I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review. This isn't your typical mafia romance, this story mostly focuses on Arianna and Giovanni's love, you don't really read much about the different seedy things both mafia families do. Which I thought was great that you weren't sidetracked and just focused on how Gio and Ari meet, as well as the misunderstandings. I pretty much read it in one day because it was such a cute story about love at first sight. You definitely need to pick up this book! Gio agrees to an arranged marriage to get his dad to let him take more responsibility in the family business. So he decides to go out for his last night as a single man. Ari comes home from work, (teaching second graders), to find out that the day she's been waiting for has finally happened, that her parents have made an arranged marriage for her. Suddenly she's no so sure how she feels about it, and decides to get her friends & go out for what would be her final night as a single woman. Unfortunately her friends are busy, she doesn't tell her parents that since she doesn't want one of her over protective brothers along, it'll truly be her last taste of freedom. Gio sees Ari at the bar getting man handled by a drunk and comes to her rescue. What follows is a night of passion that neither will forget! Will it cause Ari to call off the wedding?! Get it today and find out for yourself!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this short novella, although at times the female character frustrated me with her bigoted or perhaps sheltered ways.
Whilst most girls dream of their wedding day and the engagement, Arianna Marino always knew she would have an arranged marriage. Knowing that it was old fashioned, her sheltered life as a daughter whose family was closely affiliated with the Mafia, she had faith here family would arrange someone suitable. With her twenty sixth birthday fast approaching, she learns she will be meeting her future husband the following morning. In a bid to spend her last 24 hrs as a free woman, she heads to her favourite nightclub and meets Giovanni, a mysterious but seductive specimen of a man; and all her inhibitions are let loose.
Giovanni Romano is the eldest child yet he still holds a low position in the family business. All those who know him are quick to look away ...for he has the look which is intimidating to others. But Gio is fed up of being the Capo and dolling out punishments to those who owe his father. In a bid to increase his position in the company, Giovanni agrees to marry into the Marino family. Knowing he is meeting his future wife the following day, Giovanni goes to the nightclub his friend owns and finds himself helping a damsel in distress.
Finding out that their future spouse's is the same one night stands from the day before is good news for Gio until he realises he has done something to offend Arianna. In an attempt to win her affection yet again, before he loses his stake in the business and the respect of his family. As time moves in, it quickly becomes apparent that his position in the company is no longer an issue. He finds himself quickly falling in love but again hits a wall when his fiance calls if the wedding and refuses to explain why.
This is the part that frustrated me the most. Arianna demands to know everything about Gio and wants him to explain his actions but she does the exact same thing.
But I do love a HEA and the ending is satisfying. There are no wondering 'what ifs' which is wonderful.
Overall a good read if you can pass over the immature behaviour of the female character.
Oh wow! What a storyline by Nicole Elliot - this has the Mafia involvement, a murder or two, lust, sense of duty, passion, caring, protectiveness, hope, fear or rejection, despair and just maybe, LOVE. Gio is part of the Mafia family and is he loyal and obedient. When he's told he must marry in an arranged marriage, he thinks he will do it but doesn't expect too much even though his parents love each other. Ariana or Ari has been waiting for her arranged marriage since she was a little girl. She is not really a part of the mafia as she is a school teacher but her dad and three big brothers coddle her and keep potential suitors at bay. She is ready for marriage and having a family of her own. But she decides to have one last night of freedom before meeting her intended and goes out clubbing. She is noticed by a dark brooding and handsome man called Gio and they have one wild, passionate night that was beyond both their expectations. Gio now wishes he didn't have to get married as he'd rather pursue the gorgeous woman warming his bed. But in his anger he behaves like a jerk and tells her to leave. Imagine his reaction when, later that day, he is introduced to the beautiful Ari, his fiancée! This is where the real FUN begins. Will she forgive him for that morning? Will she believe that he really wants to get to know and marry her? How does she feel about him? Life is so complicated and they don't know what to think. Maybe they should sit and have a heart to heart to each other? To find out, grab this excellent book and read :) This was a very enjoyable book that had some great characters and wonderful dialogue and banter with humour and I'd like to find out more about her brothers and if they have their own HEAs! I received an arc of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review of it here.
Giovanni was a member of his father’s mafia organization tired of doing the dirty work. He wanted a promotion. He pledged his life to it and his father told him he would have to marry to join to families to expand the organization. Arianna always knew she would have an arranged marriage so it was no shock to her when she told she was getting married. Giovanni and Arianna meet each other the night before they were to officially meet. They were not aware of who the other were. The story contains sexy scenes, lust, twist, jealousy, hurt, and love. What will happen when they find out the next day? Will the couple make it to the alter? Grab the book to find out the answers and more. Nicole wove her plot and built her characters into dimensional figures. The book grabs you at the first and keeps you till the last word. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
Awesome contemporary mafia family arranged marriage. Gio was part of the mafia his father ran. As the oldest son his position was to convince those that owed to pay up. He was told of his arranged marriage to another wealthy 'family'. The evening prior becoming committed he goes to the club for a hook-up. As i is having a hard time brushing a drink off her and the club when Gio appears and helps her. They end up spending the night together only to find out he's the same man who kicked her out of his apartment. Now she doesn't want the arranged marriage but the families do. They go from one issue to another while trying to appease their parents until it all blows up. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. This was an enjoyable quick read. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Elliot.
