She is more than willing to never call attention to herself. But when a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia can't help but do a little investigating for her own benefit. At last, Ophelia has stumbled upon an adventure of her own--but does she possess the skills necessary to solve the mystery without the assistance of her friends?

1. THE DISAPPEARANCE OF LADY EDITH - 4 STARS

I did enjoy how the H/h met, made me laugh. If she was spotted in the tree, which seemed to be close to the road, she would be ruined. Several other times, rules seemed to not be adhered too. Still, I enjoyed the story even though some editing/spelling issues too.

The h and her friends believe their friend was murdered. That part of the story is not handled in this one, of course I have two more books to read in the bundle. I felt sorry for the H, his betrothed ends up marrying his father and he moves out of the house.

This story had some surprises as to another villain who tries to harm the h. If you can suspend belief with what I've mentioned, I think you would enjoy this story.

The h/H only have passionate kisses. But, near the beginning of the story, the h witnesses some women standing naked in a window. She then is fondled by a man, no description of anything taking place, except with your imagination.

No cheating, no cliffhanger for our H/h except the murderer not found, HEA and little on romance. I did enjoy the banter between the H/h at times. (ljb)

2. THE MISFORTUNE OF LADY LUCIANNA - 4 STARS

A murder takes place in book 1 and as I've finished book 2 the murder of their friend is still not solved. So be warned, if you don't read the series, this will be hanging in the air.

At times, the h came across as too brass in her actions. The H needed more of a back bone and I can't believe he let the h's father talk to him the way he did. I still enjoyed the story and how it unfolded.

There is some groping and passionate kisses, but the "act" doesn't happen.

I did enjoy the scene with the h/H fencing. There isn't much romance in either book 1 or 2 so if that is something you like in your stories.

Some mystery, many villains, murder is unsolved, HEA, no cheating, not all is resolved.

3. THE MISADVENTURES OF LADY OPHELIA- 4.25 STARS

This was my favorite until the ending which was rushed. I thought I knew who the murderer was from book 2 and I was correct. I felt the confession of the person, the H's father complete about face and reason was disappointing.

If you are a stickler for Regency Rules, this will upset you because so many rules are broken. But, if you can get past that, it is an interesting story line.

Another clean story with only kisses. I loved the grandma Molly and her dead fast love for her departed husband. The stories she instilled in her grandson warmed my heart and she never gave up in her belief.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance, great banter, but rushed ending. (ljb)

Disappearance of Lady Edith

4 stars
One tragic night changed sensible, proper Lady Edith Pelton’s life: when her best friend Tilda fell to her death from plummeting down a flight of stairs on her wedding night. Did she fall down the flight of stairs or was she pushed by her new husband the Duke of Abercorn. Now, Edith & her friends Ophelia & Lucianna dedicate their time watching the man they think is responsible, whilst gathering information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honour about London. But when her spying is noticed by a perfect stranger, Lord Torrington things take an unexpected turn.
This was a quick, easy & entertaining read, the pace was very good & it kept me reading to the end. There is mystery, kidnapping as well as romance. The characters are well portrayed & have plenty of depth. Triston is trying to avoid scandal after he was the centre of a huge one a couple of years earlier, he’s everything you want in a hero & I could definitely relate to Luci’s vision of him pulling a cart! This is the first in a new series & is a very good series opener & I look forward to the rest of the series where the truth about Tilda’s death will be revealed. Edith is levelheaded & I’m only glad she was a modern woman & was wearing drawers when she tumbled from the tree.

The Misfortune of Lady Lucianna

4 stars
One tragic night changed Lady Lucianna Constantine’s life: when her best friend Tilda fell to her death from plummeting down a flight of stairs on her wedding night. Did she fall down the flight of stairs or was she pushed by her new husband the Duke of Abercorn. Now, Luci & her friends Ophelia & Edith dedicate their time watching the man they think is responsible, whilst gathering information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honour about London.
Quick-witted hellion Lucianna has witnessed the cruelty of London’s beau monde her entire life starting with her own father. So she is more than willing to singlehandedly take down every vile man that crosses her path. Roderick Crofton, the Duke of Montrose, had his entire family fortune stolen when his father trusted the wrong men. After a scandalous article surfaces in the London Daily Gazette, written by the notorious Mayfair Confidential columnist, Roderick finds himself financially destitute, without a betrothed, and lacking the means to find the lords responsible for duping his sire.
Roderick & Luci meet at Bentley’s fencing parlour where they fence & Luci beats Roderick, their attraction is immediate & sizzles but Luci flees on learning Roderick’s name.
A very enjoyable read, the plot is fast paced & I read the book in two sittings. The characters are well portrayed & have depth of character, Roderick & Luci are very likeable & Ophelia is starting to come out of her shell too. This is the second book of the trilogy & continues on from the first book. There is less mystery in this part but there is romance, I was hoping that the mystery surrounding Tilda’s death would progress but it seemed to be on the back boiler apart from the question as to how could Abercorn have changed from his red robe to his formal attire so quickly, I’m looking forward to the third part when all should be revealed. I felt Roderick’s investigation into his lost funds would have been solved & I hope this is also resolved in the last part.

