This is definitely a book I'll be buying for my granddaughter when she gets a bit older. Enid Richemont is one of those authors who know what young readers like. This is a delightful tale of a school dinner lady with an unusual appearance, a sense of humour, a deep feeling for justice and a magical ability to help people get things in perspective. Children (and their parents) will love Mrs Kachunka, whose name sounds like a sneeze.
The writing is engagingly rhythmical and the story bounds along with not a word wasted. Kachunka! - this one's a hit with me.
