True story: I used to cut up bodies. No, not for fun, you sickos–for work. After reaching the age of majority and fleeing the clutches of an overprotective mother, I went to university like a good boy.

More than a decade later and an alphabet soup of letters after my name, I found myself looking down the double-chamber of a microscope at an eyeball. Feeling ironically introspective, I decided that it was time for a change.

After seventy plus novels and more than a million copies sold, I’ve found my true calling, one that also includes a plethora of letters. Hopefully you see something in my catalog that you like, something to feast your eyes on.

I also have two spooky podcasts that are appropriate for ALL ages, so long as you like to be scared: P.T. Logan's Five Minutes of Terror and Camp Fear. Both are FREE and available on all podcast platforms. For MATURE audiences, I've created two fiction podcasts, Nightmare Residue and Bad Priest.

This woman is a wreck!

I really dislike this self absorbed, rude, obnoxious woman. I keep hoping some redeeming quality will emerge but it doesn't. She's like a boat anchor taking everything and everyone down with her. She has no ethics, no morals, and has the worst decision making abilities I've ever heard of. No way should this woman be in any kind of police work. She needs to put on her big girl panties, stop blaming everyone else, and get herself straight. Otherwise open a tent at the carnival as a fortune teller!

I was debating between 3 & 4 stars and settled with 3. The story jumped at times where I felt like I'd missed something or it was omitted. Chase continues to spiral. Its hard to read at times. She's making decisions and some not so smart while suffering withdrawls, etc. Chase was always an in your face character and doesn't always use diplomacy but this addiction is bringing out the absolute worst in her. Her internal dialogue is telling her the truth - ie. the lies, the way she's treating the only the person who has any faith in ther, ie. Stitts. She has so many demons she's battling its surprising that she can even function at all. I find it interesting that the 2 main characters in 2 series are addicts - one to alcohol and this one to heroin. We shall see what the next one brings us. With the ending in this one we know or at least I think we know where Chase is headed. Will she do everything she has to do to recover or will she bullshit her way through it?

Thrilling

The second In the series it is as exciting as the first. As Chase struggles with her addiction she has found a ally in her mentor and partner. This novel is as thrilling as the first. The short chapters keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting for more. The relationship between Shifts and Chase makes you cautiously hopeful that she will find in him someone she can rely on and find strength in To overcome her addiction. I will definitely continue the other books in this series. The genre is surely one of my favourites , and writing style mirrors one of my favourite authors.

A Functioning Dope Addict....?

No one but Chase Adams😕. The question our questions this story leaves me wondering....Which force or forces drives us harder. Is it guilt, desire, conviction, need, revenge ,or hatred, be aimed at ourselves or others. I know, back to the review, great continuation of book one. Great story, GREAT READ. KUDOS to Patrick Logan, I'm waiting for the movie😀

The Big Hurt

Chase has an I problem from her past that is destroying her life. A profiler with an uncanny intuition, her life in the FBI is so troubled, she is constantly chasing her own demons as much as the unsubs. A little quick on the draw with story development, but, a good cast of characters and mystery. A series worth reading.

FBI Agent Chase Adams is assigned to case about 4 murdered women. She is always hoping that investigating her cases she might find the kidnapper who abducted her sister when she was a child. She always blamed herself, as when the man stopped to offer them a ride, her sister got in, and she ran. It doesn't help that Chase can touch the "dead victims" and get vibes from them about their last minutes.

Chase, though, is fighting her own demons in this one. She is scared that she is not going to pass the drug test to officially become an FBI Agent and she knows when they take a hair folic test, she will be done. She doesn't understand why, but for some reason she passed and she is on the case. It still doesn't stop Chase from trying to get drugs every chance she gets. She really needs help, but she is a good profiler and her partner seems to be watching out her.
I don't know whether to like Chase or not because of the addiction to drugs, but she is one that you really are drawn to. She is facing all the demons in her life and they seem to be just getting worse. On this case, she see's the killer of these women, but the rest of the police force don't believe in her. Will she get her act together before she is confronted by the killer?

Heavily formulated & predictable

Before starting this book moments after finishing the 1st in the series I wrote down my thought as to what pitfalls would be used. All of the ones I wrote down were used. This book followed a pattern so predictable it was almost laughable. The writer is so in love with this character that I don't think he sees that she's not that likable and is a cliche. Disappointment was the only thing I felt when reading this book because it had potential. The whole "seeing" the crimes or events happening around the time the crimes occurred could be awesome if there was a better story to go with it & she wasn't like 90% of the other female detective & FBI agents written about. The flawed "anti-hero" who breaks all the rules to get justice & the man, like in this case, her senior officer that puts everything on the line to get her out of trouble & she abused that obvious affection he feels for her. I'm reluctant to read the next book but being that it starts at rehab I'm hoping that will be put to bed & they can move on to a better tool to give her dimension.

The main character is a junkie

You can beat around the bush and call her a heroin addict but basically she is a junkie.
Authors like to create realistic characters with some flaws. Probably to make their audience feel better

I, however, deal with addicts during my week.
High functioning addicts. Alcoholics and drug users.
I work with homeless vulnerable adults and myself and colleagues see the signs. Most are honest and come out with information including any previous jail time and what for and will tell you if they take something.

Those that don’t disclose and only a few do this then it’s very easy to spot an addict. We aren’t FBI profilers but we are on the frontline with the very vulnerable in society and yes some hold down jobs but not many.

Not sure how well the author researched heroin addiction to add to his character but if you believe a character can do this then I have some magic beans to sell you.

