Two misfits. One great love. Bethia may be the former Ramsay laird’s daughter, but she fears she’ll never marry. She loves her cousins, but their beauty makes her feel plump and plain in comparison. The lads never notice her like they do the others. She’s most confident when she’s nursing the clan’s animals back to health, yet her heart desires a family of her own. Then a man rushes to the castle gates, desperate for someone to save his dog, and Bethia’s simple life changes forever. The tragedy in Donnan’s past ruined him. For the past two years, he has shunned his adopted clan. He now lives alone, beyond the castle gates, and associates only with his beloved dogs. But when one of the dogs is injured, and beautiful Bethia is the one who treats her, he realizes there may be room in his heart to love again. Her kindness is just the salve he needs to recover from the past—if he can bring himself to share his secrets with her. The Ramsays’ enemy, Bearchun, watches them, eager to ruin the clan once and for all. He’s certain that Bethia and Donnan might be the key to destroying them. But has he underestimated the two misfits?

Loved it, loved it! Bethia and Donna's story had me glued to my Kindle screen! I loved how this author brought these two characters together.

Bethia Ramsay is Quade and Brenna Ramsay's daughter. She has always felt she just blends in because her sisters and cousins are beautiful and she feels she is not. She is a bigger girl and she looks like her mother. She is the healer of animals. One day she is quite taken back at a very large bearded, and somewhat unkept, man who comes barreling through the gates and he is beside himself. His dog has been very badly injured. Whispers are that he is daft. She knows she must help him and she is amazed because she realizes he really sees her.

Donnan Douglas has lived alone for four years. His past has made him withdraw from the Ramsay castle. He is still loyal to them, but he lives outside of the castle, alone, with his dogs. When one of his beloved dogs is injured he can't let her die, so he races to the castle and begs for help. The Laird's sister is willing to come out and help his beloved pet. She is stunning in his eyes.

With danger now lurking once again, the Ramsay's are on alert.

I loved the fact that the author included all of the Ramsay's. This was great. I love that Uncle Logan was involved quite a bit. He has been my favorite. There were moments if intense sadness and moments where I laughed out loud.

Loved it!

3.25⭐️ I liked aspects of this, I think it was a sweet romance but I think there were some things I really didn’t enjoy. This has a sweet storyline and I think Donnan was a strong MMC that showed his love and support of the FMC Bethia. He stood up for her, loved her for who she was and communicated clearly with her. The thing I didn’t like was the constant comments and back handed compliments that were made about the FMCs size. Even when her mother was complimenting her on her wedding day it was backhanded. I think if that aspect wasn’t included I would have given it a higher rating. I did enjoy the storyline though.

I really love Bethia and Donnan. Two misfits, who find comfort with each other. It was really sweet. I hated anytime someone tried to hurt them. This was probably also the couple in the series that I felt most protective of.

I was getting ready to give up on this series because it was starting to become a bit repetitive in similar story lines to me (as much as I loved the founding characters). However, when I saw this was Bethia's story, I had to give it one last try. I'm very glad I did because the author certainly did Bethia justice! :)

Autumn 1280's
Highlands of Scotland

Bethia Ramsay is the former Laird’s daughter who adores her female kin, but feels she doesn't compare to her attractive cousins. She notices the lads pay little or no attention to her as well. Therefore Bethia feels she will never attain her dream -of a husband and bairns. Something she desires very much, but fears will never become a reality. The only time she is confident and self assured, is when she is caring for the clan’s sick animals to health.

One day she hears this awful gut wrenching scream from the barn. Bethia feels certain it's a hurt animal and is shocked when she finds out it's a man! This man's appearance at first frightens her with his long unkempt hair and beard. She sees him in a different light the way his heart is broken over his dogs health, a severe dagger wound in the belly from a stranger!

Finding out this a Donnan Douglas a man who abandoned his adoptive clan for reasons of his own. Due to his devastating past Donnan became a loner and only has his Deerhounds for company. After Bethia treats Donnan’s dog whose dog was stabbed with a dagger by an evil stranger. He begins to see beautiful Bethia in a different light. As it is the first time he considers opening his cold heart to warmth again. As he too has self esteem and confidence issues due to his brutal past.

