I worked my way through book 1 solely because the story was an engaging rambling narrative, and I’m a fan of those. The going was rough, but overall it was a nice little read. The engaging and rambling continue nicely here in book 2, but HOO BOY does this story need editing! Verb tenses and phrases scream piteously for mercy, and there is none. The story is good - honest - and there’s growth everywhere, but something happened on the way to release and, well... wow.
I will still say that it’s a good story and worth reading via Kindle Unlimited, but I can’t recommend it until it’s been polished more. Once that happens it too will be a fun read.
I love the main characters Roland and shadow. There's lots of stuff hinted at in this book for the next one to explore and I'm very excited to read it!
