Side Effects #2

Side Effects: Book Two: Visions of Despair

Rate this book
In the last week, the world has turned to madness. But Mitch is a man who overcomes, and this is no different. Now that his family is back together, all they need to do is hunker down and stay safe. At least that was the plan until one of their own was taken by a madman whose sanity has slipped away along with the world’s safety. Mitch quickly realizes that the zombies outside are not the biggest threat. The true threat lies with human fear--taking over rational thoughts which in-turn leads to devastating decisions.

Juliette knows how lucky she was to be saved by this mysterious family and invited into the relative safety of their cabin. But she is struggling to pull herself from the depths of despair as she tries to process the loss of her sister and the rest of the madness that threatens to pull her under forever. As she forms bonds with each of her new found friends, she begins to see that there is still reason to fight.

At the heart of their mismatched group is a peculiar little boy with seemingly endless wisdom and insight. But the truth of the future may prove to be a burden that is too heavy to carry, and the weight of it may snuff out the last remaining shreds of hope.

I loved this book! It had a little bit of everything that I enjoy reading in this genre. I have a hard time finding books like this to read because there are few of them. Most are not on par with this Author and the world she has created in this story. You always have the "zombies", but what I love and what she has accomplished very well, is throwing a little twist in! You meet a little boy who is affected in a special way by what is going on around him. He can see different things that are going to happen and he uses his gift to help those protecting him. In the first book you meet him and the ones who found him and pretty much saved him. This story is involved and it flows smooth. I had no issue reading the story and staying involved through the whole thing! I took my Kindle to work to read on my break even, and I don't normally do that..lol! I am excited for this series to continue and I am VERY curious on how she is going to continue this without breaking it up too much considering how the end came about for this book 2. I recommend this book for anyone who loves the "zombie apocalypse" genre, or if you love survival with a twist!

Awesome

What sucks is the wait now for the next book...just a helpful suggestion to the author could the next book be 400 or even 500 pages long?? I flew through this one way too fast and before I knew it was sadly at the end of the book....I don't want them to end

Well what can I say, this author keeps going from strength to strength, I enjoyed the second book in the series immensely, the fact that she mixed it up by focusing on different characters POV's this time round most definitely kept me interested and wanting more.
It's a refreshing apocalyptic book which focuses not only on the outbreak of a Zombie apocalypse but the trials and tribulations of the ones left behind, unturned and fighting for survival. Also having the added knowledge from a powerful and unlikely source, that the government has the power which could ultimately cause the end all hope for the remaining civilisation in the world as they know it.
I really am looking forward to the next instalment and can not wait to see where the journey takes them, and which characters POV's will be focused on next.

Great read

I fell in love with all of the characters in this book. This is a well written Zom book it actually has a story line, some books don’t. It’s just one Zom fight after another. The author pulls you into the story.

A Great Read!

Loved the characters, loved the way the story is unfolding! The story has depth of character and story. This isn't a litany of weapons and destruction. It has heart! Can't wait for the next

Loved the book

Great characters, each person has a full feeling that you either love or hate. The storyline moves right along, which I absolutely love.
I hope to see book 3 very soon, like pronto. Thank you for a great book.

Amazing next chapter

But thus can't be the end of the series. There are too many things left hanging! I loved the storyline and how things progressed, but it needs more closure.