A stranger took a dagger to Donnan’s sweet dog when he was out hunting. A dog he was given from Bethia’s brother and Laird Torrian . He is suspicious it is Bearchun as it seems he is stalking The Ramsey clan once again. With danger at ever turn plus Bearchun’s treachery and evil schemes are surfacing once again. This time he thinks the daft Bethia and Donnan will help in bringing the Ramsay’s demise once and for all.

Will they or shall they surprise this villian with protective and warrior instincts? Will Donnan be able to let go of his past? Will Bethia ever be able to make her dreams come true? I highly recommend to read this spectacular book to find out the answers and so much more.

This is the tenth book and I have read and devoured each and every one. Yes you can read as a stand alone, but so much more fun to read them all. I love connecting all the family dots and getting to know all the characters and whose related to who.

Again another breathtaking exhilarating read that will leave you wanting more. Filled with nail biting, non-stop-action, adventure, suspense, mystery, betrayal, love and so much more. Plus I love that Ms. Montclair allows us to revisit favorite Ramsay/Grant characters again and again. I feel part of their family reunion. In addition if you are a dog, furbaby or animal lover than this book is definitely for you. It sure pulled my heartstrings!

Again Keira Montclair pens another exhilarating that I could not put down. It has all the elements historical Scottish romance readers love from breathtaking settings, colorful characters, swoon worthy heroes plus twisting and turning plots.

This is a good Highlander romance, and a good addition to the Highland Clan series. This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I liked Donnan, and thought he was good for Bethia. She needed someone to help her see that she deserved to be loved, and that their was nothing wrong with her size -- and he did that.

I liked Bethia, and understood how her size had given her terrible self-esteem issues. She had dealt with bullying and rude comments for years, so she had come to believe that no man could desire a big woman like her. I liked how Donnan was able to convince her that she was perfect for him, and that he actually preferred her over "skinny" women. I did think, though, that it would have taken her longer than it did to get over her self-esteem issues -- she had spent years believing she was fat/ugly, so I think it would have taken a long time for her to get past that.

I was glad that Bethia and Donnan found their HEA -- they were good together, and they both needed someone who understood them, and would always be in their corner.

I also liked most of the other characters, especially the children, who were adorable. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I really enjoyed Keira Montclair's latest installment of the Highland Clan series.

Bethia is truly a gentle soul who is oftentimes more comfortable around animals than people. She has learned the art of healing from her mother and aunts and is ready to start a family of her own. However, she feels unworthy and sees herself as unattractive and plain as compared to her sisters and cousins.

Donnan is a quiet man. While he had once been a warrior, he is now a thinker and an inventor. His past experiences with women and people in general have led him to live a life of solitude. When one of his beloved dogs is attacked, however, he seeks out the help of the Ramsey healers and begins having feelings he has not had for many years . . . possibly ever. When he finds out that Bethia Ramsey, the one who has stirred his long forgotten heart may be at risk, he decides he will do everything in his power to keep her safe.

Will both Bethia and Donnan be able to come their own insecurities to give a relationship between the two of them a chance? And, will they be able to outwit the enemy looking to take down the Ramsey clan and anyone who stands in their way before it is too late?

Keira Montclair has done it again. Each tale is unique and this is no exception. I loved both Bethia and Donnan's characters as well as their interactions with the rest of the clan . . . especially Uncle Logan who is having a very hard time watching all of his lassies grow up. It's a fantastic tale of highland love and adventure and one fans of the series will truly enjoy! 5 stars.

Great read

It is a privilege to review Bethia and so good gave it 5 stars. When starting this book, it is like visiting old friends. I love this Grant/Ramsay family, and feel as I am a part of it. I love every member, and Bethany is very special. You feel close, as she has such doubts about herself. I felt such empathy. I love how she has, as all members of clan, a very special gift and quality. She has such love of animals, and gift to take care of them. I liked both H/h so much. This, as usual in all her books, is full of adventure, intrigue, and romance, with a little steam, adding to the story. It is so much fun, again seeing the whole family with special talents put to good use. All the women are strong and have unusual talents. Author brings you in from beginning, and keeps you there till very happy end. It makes you feel like you are holding your breath all the way through till happy end. It can be standalone, but my advice is to start from first book of this series, so you know each members of the clans. I know you will love all of them. I can't wait for next book. As you can tell, I highly recommend this, as I do all of her awesome books. I could write so much more, but you might not believe it, and should read for yourself.