The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia

4.5 stars
Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness Tilda tumbling down the stairs. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavoury men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep from investigating the dashing lord.
Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa Fair Wind worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. The Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honourable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of the Duke of Atholl, and he’ll need to enlist his daughter Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.
This is the third book in the trilogy & whilst it could be read as a standalone book to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the whole series. The plot is very well paced & holds the momentum all the way through. The characters are well rounded with Ophelia & Colin being very likeable but it is Molly who steals the book for me, she is just so delightful & had me in stitches. As well as the obvious attraction between Colin & Ophelia there is the mystery of Colin’s grandfather Fair Wind to solve & also Tilda’s murderer to find. Assumptions aren’t always the truth & more than one character isn’t what they seem. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series but this was my favourite, Ophelia my favourite of the three friends, she was a bookworm but so much more, a compassionate intelligent young woman who deserved to find true love. A delightful, engrossing novel that had mystery, humour as well as romance & a series that I will revisit

*I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith

What a great start to a new series! This one had twists and mysteries that I couldn’t figure out fully and I love that. I was not expecting the reason that she disappeared or who was behind it at all and never knew what was going to happen next with it everything. I loved their first meeting so much! The ending was perfect and I can’t wait for the next one to see how the story unfolds.

Edith is very different. She wants proof before she does anything and isn’t afraid of anything. I loved her from the start because she always seemed to have a plan and she spoke her mind. She also thought of others first even when she was in danger.

Triston will do anything for his sisters even when it mixes with his past. His scandal was not one I expected and it explained a lot. I loved him right away because of how he was with his sisters and that he was a quick thinker.

The Misfortune of Lady Lucianna

The mystery continues! I love that this one picks up from the last one and that the beginning is from Luci’s point of view so it adds to the mystery and I still can’t figure out everything. The way her father was with everyone was shocking and I wondered if he was involved in anything because he was so cruel. The way they met is one of my favorite scenes because it’s very different. I loved they way they got her father to leave her alone and her mother who is very much like her.

Luci is definitely strong and independent. She is determined to take down any men that she believes have done wrong and to not marry who her father decides. I loved her every time she stood up to her father and when she set her mind to do something.

Roderick wanted nothing more than to find out who ruined his father. I was worried about him at first, but he quickly showed his heart and that he would help Luci. I loved him as soon as he met her father and when he told her about what happened.

I can’t wait for the next one!

The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia

The perfect ending to a mystery! I loved it from the start and how everything kept me waiting to know how it would end. Molly adds a whole lot to the story with her interesting ways. The added mystery of the book was amazing and I loved how it brought everything together in the end. I did not see it coming when it was revealed who the murder I had my suspicions on the person, but wasn’t sure and thought something else.

Ophelia is my favorite out of the girls. She decided to go on her own adventure instead of following her friends around. I loved how she was with everyone especially Molly and that she wasn’t going to give up.

Colin is on a mission to end his family war and make his grandmother happy. The way he is with his grandmother will melt your heart and make you love him. I loved him right away and in the end when he was talking with his father.

Four friends are chatting, laughing, celebrating the first of them to marry when tragedy strikes. What happens next profoundly affects the friends. As they investigate each of their futures is jeopardise as they uncover dark secrets, challenge powerful men & unhinged women, accidentally finding champions.
I love the strong friendships, wacky secondary characters & how the ladies find true partners that come to love fiesty, strong, intelligent, witty women.

Okay trilogy

I read this as a boxed set and I can't imagine that the stories would be read independently. The first, involving a kidnapping and rescue was entertaining although the characters were one dimension. The second and third stories lacked both character development and plot development.

This set of books provides a nice long weekend of reading. Each story is unique, but all three reach a satisfying ending. Nicely done.
