The Airluds Trilogy #3

Goddess Unbound

Rate this book
How do you capture an all-powerful incarnated Goddess? You steal her memories so she thinks she's no one special. But even without knowing who she is, Airsha continues to play her part by finding a new love and turning an enemy into a valuable supporter of the Goddess' cause.

As the war intensifies and the final battle approaches, a lover will die and the world will be set ablaze. Only the unwavering support of the Airluds and the loyalty of two young airling troopers can help Airsha overcome her greatest challenges yet. But even they may not be enough against nightmares that never end.

In the final exciting conclusion to the Airluds Trilogy, the rebellious boy/girl, who grew into a powerful woman, wife and mother, reaches for her ultimate goal: a world in which the Goddess of All Creation is finally Unbound and magic is the birthright of all.

Some steamy (but wholly romantic) scenes may offend. Recommended for mature readers.

Goddess Unbound is the conclusion to the Airlud Trilogy; the story of Airsha, the Goddess Incarnate, her men, and the war for magic. Airsha, the Airluds, and their children are reunited with Flea, Zem and the rest of the rebels. The final battle of the war is quickly approaching when Airsha is kidnapped right out of the rebel stronghold. She is taken by Trace, magical son with the ability to steal memories. Having no idea who she actually is and believing Trace's lies, Airsha falls in love with her captor. Her husbands don't give up easily though and with Flea and Zem's help, Airsha is rescued and returned to the rebels along with Trace. He also has a role to play for the Goddess. Plans are put in place, obstacles faced, and the final battle is waged against the Godling. The outcome will decide if the lands will be ruled by the Godling and his priests. Whether it will be a land where magic is controlled by a few, and others are castrated or put to death to protect the power of these few or if the Goddess will again rule and magic will be free to anyone born with it. Not everyone will make it through the battle either way. The risk will be high, but the fight is a worthy one.

I can't say I was pleased with this book. It's well written, but I was disappointed. The focus was hardly on Airsha and her Airluds. The war was the central focus. I was not pleased at all with the Goddess's plans with the role of Trace, and there was way too much Flea POV. I fell in love with this trilogy because of Airsha, Darkin, Rama, Calun, and Jaron. I felt cheated in this book, because their is very limited brother time. And for Airsha to fall for Trace immediately turned me against him even more. To feed him, be intimate with him, and forgive him so quickly and continue to love him after the truth was revealed and restored left me feeling icky. I felt like everything involving him was too predictable, but even then I couldn't endorse it. The war made a nice backdrop in the earlier books and was obviously going to take center stage for the conclusion, but it was just too much to keep my interest. And I realize that the Author loves Flea, and I swear I tried to give her a chance, but I simply do not like the girl. When she makes the statement that Airsha shared her husband's affections with her, when Jaron refers to her as our girl, my dislike grew even more. I think she's overly familiar with Calun still, intrusive, brash. I don't find it believable considering their beginnings that she would become a valued member of the family and loved by Airsha. So the fact that it felt like half of the book was her's made it less enjoyable to me. I would not be surprised if she gets her own spin off books. I will not be reading them.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity. This was an original, entertaining trilogy, but this particular book missed the mark. It marred the entire trilogy by not focusing on the special love of Airsha and her Airluds. Not enough Darkin. Not enough Rama. Not enough Calun. Not enough Jaron. It's a shame.

I have not finished this book.

I need to say I liked the first 2 books before I say how much I don’t like this one. Knew I was going to have problems from the get go. So much so I won’t be finishing.

From here on there be spoilers for what I did get through.

I have zero tolerance for cheating. Now given her memory was wiped I understand some lee way needs to be applied but when she finally gets back to her husbands and no one raises an eyebrow about the fact that she’s hooked up with her kidnapper/rapist was unbelievable at best.

And yes I said rapist cause that’s what he is. He raped her mind and took her body under false pretenses. Then the author has them fall in love. Beyond ick for me. And that’s saying something cause I usually like dark erotica.

I didn’t like the writing in this book. I no longer liked the characters in this book. I didn’t like the tone it took. I don’t know what happened between the writing of book 2 and this one but this series went from a 3 star for me to a 1. And what’s worse is that I am so upset about this that I have zero desire to read anything else from this author.

The final battle!

Goddess Unbound is the culmination of the Airsha trilogy.
All Airsha wants is to live in peace with her four husbands but this is not to be. Trace is sent by the Godling to kidnap Airsha. His gift is to remove memories from peoples minds - permanently. Having no memories and being in Trace's company constantly, Airsha finds herself falling in love with him. Unfortunately for Trace, he also falls in love with Airsha!
The Goddess works in mysterious ways and this new love in Airsha's life will bring with it far reaching complications. Everyone is frantically looking for Airsha while also frantically trying to prepare for the final war.
This is a complex, well written book that keeps you glued to the pages to the very end!
I love the way in which Nhys writes the love scenes. They are written for a more mature audience who do not need a step by step description of the male anatomy. She writes about love not lust.
I recommend this book and series to anyone who likes fantasy romance with a lot of action.

The author takes the story in an unexpected direction in the beginning with of this final book in the trilogy. It will definitely surprise you. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first but it does reveal some things about the characters and their natures.

I am such a fan of this series. It is so well written and has been a delight to read. I highly recommend it. I have read many of the reverse harem books and this truly is one of the best. The author has focused on developing the characters and the relationships and building those bonds among them all.

You get a real cast of characters and the story told from more than one point of view which I really enjoy. I feel like I really know these characters and have grown to really like them all.

The ending delivered a sense of closure though I will miss the characters. I really enjoyed spending time with them all.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

GROAN, why lose her memories, and this new guy Trace? Makes me feel sad for the guys.I know we were warned (many men) but I am done. DNF at 30% or so, after she was done feeding him like a baby and feeling sexually conflicted. I don't want to spend my time reading about the heroine rediscovering what I already know, thank you very much. Cover art was 5 star beautiful.

Good series

When I started this series I didn't know if I would make it past the first book. The first book was kind of a slow start it doesn't just suck u right in but I'm more than happy that I continued reading the series. The second and third book were absolutely great.

Tied Up the Ends

Truthfully, I found this final book a bit rushed. Even sentences felt rushed to me. I enjoyed the new characters and the storyline, however. Good series overall.

I feel kind of cheated. I loved the Airluds, I love the relationship they had with Airsha. And then Trace came along. Like why???? I get that he was integral to the plot of this story and I get that Airsha has a big heart, but it just seemed like too much. Airsha quietly questioned everything, but she didn't stop to truly question it. I hated how vulnerable she seemed in this book. It's like she was built up to be the Goddess and then tossed into a situation that took it all away.

That whole situation kind of spoiled the book for me. Like I said, there was a purpose and other readers may enjoy it (definitely read for yourself because as with the other books it was well-written and it was good) this story line just wasn't for me.