A cute romantic story that can easily be read in less than a day. Ari and Gio are both from Mafia families and their parents have arranged marriages for both of them. Each not knowing the other decides to go out for one last night of freedom. Gio rescues Ari at a bar from a guy who was hitting on her and it's insta love. They spend the night together and it's hot and their chemistry is off the charts. She's humiliated when he sends her off the next morning. And again when she sees him talking to another woman, who turns out to be his cousin. A beautiful story that chronicles their life long love affair and married relationship. They are so perfect together and this book was a joy to read. I received an advance copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
This not my favorite Nicole Elliot book by any stretch. I actually quite like her books. An modern arranged marriage where both parties are perfectly willing and want to make a good marriage between them, unusual, tell me more. Okay they meet before the official meeting and have a one night stand not realizing who they actually are to each other. He basically throws her out the next morning. They meet, officially, neither is upset about the one nighter but she's ticked off about the rude morning after. They get it together and are actually thrilled with each other. Misunderstandings happen, she freaks, he's confused. The truth comes out. They live happily ever after. LOL
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.*** A late ARC due to previous kindle issues.
Ari or Gio are both slaves to their upbringing and don't have a lot of choices when it comes to their own futures so when each of them are told of an arranged marriage to someone they've never met they accept their fate with surprising good grace but each decide that a night on the town is in order to relieve some stress. Only it just so happens that they meet, neither knowing who the other is, have insane chemistry which they indulge. You can imagine the shock the next day when they meet their intended spouse and realise what happened. Misunderstandings, hurt feelings, super hot chemistry and well-written characters all combine to make this a really great read.
Ariana and Gio are to be married in an arranged marriage. Both are accepting that the marriage will happen, but both of them got out to have one night to themselves before they get together. Fate has other plans though and their one last single night becomes one night together, but Gio ruins it by pushing her away because he has to marry the arranged girl, which just happens to be her. I love Ariana, she is a wonderful character who is a teacher that helps and really cares about her students, and loves her family (even though they might not be on the right side of the law all the time). This was an interesting read with some drama.
It was second book of Nicole Elliot that I read. And the author didn’t disappoint me this time too. It was very pleasurable read, very steamy, sexy, hot and sweet. I loved main characters – Ari and Gio. She was such a sweet and cute woman, very shy and good. He was charming and masculine. The plot was good – I liked little misunderstandings between Arianna and Giovanni – by this the book was more interesting and I couldn’t stop reading. I recommend this book and I would love to read more of Nicole’s books.
A nice story about Arianna & Giovanni who is from two different mafia clans. They are going to marry because of an arrangement between their fathers. I like Giovanni more than Arianna. She is a sometimes like a teenager in her behavior. Very spoiled. There are some hot scenes and lots of chemistry in the story. Not that much about the mafia things the clan makes. But more about their relationship. A nice very fast paced read that has some laughs and twists in it.
I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review.
In this Mafia book we have, Giovanni 'Gio' Romano, and Arianna 'Ari' Marino. They are from rival mafia gangs. Both have been told by their families, they will be married soon. During a night out, they meet one night in a night club.
Ari is, 26 and a second grade teacher, making her own money, and being an adult, but, her parents refuse to let her live on her own, so, she still lives with her parents. Ari has known she's had an arranged married, set up by her parents, but, to whom she never knew.
Gio, is 27, works for his father, going to collect the debt people owe to his father.
This girl was 26? Nope more like 14. What a joke for a lead character. He was great she was a hot mess. Weak and no backbone. The bonus book almost made me break my kindle. You ran out on him. He called and wrote you for years and you never said oh you knocked me up? And she pretends to be the injured party.
Arianna and Giovanni are from separate mafia families and are to be married in an arrangement made by their fathers. Ari is very immature and seems unable to function in any relationship. Just because she has not dated should not make her incapable of communicating and being an adult. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Very enjoyable read. They both are going into an arranged marriage and decide they need a last night out. Not knowing that the one they hook up with is the other one in there arranged marriage. He breaks up with her after that one night and along comes trouble when they finally meet. It is exciting, suspenseful, enjoyable and so much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Married to My Enemy by Nicole Elliot is a good read. An interesting story and fun characters add to the books appeal. Book gives you plenty of drama, passion and angst. A quite good, steamy read. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Good Story This was a sweet story. It was not your typical mafia book because there was not the usual blood and violence. It felt a little rushed. Yet it was a quick fun read. I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
This was a very quick read... I feel like more could come from these characters and the others in the story... I did wish there was a bit more character development... you never got a full understanding of who Ari and Gio were...
Idea was great but I didn't expect such stereotypical amateur writing and characters. I am usually not aware of grammar errors, but this book was full of awkward sentence structures that were so distracting. Needless to say, I didn't finish this book.
I wasn't sure about this book but I ended up truly liking it. I thought the plot was a good one and it was executed wonderfully. Both Ari and Gio were sweet and just sexy. Ari was a little immature at times and jumped to conclusions a little too quick for me, but I still liked her anyway.
This was pretty good story. My only negative was Ari was a little too much for me. She needed to chill. But otherwise I enjoyed this style and really liked Gio characters. Cute ending.
Gio was a little dense as to why Ari was initially upset but that can be overlooked. The drama made me hold my breathe but at least it didn't last long.
I hate when you start reading a book and see your progress bar and am like ooooh I’ve got a ways to go. Then at like 20% the story is over. Because there are like 5 more stories added to the book.... no thanks.
Felt forced and bland. She 'loves' him but keeps looking for the worst in him and never believes him. Oh and she is 26 without ever dating before so she knows for a fact that guys can't be trusted. Then she married him less then a month after meeting him.
