Steven and Komoru finish their ambassadorial training and set off on their first mission; what their instructors failed to tell them was that the life expectancy of a Goodwill ambassador is very short indeed. The dangers however, very quickly become apparent to both of Earths first Galactic Goodwill Ambassadors. Can Steven and Komoru, put an end to a two-thousand-year-old conflict, and bring a species, once thought to be dead, back from extinction, or end up on a dinner plate themselves.
In this book ‘Charlie’ has become the main character and most things that happen involve him in one way or another. This was fine, but I did miss the interaction with the original two ships. There are still numerous inconsistencies, but this was probably the best book in the series so far. However I am not sure where the author is going with this series as even I can see real problems with the 'universe' he has created, it's as if he forgets what he has already written.
It's a good book to a great series. It does have some editing errors but I don't let that detract me from reading this series. I'll definitely be waiting for the next book of this series.
I was enjoying this series the physics was bad but it is getting worse. It would be alright if he was describing some form of magic. But first he creates a weapon that deletes energy from the universe even though I think he only intended for it to break the molecular bonds without applying any kinetic force to the resulting cloud of atoms. But where did the energy contained in those bonds go.
Then he goes and tries to describe some form of thruster but makes it sounds like the energy of a microwave is being multiplied thus adding energy to the universe.
I could acept that the rules of the universe turned out to allow accelerating past the speed of light. I am used to authors adding elements to the periodic table that contradict how the periodic table is formed and where elements can be added to it the unbalanced distribution of elements in the galaxy meh. Not understanding some of the finer points of the laws of motion.
I can move past some of this but it isn't jarring and disruptive to the flow of the book. Every time I hit what is to me a blatant breaking of the universe even and in a way that does not look intentional I have to stop reading and try to accept it. It his also becoming more frequent. Maybe I will come back to this series. If I get bored enough.
Mistakes: couple missing letters, and I don’t mean those from accents. One wrong word. Plot: Kidnapping, rescues, aliens all over the place and a plot to overthrow an emperor. Characters: The Mc from the first book is becoming a support character. Charlie is swiftly becoming the new Mc. Interesting people in these stories. 8/10
The story continues. This is where I stopped reading the first time around because the series ended at book number 4, but boy was I excited to see that there were 3 more published when I started reading the series again this time. So from here on every story is new and fresh and exciting!
Story was good in the first and second books but I feel like there is something missing in the third and fourth, doesn't justify putting the price up either. It's there were some fun bits and got to know the characters batter
A nice little adventure without the whole drama and tension of the extinction treat. The characters developed nicely and the lack of political intrigue and backstabbing was a refreshing sight.
I like this series. However there is a discrepancy in between the books that bothers me. In the beginning you couldn’t beam a person or pod , then you could and did in a book then in this book you can’t beam the pod again.
