Alternate cover edition of ASIN B075Q29VR9

***Note: This is a short novella, not a full-length book, and covers the period after Blue's first adventure, and before her next.***
Blue and her friends have returned to Earth. Now, they need to deal with the aftermath of their (mis)adventure. Blue hopes to keep what really happened silent, but old resentments and tensions come to the fore, and the rumors can't be avoided.
Additionally, though Phe, Kevin and Forrest haven't exactly stopped being her friends, there is a distance there, and Blue is determined to overcome it despite her own feelings of guilt.
So, Blue has a new Plan, and mysteries to solve. She's going to get Phe and Kevin together, and Forrest out of his house. And she's going to figure out why she can't stop thinking about a certain red-haired clansman, and what she'd going to do about it.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and happily moved on to this book, which is set between the first and second books. Where book 1 ended with an epilogue where they decide to go back, in Behind These Blue Eyes we basically go back in time and see how Blue and the others are doing being back home on Earth and how/ why they eventually make the decision to go back.

I thought it was nice to get insight into how everyone is doing while being back to Earth. The author really shows how they struggle and the weight of their adventures is felt. This series has a lighthearted adventurous vibes, but also dips into more serious topics. In this book that's the pain of loss, as well as fear and guilt. Everyone is struggling with what happened and I liked how the author explores these topics. The later half is a bit more upbeat again as things go better and the friendships are getting tighter again.

While I enjoyed this story, I also felt it isn't fully necessary. I enjoy the parts in the other worlds more and this book has almost none of the science fiction/ fantasy elements. I kinda kept waiting for that element to be back in the story. I am happy I read it, but at the same time I didn't enjoy it as much as book 1. I am excited for the next book when they go back to Karan.

This book mostly shines in my opinion in the character development. I liked gettign to see more of Blue and how she is doing and even how she's struggling and also how she dealt with what she's going through. I like how she is there for her friends and how she helps them through this and they help her. I especially was happy when they bring up talk of going back to Karan. There is a bit of relationship development here as the connection between Blue and Forest deepens and I liked seeing that.

To summarize: Behind These Blue Eyes is a shorter read set in between books 1 and 2. It mainly focuses on showing how the characters are dealing with what happened in book 1. There's some character development and a bit of focus on the harder topics like grief, guilt and fear. There's also some looking to the future and what's next. I enjoyed the read, but at the same time I didn't enjoy it as much as book 1 as I wanted to go back to Karan. I liked how this book has some character development and deepens some relationships.

The adventure continues

As the second book in this series stick up right where the last one ended with the group dealing with the fallout of their adventures through the portal. We get grief, depression, confusion, and so much more as they all try to adapt to the real world o my to discover that they need something else all along. I enjoy getting into Blue's head and I find my self addicted as I wonder what new adventure will come next. With an ending like this I will be looking forward to the next installment. If you enjoy very slow burn RH novels then this is the series for you. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.

YAY!

Amazing transition between books and it gives a lot more info that didn’t make it into the first book. I cannot wait to see if they make it back.

I did not enjoy book 2 anywhere near as much as the first book in the series. The story went a direction that I personally did not feel jived with the personalities that were portrayed in book 1. In the first book By the end of the book everyone was back to themselves, so I'm going to give the next book a chance in hopes the story picks back up.

This is a wonderful novella detailing what happens after Blue and the other survivors get home, how they cope with the aftermath of their adventure in Karan

We get to see how they all cope as they come back to reality, with their loses and with leaving people behind. They have to also deal with the rumours and accusations at school, will their friendship stand the test?

The writer has done a great job to pull all this together, to give answers that the readers needed to previous events and to see how everyone copes. I am excited to read book three in this extremely exciting series

Jfc I have been waiting for long to read this until I practically forgot the moment I was able to bought a copy. Talk about memory issues. I have only started binge-reading the series to be able to catch up for the upcoming release (or is it released already? fml) of book 4.

Behind These Blue Eyes was like the aftermath of a reading marathon, in my personal experience. I get involved and immersed in my reading that sometimes I lost track of time irl and...basically everything and everyone else. Thus, whenever I get back to reality or whenever i stop my binge, I get so disoriented and stressed af.

Blue and her friends were in a similar situation, kind of. Imagine being affected so much from an adventure, to an extent that they did discover a whole new world and experienced loss like nothing before, it surely would get challenging to get back to what was usual before.

I don't want to take away reprieve from the other characters esp being so disconcerted and dispirited from the incident in book 1. But I would like to give a shout out to Blue for being courageous to initiate the confrontations from her friends. Of course, it wasn't as simple or as easy as I had put it. For one, deep inside her, Blue still thought she's the one to blame for the whole adventure-gone-wrong thing. Second, technically, she was the newbie of the group, an outsider through and through. So glad she was able to resolve things eventually in the novella.

As for the aspect of the reverse harem, I had been searching for a scenario wherein the guys would have to give themselves up (expose themselves to vulnerabilities or be the selfless ones for a change) for the heroine's benefit. The guys being considered as Blue's love interests weren't friends nor acquaintances whatsoever. And that's the type of reverse harem that I would like to get my hands into and would like to dissect for research purposes. Ha! But you get what I mean. /rubs both hands together

Blue and her friends have returned to Earth. But since everyone didn't make it back and now they must deal with the consequences of their adventure. The group seems to be coming apart and rumors are rampant. Blue is suffering from guilt and nightmares and fears that she has lost her friends. The guilt makes her believe that they have or will all turn against her. So, Blue, in true Blue fashion comes up with a Plan to help her friends feel better. She's going to get Phe and Kevin together, and Forrest out of his house. She also makes some important decisions about her life after high-school. Everything seems to be coming together. Except that she misses the other world, Mo'ata, and the other men she met there.

