With the dawning of our twenty-first century the peddlers of Doomsday voiced their theories ever more loudly. None, however, could have possibly foreseen the extraordinary events which would bring about that prophesied downfall of the human race. It was not, as had been so frequently touted over the last decades, its excessive population explosion, the horrendous concoctions of pollutants or the growing stock-piles of highly radioactive plutonium weapons, already leaking their deadly payloads. That final blow to civilization coming from a judgement handed down by another intelligent life-form, existing unimaginable distances across the infinite universe.

From opposite sides of the globe, Jarred Morgan and Angela Cassalls are both torn from ordinary and happy lives. Each of them lured by an inexplicably strange ‘crystal’, which defies all the known laws of physics, to travel to a small village nestling at the foot of the picturesque South Downs of Sussex, in England. There they would meet Roland, the same man who had been that village’s blacksmith over two and a half centuries before!

Roland too had been torn from his world, and thrown into the longest and strangest of lives. A life filled with knowledge way beyond the wildest dreams of any man. A life where the heart-wrenching loss of all he had ever known and cherished was replaced by wonders and eventually the truest of friendships. An enigmatic being from another dimension has been sent to find the worst, to seek out man’s transgressions against his natural environment. These crimes then to be used as justification for drastically changing the course upon which humanity relentlessly marches.
