Frazzled #3

Minor Incidents and Absolute Uncertainties

Rate this book
Abbie Wu is even more FRAZZLED as she embarks on an outdoor school trip and encounters new hazards of middle school.

This is the third book in a New York Times bestselling graphic novel series that NPR's All Things Considered called "hilarious"!

Abbie Wu thinks that she’s finally getting the hang of this middle school thing. That’s until her teacher announces that they’ll be going to…OUTDOOR SCHOOL!

While Abbie’s usual clique seems to adjust fine at camp, she doesn’t quite fit in—with anyone! If that isn’t bad enough, her camp counselors are totally evil and she can’t figure out what is up with the golden pig.

Abbie feels all alone. Will she learn how to fit in yet stay true to herself? Or will she finally reach her breaking point?

From author and professional doodler Booki Vivat, this popular series follows Abbie Wu, your favorite hilariously neurotic middle school girl, as she tries to come up with solutions to funny real-life middle school challenges.

Akin to Smile by Raina Telgemeier, Minor Incidents and Absolute Uncertainties is heavily illustrated, embarrassingly honest, and sure to appeal to anyone hoping to figuring out how to survive middle school.

Adorable as per usual. I saw on Instagram that this is the last in the series, and I do wish it had felt more like an ending, but all of the Frazzled books are precious and quintessentially capture that period of life; even though none of the incidents are anything like what I dealt with, the feelings are on point.

I have got to say this was my favorite in the series. Abbie goes to a outdoor school which is more like camping out in the wilderness. I could totally relate to the jitters she gets the night before trip. Such a nostalgic feeling. I loved how Abbie turns to become a newer version of herself. She is uprooted from her existing school where she had worked so hard to establish herself to this new unknown environment. She is terrified of change and worried that she would be left out. Her struggle to try fit in is something everyone can relate to. I like the conversation she has with the camp volunteers and her brother. It's such a sweet moment. Abbie completely idolises Peter and assumes he has a perfect life. So the moment when Peter comes out to her and tells it's alright to mess up sometimes and comforts her, my heart feels so overjoyed. It's such a tender and a beautiful moment. Aw man I hope there are more books in the series. I have come to like this series so much. I love the artworks and the story a lot. Overall an amazing middle grade series.

Absolutely loved this book!

I love the illustrations and I just love the main character. She’s so relatable! When we are at this age, we try to juggle so many things and be someone who’s “acceptable” in school, in group activities and yes, at home too as well.

Abbie Wu is really struggling in her outdoor school trip trying to be as cool as her brother, be inclusive as her popular friends and be someone who can become reliable. But can she do it all?

I just love how honest the character portrayal is and how realistic everything is there in the book.

We feel more stress and anxiety when things pile up, when we expect too much from ourselves and this is where reading this book will help you listen to yourself better and your surroundings; become more approachable and be more resilient without compromising our mental and physical health.

Abbie Wu ultimately allows herself to confide in someone she can trust and she comes to know what matters more rather than beating ourselves with fear and anxiety.

Such a good book!

Love the fun amazing illustrations!

If you love reading graphic novels and comics by Debbie Tung, you will absolutely love this book!

I am going to read the rest of the books very soon! Yes, you can read this book as a standalone.

Abbie Wu and the rest of her class of Middles are going on their rite-of-passage outdoor education week-long field trip. Her perfect older brother is a camp counselor and Abbie worries how she will cope/change/fit in/survive Outdoor School. She is placed in a cabin with an already established friend trio, so she is odd man out until a counselor, not her brother, convinces her she has nothing to lose. She decides to be Abbie 2.0 and try everything. Unfortunately as she succeeding with trying new things, she fails to protect the camp’s prized Golden Pig. Using her new skills and tenacity, though, she recruits ALL the campers to cooperate and win the prize back from the counselors. Abbie returns to school triumphant and newly confident. Manga-inspired big eyes and mouths and expressions are featured in yet another Diary of a Wimpy kid inspired hybrid story. Genuine sentiment and very realistic camp field trip humor make this series a success. Add to all collections where these kinds of first-person self-deprecating hybrids are popular (and where aren’t they?).

I love this series so, so much. It's funny, clever, and oh-so-relatable.

In the third book in the Frazzled series, Abbie Wu is back and ready for outdoor school. In an attempt to become a new version of herself (Abbie 2.0), she signs up for way too many activities. Chaos inevitably ensues... leading to The Incident. Certain scenes in this book (including The Incident) had me laughing out loud. The sibling dynamic between Abbie and Peter is perfect and emotionally resonant. And the artwork in this book excels; author/illustrator Vivat is an artist to watch!

This volume--and the series in general--is a MUST READ for all kids ages eight to twelve. An uproarious delight!

Set in middle school, about a week at Outdoor Camp. Do schools still send kids to camp? Main character stresses about making friends at camp, being in the shadow of her older, very popular camp-counselor brother. In the end she relaxes, tries new things and enjoys her adventure.
This is a hybrid novel. Many of the illustrations contain cramped, tiny writing which I found annoying to try to read.

Graphic novel
Third book in the series
This time, Abbie and her friends head for a week of Outdoor School. She finds her bravery and tries new things leading to overcommitment and anxiety. Finding balance and being true to her own needs/wants is a main theme. A lesson we all can learn.

Haven’t read the first two in the series, but I couldn’t resist diving into this one right away. It’s a very quick read (took me about a half hour), but it’s so good!!!

It's a lovely doodled story best suited for 10 to 12 year olds. Read it on my son's recommendation and it was easy to see why he loved it

The final book in the 3-book Frazzled series does not disappoint. Abby is going to outdoor camp with her classmates which involves being away from home overnight for a week. When routines get disrupted, that sometimes jolts people out of a rut and causes change. This happens to Abby in this fun, fast-paced adventure!

I really have enjoyed the Frazzled trilogy. Abbie Wu/her adventures are fun and entertaining. She's probably one of the more refreshing middle-grade female protagonists I've come across.
