I didn't want this book to end. Something about it stuck me in the heart. There is so much going on around us....you can almost feel like you are there.
Gulf Coast Paranormal is back, this time investigating mysterious lights that appear over Forrest Field. The lights bring with them the ozone smell of electricity and there are stories of them burning people in the past so there is a greater level of danger than usual right from the beginning in this novel.
The mystery—the ghosts—date back to an eighteenth century judicial lynching of a woman accused of burning her friend to death. There is an undercurrent of racism in the lynching as the woman was having a relationship with a Native American that clearly scandalized the community. The GCP team has to figure out how to set all three spirits—the lynched woman, the burnt woman, and the Native American, to rest.
These novels are very short reads and they really work for me. I’m six into the series now and I’m still having trouble articulating just what it is that attracts me to them so strongly. I think the answer is in the relationships of the GCP team. I really like the characters and they all have their share of problems which help them come to life. I’m really looking forward to the next book.
The GCP team is asked to investigate strange blue lights that have been seen near an archaeological dig at the site of an old fort. The flashbacks that Cassidy gets as she paints her visions shows that a young girl living at the fort had seen the lights and followed them, while her friend chased after her and died after touching one of the lights. New team member Aaron is convinced that the mysterious lights are elementals, which his Native American heritage warns against interacting with. However, if the team is going to put this particular haunting to rest, they will need to delve into the past to bring peace in the present.
This was an engrossing story. It was creepy without being terrifying (I’m too old to be terrified!), and the flashbacks from the past added some interesting perspective. I enjoyed reconnecting with familiar characters and meeting new ones.
The Ghost Lights of Forrest Field Highlighted a Culture
The Gulf Coast Paranormal crew actually seemed to have matured. That’s saying something! For a change, the players didn’t perturb the story. Thank you to Author Bullock for that. Open questions have blossomed. What came of Sara wanting to buy out the team? Where did Pete go? The threat of a renegade archeologist in story just dissipated. And there are a few others. But on thing’s for sure, the author’s paranormal stories keep bringing me back for the next episode.
Enjoyed the Author's interpretation of legendary ghost lights. Also, glad Cassidy is finally found peace with her Sister's death and enjoying her growing and evolving relationship with Midas. I actually like all the team members of GDP even the new intern, Aaron, though the jury is still out whether he is going to become a permanent new addition. Looking forward to reading Book 7 in this series!!
Again, I highly recommend this book, as well as the series. Once begun, I have been hooked on the characters and their paranormal gifts. The experiences they share, and the spooky plots will keep the reader entertained without graphic gore, bad language or innuendo. Well done!
I'm a huge paranormal fan! This series is right up my alley! Anything to do with ghosts and such usually has me glued to the pages. I'm finding this series extremely interesting and fascinating. All the storylines are so good that I end up reading the book in one sitting.
This has not been my favorite of this series so far but it was still pretty good. I prefer ghosts and hauntings to elementals. But it's another solved case for the GCP team.
These stories are becoming more complex and the characters more three dimensional, however, still feels too short. The ghost issues are resolved too easily after the build up.
This one was good. I enjoy the continuation of the charactersvin this series. The investigation story didn't hold much interest to me compared to some of the previous ones.
