One of the hardest things for a Christian to overcome is accepting the sovereign will of God when it’s contrary to their desires. As we are living in the times the Bible refers to as the “last days,” we see death, tragedy, disease, chaos and despair almost daily. However, when Death hits your front doorstep it’s not only a direct hit to your heart, but a mega blow to your faith. Dylan Smith knows this feeling all too well. In fact, Death has come to his doorstep time and time again. He’s had enough and his faith is nonexistent. After moving through life like a zombie, he decides to make a date with death on his own terms – suicide. As he contemplates taking his life, he gives one last rant to let God know exactly how he feels. What he wasn’t expecting was that Death himself would walk through the door. The encounter not only shakes him to the core, but confronts the decision he’s recently come to. The Angel of Death gives him information he was not prepared for. Death challenges Dylan not to return YHWH’s breath back to Him prematurely and see past his pain to the sovereign will of God. Dylan is given the chance to discover just how powerful Jehovah Shalom really is.
When you pick up a book by Melinda Michelle you should expect for your eyes to be opened, your heart to race, your emotions to rise and your faith to be taken up a notch. Purpose is her passion and with that passion she weaves a story about the matchless power of the Almighty God through the written word by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is her desire to awaken the Body of Christ to not only the power that they have, but the knowledge that they truly wrestle not against flesh and blood.

Grief can be damaging if we don't get a handle on it. It will sap all of our strength to live and move forward in life. Dylan was stuck in the valley of his grief until he had a divine encounter that let him know that God loved him and would restore all that was lost.
When I read this book, I was overjoyed because I know that in the worst of times, God is looking out for us. He love us, and wants the best for us. If we only turn our cares over to Him, He will heal and restore us, and give us a fresh start. Nothing is as seems when we look at it with our natural eyes, but if we can get a glimpse of it with our spiritual eyes, oh, what joy we would have. If you are suffering with grief, wrap yourself up in Jesus, and allow Him to comfort you. No, it won't be easy, and some days will seem worse than others, but stand, and you will survive; that is the message of A Date With Death.
As always Melinda Michelle has went outside of the box and against the grain. Although this is a novella it is packed with a great storyline and thought provoking questions and content. I hope that we will see more of these new characters in her future work.
Every Melinda Michelle novel leaves you wanting more and this is no different. A Date with Death is one of the best breakdowns of death and God's sovereignty I have ever read.
Melinda Michelle strikes again! This woman cannot write a bad book. This book was so thought provoking every time I think she can't bring something new into my relationship with Christ she does! No drama just a good story line and when you put yourself in the characters shoes you wonder would you be the same way. I know I probably would have been but God! This book is a super quick read and even though its a novella I want a part 2 or for her to include them in another book.
Once again God has used Melinda to minister to my spirit. This story not only helped me,but will be a great help to my friends. We all have a purpose for our lives and God is waiting for us to willingly accept the call on our lives.
I pray that this story will bless others the way it has blessed me. To God be the glory.
This book was beautiful testimony to how God loves us all. Even in our darkest moments he is there and waiting for us to turn to him. Dylan and Keshia have a beautiful story about working through grief and getting to the other side. Roni is full of life little girl who is great part of this love story. I want more.
Dylan was contemplating his last day on earth. But the angel of death assignment changed him. A profound statement in the book is where death said, "Every human has an appointed time to meet me. Today is not your day unless you want it to be. The choice is yours." He sought out his assignment and walked in it. He found love and gained a family. This was a beautiful told love story of redemption. This author never seems to amaze me with her inspiring stories filled with scripture and prayers.
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this inspiring love story, that touched me on many levels. The message in the book is powerful, yet thought-provoking. It encouraged me to revisit my perspective on death and life.
It was a well-written story with great character development. I love books that keep me glued to the pages. I can't wait for author Melinda Michelle’s next book. Grab your copy!