Will have to read serious reviews before I attempt another Chase Adams as the lost sister whining in flashbacks is a downer.
Maybe they treat her PTSD and other problems?

The story line revolves around a woman named Chase who’s training to become an FBI agent so she can hopefully find her missing sister. Chase is a struggling addict in the middle of a divorce and custody battle. She likes difficult cases and tends to want cases that have women for victims.

I like that the storyline is fast paced and is entertaining. There were not any slow parts and the characters are relatively likeable. The ending have a good twist when it came to solving the case.

I did not like this book as much as I liked book 1. The addiction part was a little drawn out during the entirety of the book and it took focus away from the case of the murdered women. I think there could’ve been a lot more focus on the actual case versus Chase and her personal issues, the case lacked a lot of detail and felt rushed.

★★★ Not too much of a fan of this one. But because of my OCD issues, I won’t leave a series unread, I will continue on to book 3.

Chase gets it done!

I really like Chase because she is a fighter. Even at her worst times she wants to catch the right person for the crime. All of her demons are catching up in this book and she isn’t hiding as well as she thinks. She is an addict and nothing will change what she has been through. This book was filled with how drugs consume her thoughts/life right now but that is the reality of a drug addiction. She has someone on her side that wants her to succeed. I hope she makes the best choice.

STILL DECIDING

I don't really know how to rate my experience.....good tale, expertly spun with mostly interesting characters. Unfortunately, I just really don't much like Chase. I understand she has issues more intense than most of us but I don't have empathy for her because I don't excuse her rudeness and spending so much time in her screwed up, addictive mind got boring and irritating. That said, I'll read the next one.

I wanted more profiling and working the case and less of Chase's drug issues. I figured who killer was from the start. Chase is too much of a train wreck for my taste. Not sure why Stitts (I think that's his name not sure?) went out on a limb for her??? Chase is too busy blaming everybody for her problems. Too much of other things going on than the case. I was entertained but wanted way more from the story. I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Nothing dull about this series. You will want more.

You will either love her or hate her, but you will never, ever find her boring. This is the second book in the Case Adams series that I have read, and I must say I can't wait to read more. Each murder investigation branches out into so many unexpected areas that you won't want to stop reading. So, I am on to book 3 and am already wondering what is next for Ms. Adams.

A page turner:

I have rated the second book of this series a four star. It was a good exciting read but, I already knew the ending of the book.
It really bothered me that she kept on using and blaming what she went through regarding her sister's disapearence ect. She's a FBI agent risking her life and her partners by not being honest. Other than that it was a good read. The plots the murders who done it. And trying to find her little sister abductors is interesting.

Shadow Suspect is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that showcases Patrick Logan at his best. From the opening pages, the suspense is relentless as readers are pulled into a chilling murder investigation that spirals into something far darker. Logan masterfully blends psychological tension with forensic detail, keeping you guessing until the final reveal. With its tight plotting and sinister twists, Shadow Suspect is a must-read for fans of smart, atmospheric crime thrillers.

I'm so hooked!!

This is just an awesome series just as Damien Drake's is outstanding! Kudos to Logan for writing some spectacular stories. I liked his horror, and I am enthralled in his detective series! They need a little extra editing, which I would do in a heartbeat, but other than that no disappointment to be had!

An addict?

If a real heroin could not go without for 5 days. Every thought, everything she did in those 5 days would be about getting heroin! It would be impossible to eat or sleep after the first day or 2, let alone work! Otherwise the book was good but I’ve read better by this author

Finished reading book 2 Shadow Suspect from Patrick Logan's Chase Adams FBI Thrillers. Enjoying the fact that the book keeps you wanting to turn the page to see what happens next. It keeps the pace up, continues to add the bits and pieces of Chase Adams past that leaves you wanting to know more (now).

Our troubled heroine's story continues

I love Patrick Logan's books but I gave "Shadow Suspect" only three stars because, as a Virginian, I could not overlook that Quantico is in Virginia, not West Virginia. Otherwise, I would have given 4 stars.

Chase Adam's has big time problems

Chase has a sad and hard history . Like so many, she finally has some of what she has always wanted, but still not enough to make the guilt go away. She has a lot of work to do.

One tough lady

So far I have enjoyed the Chase Adams character. Tiny and with a bad attitude. Either she knows how to get things done or makes it hapoen.
Wish editors didn't only depend on spell check. Too many errors and not only in this book.

Too explicit for me.

I don't appreciate the drugs at all. The book would have been MUCH better had Patrick Logan not gone into such detail about Chase's addiction and the description of her drug use. TMI.

I won't be reading the next book which I bought along with the first two.

The main character is so unlikable, and makes so many bad decisions, yet I can't help but like her. She has been through a lot and she just won't give up! I guess that is what I like about her most. This is another great series by Patrick Logan. Looking forward to book 3!

This girl needs help!!! I do mean a lot of help, but I truly believe the author has connected with a small percentage of the population that has for one reason or another been put in a situation similar to chase and has failed to rehabilitate. I look forward to reading more about her journey.

Good story overall

I like Chase and the story. I had a hard time following some of the transitions and how things could work with how clearly she made wrong decisions. I am intrigued by her quest for the sister and by agent Stitts support. Will read more of this series.

Too repetitive

I choose this rating because I kept thinking I was reading her first book, which I also thought wasn't great, decided to try second one and give benefit of my doubt . I read a lot of murder mysteries but I didn't like this.

Lots of gross things.

In spite of everything I kept going back for more.
The book gave me a new outlook on exactly what drugs can do to your life.