This is a novella that serves as a bridge between books one and two. It deals with the reality of returning to their everyday life perfectly. It's a nice filler but I would have liked more time with Blue and Forrest rather than Blue missing Mo'ata. I didn't feel that their relationship was captured as clearly as it was in the first book. Honestly, while this book served it's purpose as a bridge it didn't capture the original magic of the first book for me. I was captivated by book one and this one didn't reach the same level of appeal. However, that may have been because we needed to deal with the deaths and the grief. It may not have been possible. That might make this novella a brilliant idea if it leads to a magical third book. I plan to find out soon!

As charming as the 1st

I forgive all the grammatical errors because the story is so much more than just the words that make it. We, all the Blue fans, needed this story. Oh, we want book 2, don't get me wrong. But this will help hold us over.

Most of the events in this novella take place from their arrival back home to just after the conversation in the epilogue of book 1. It focuses on the remaining members of the group finding each other again after the traumatic events they've been through and the losses they've suffered. It's not very long, all in all, but it is exactly what we all wanted to know and needed to read. Thank you, Ms Randell for giving us another glimpse into this world you've created.

Sorry no spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that. So this is all I’m going to say about this book is it’s absolutely fantastic!
Each book of Blue just gets better and better! I loved this book just like the first one. Cecilia Randell definitely knows how to pull her reader in and get them hooked because I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it!
So heck yeah I definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in crawling into this story and getting lost within its pages. But fair warning you’ll be hooked and needing more by the time you get to the end!

Behind Blue Eyes is a short story that plays between two adventures of Blue Faust. When I found the story, I immediately bought and read the book. The story is nicely told and play again on earth. Blue notes that she misses her new friends, who she found and had to leave in the first story. Back on Earth, the friends she made in the new school are suffering from the events that happened in the first book and become distant with Blue. But Blue tries to win them back and help them and herself with the grief. The story was captivating but also sad. I hope book 2 will release soon ;o).

Audiobook.

This is a quick novella that bridges the gap between books one and two. It's not really necessary, as the epilogue in book one gets to the heart of the matter (they're going back!), but it was nice to see how the relationships on Earth developed, and why Blue changed her mind about Caran (spelling? sorry - audiobook).

Blue also turns eighteen in this installment, so technically, I think this moves the series out of Young Adult territory, but Blue is SO young, and SO innocent, that I have a hard time seeing this series turn into a steamy RH in the next book.

Loved!

This feels like an extension of the epilogue in the first book! I'm glad she released this short little story for 2 reasone. One, it's like a precursor to book 2 and it tells you what happened in the between time. Two, this staves off my hunger for the next book a little! I love it!

There are a few mistakes, like common typing mistakes. There's not a lot, but they're there.

This is a short novella, but I feel like it could have been an epilogue of book 1. All of the characters are dealing with mixed feelings about what happened on their misadventures. There is some talk about the investigation into the people who "went missing" but otherwise it was everyone wanting to talk to each other but they don't because they think everyone is mad at them. Just seemed unnecessary.

The best.

Seriously this series is off to an extraordinary start. The characters are getting wonderfully filled out to the point you know you would be good friends to some and smack the carp out of others. I highly recommend you try this series, but remember that this a reverse harem series. If you are not into a bunch of men with one woman this is not for you.

Every action has a reaction

This book in the series was more subdued. Blue and her remaining friends return home and have to figure out how to come to terms with their experience on Karran. It ends with an idea of the adventures to come. I liked it so of course I’ll read the next book.

Yeah more adventures!

That book was kind of an in between. Blue and everyone dealing with the deaths of their friends from book one. Going back to school turning 18 and figuring out what she wants to do. I can’t wait to see what adventures awaits in the next book. I love Blue and Forest. I can’t wait to see who ends up in her harem. Great quick read. Loved it.

She grew closer to Forrest and his mom who belived the stories.

If you read book 1 you probably thought something actually happened on book 2? Let me help you out, nothing really happened. It was mostly about the main character, Blue, being in her head and accepting certain things while making sure her friends are ok mentally. This is NOT the book where she returns to Karran.

Good for a novella

This was a good quick read to hold us over for book 2. I liked catching back up and reading the aftermath of book 1. There were several errors in the book that did pull me from the story.

Ready for more!!

I loved the first book and now that this one was all about them dealing with their feelings about what happened in book one, the next book is sure to be great! This short novella was necessary because they couldn't just ignore what happened to their friends.

Oh ma this book killed me in a good way! Watching Blue, Phe, Kevin and Forrest figure their way back to normal was after all of the loss. I totally felt for them. I really feel like they’re coming out on the other side. I need to know what happens next!

"out of the box" romance book

I am in love with Blue's story so far. I love the outside of the box type books. I get tired of reading the same old romance books. Reading this book was like getting a breath of fresh air.

Very lame, boring and uninteresting. Quite a waste of time actually, just skip to the next book honestly. All she does is blame herself and worry about rumors. Also very slow read, had to force myself to continue.

Short? Still sweet.

This one seemed really short. But it is kind of an interim piece; after they return and each of them working their way through events. Some interesting reveals, resolutions, and decisions.

This is my author perks review vote. 😻

Though this was a novella, it answered a lot of questions and solved some problems for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it put me in the mood to continue with Blues story.
