This was a really good collection of four different cozy mysteries by four different authors:
Calamity Jayne and the Haunted Homecoming by Kathleen Bacus
Mystic Mayhem by Sally J. Smith and Jean Steffens
Lipstick, Lies & Dead Guys by Jennifer Fischetto
Murder Casts Its Spell by Margaret C. Morse
This is a general review for all four books. The main characters were likeable and there was reasonable character development. The plot lines were interesting, providing clues that slowly lead me to the mysteries' solutions, and the pacing was good with no gaping holes that I saw.
There was no foul language or gratuitous violence. One book did give a pretty grisly description of a hit-and-run victim, but it was integral to the story. There was no detailed sex, although a couple of the books showed the main characters' attraction to another character in a reasonable way. The endings were satisfactory, with no cliffhangers, although a couple of them do have long story arcs that make you want to read the next book.
In general they were pretty well edited, although not perfect. There were some run-on sentences, incomplete sentences, a few missed words, and inconsistencies in the use of past tense versus past perfect tense, and that's why I dropped my rating by a star. However, the grammar issues are pretty minor, and did not affect my enjoyment of all four books. I'm going to keep these books in my Kindle, because I intend to read them again.
