). Neither of them are prepared for what is about to happen...but then again who's ever prepared?

I totally recommend checking this story out because it will make your heart melt (<-- see what I did there?) and your head swoon from start to finish!

Syrupy sweet goodness!

This was my first read from Carrie Aaron's. A very sweet and fun read. I loved the characters in this one. Jake and Samantha's relationship is one that will stay with you. You have Jake who is the joker, and Samantha who's the serious one, but easily laughs. A great read. I recommend it!
