Nothing grounding breaking. I have heard or read about the topics covered in this book (ex emphatic listening etc). And I don't believe just by having a better communication with your spouse will make your marriage better. There are plenty of other things involved to make a marriage better.I don't recommended the book.

I found this book to be a hidden gem. I only bought it because it appeared in my Amazon suggested feed and I wanted to read something shorter. Even though a lot of the book combines lessons from other books, I appreciated the anecdotal segments. It takes the best of everything out there and provides clear, actionable advice. If you're a newlywed or recently married, this book is great!

Very practical advices

I liked that is based on personal experiences; it is not theoretical, but practical. And that is the reason for the rating.

I would recommend this to anybody in any situations, as this is very useful for personal growth too.

The Grammar Killed Me

The message/s in this book might be good, but after reading 20% of the book, I had to abandon it. Did no one edit this writing? The use of plural antecedents with singular pronouns ruins this book and the messages the authors are trying to pass on to readers.

These authors consistently refer to a person's spouse [singular] as "they" [plural]. Do the authors suppose that people have more than one spouse at a given time? We don't usually find that in America, except for a few religious communities.

If grammar blunders are not important to a person, he or she might find some value in this book. Being unable to finish it, I cannot make that claim.

This is a very good tool to help you communicate better with your spouse. It is very easy to understand for all types of people. It is very easy to put our partners on the backburner while life takes us for a ride. This will help open you both up for communication and for a much happier relationship.

Excellent Book

I highly recommend this book if you have trouble opening up and finding the words to express yourself to your spouse. It may seem common sense to some people, but they have some really good questions to ask yourself and your spouse to make for a better relationship.

Great read

Very informative, with steps you can easily implement and follow. I learned what my preferred method of communication was and how that can be different from another's way of communication. Understanding this basic principles of difference was really eye opening and changed my perception of how people communicate. We may say the same words, but the intention can be totally different. I recommend this book to any couple struggling to communicate in their marriage.

Good reminder for those who have been married a long time

My husband and I have been married for 25 years and our communication had really fallen off over the years. This book has some good reminders of how you want to be communicated with as well as how to make sure your spouse knows what you want as well. Listening skills get lost with time. Great refresher.

Meh, simplistic and nothing new. I guess this books speaks to some people and that's great. There's nothing new here if you have read any relationship books at all. Sometimes it just takes reading it from a slightly different angle to get something to speak to you. This didn't speak to me, but if it does to others that's great.

I have been given similar advice by a close friend and this reinforces his helpful tips. I think the book needs to focus on building and rebuilding trust. I know that communication is key, but trust is second and close to first.

I’m about to be a new wife in a few months l and decided to read this. A lot of what’s in this book are definitely things I already know but in the moment I may not pull to use as a resource. I’ll read this again when married just to use as a refresher

Great overview and practical

This book highlights many of the issues found in marital communications. It brings a very practical understanding to these issues and helps to see how to make movement forward rather that backward.
