Few music groups have been able to sustain a fan base as passionate and dedicated as that of Phish, and this entertaining guide rewards those fans with everything they need to know about the band in a one-of-a-kind format. Packed with history, trivia, lists, little-known facts, and must-do adventures that every Phish fan should undertake, it ranks each item from one to 100, providing an indispensable, engaging road map for devotees old and new.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jason at the Baker's Dozen, where we got to rage "lemon" night together in sec 101. He told me at the time that he was working on this book, and what a delight to finally read it, especially after remaining friends post-BD.
While a "100 Things" list would typically be geared towards the newly indoctrinated, there's still much for the die-hard fan to enjoy here. It's a fun read, well written, great stories, and solid listening recommendations. (I have a few earmarked pages to refer to when looking for my next listen.) I learned a few things, too.
Recommend for fans, new and old. Gave five stars for those five-star dudes who wrote the book (and that five-star band still crushing).
I liked reading this book, because it reminded me of my many Phish adventures. The biggest downside was there is no index. There could have been a few indexes to combat the complexity of the topic like subject, name, and date indexes.
Got this to read aloud with my partner. It was a great conversation starter and covered a lot of ground, but it has a TON of lists of songs and stats that don't make for great out loud reading (probably only make for good skimming unless you're really into Phish... But if you're really into Phish you probably know all this already?). Felt like a fan-written book because that's what it is. And that's why it took us over a year to get through. Glad we read it together but it works better as a reference tool.
I savored this book only allowing myself to read a chapter and/or section per day. Worth the time. I learned so much!! Makes me love the band even more (and I didn't know that was possible)!
It’s a fun book! As a life long phan I really enjoyed reading this. I also think it could be a Helping Friendly Book for the person who is interested in Phish but not quite sure where to start ⭕️