Love it!! THE HIGHLAND CLAN series is exciting and exhilarating. While book 10, it can it read as and a stand alone.
Well written, fast paced, page turner that will keep you glued to the pages. The plot is very intriguing, adventurous and of course, romantic. It has twists and turns and a few surprises along the way. Fantastic and mesmizing!
Bethia and Donnan’s story is one of past tragedy and sorrows, that brings them closer together. They understand each other. Bearchun, the Ramsay's clan swore enemy, plans to watch and wait, before he destroys the Ramsay clan forever, or so he thinks.
BETHIA is a powerful and compelling story of opposite attraction to each other, and the irony of a hermit and a misfit finding love and a HEA.
Ms. Montclair manages to pull readers into her stories with her descriptions, her characterizes, her seamlessly and effortlessly writing style and her exotic Scotland. Magnificent!!! A must read and a definite keeper. A true treasure!

Bethia (The Highland Clan Book 10)

This has been my favorite book in this series so far. I was so glad Bethia was portrayed as a full-figured woman and a beautiful heart of gold and a great love of animals, which is how Donnan and her meet. I liked how it depicted her struggle with her self-esteem because of her size, but she evolves into a strong confident woman as the story unfolds. Her hero has been hurt emotionally due to many factors, but he has so much to offer Bethia. I wish more authors would follow suit of Keira Montclair and develop heroes and heroines that are larger in body as well as in life because not all of us have tiny waists and reed thin bodies. I like that the author doesn't ignore her past characters and puts them in tiny barely mentioned roles as they age over the years. You truly feel like the characters are alive. I've read well over half of her books so far, and each one is special in its own way. I've had trouble stopping myself from reading them straight thru and will instead read way up into the middle of the night.

Bethia by Keira Montclair
The Highland Clan Series Book Ten
Bethia Ramsay is feeling out of sorts. She is bothered by her size and that she's not as beautiful as her sisters and cousins. So many of her younger cousins have married already. She doesn't even have a suitor. What she does have is a love for animals and the talent to heal them.

Donnan Douglas never wants to marry again. Life had kicked him once and that was enough. He lives in a home away from others, but still on Ramsay land. When Bethia comes to help his dog after it's been hurt, he sees something in her that almost makes him want to try again.

A series of events come between Bethia and Donnan. Such as; people who are set on revenge and will use anyone...even children...to get their revenge. I love the characters in these stories. It's always fun to read about the infamous Logan and Gwyneth...or the great Alex Grant.

It's here, another wonderful romp into the highlands with our favourite family, Ramsey/Grant.

Bethia Ramsey feels quite plain when amongst her more beautiful cousins and is only confident when nursing the clans animals, so when Donnan, who lives outside the gates due to a self imposed exile from his adopted clan, comes rushing in to ask for help after one if his dogs is hurt, she helps him. This is where it all starts, there is an enemy of the clan who wants to ruin them and he thinks that Bethia and Donnan just might be the key.

This story is exhilarating, it's fast paced, it has mystery, betrayal, dogs, twists and turns, you'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll be hooked from page one, I just love the banter, this is family, this is what they do, they look out for each other, and Ms Montclair writes it well

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my own opinion

Bethia

I have read all these books and impatiently await the next one in 2018. Beth and Donnan are the perfect couple in this story. Animal lovers as well as people lovers always makes for a special story. They meet when Donnan's dog is struck by a knife wound. Bethia is an animal healer and he has come for her to save his dog. During the ensuing days of her visits to care for the animal they come to be attracted to each other. Donnan and Bethia is a warm and tender love story but not without the adventure that finally brings them together forever. I will not give you the whole story here as you should buy the book to learn more about these two lovers. . Happy Reading !!!

I instantly connected right with Bethia who is a strong willed, smart, & kind person who loves to help animals through medicinal ways she learned from her mother, Brenna & other healers. I could not put this book down & could really feel myself sharing her healing experiences (especially with Shewolf - a special experience was also found in Lily-The Highland Clan Book with her wolves). As an animal lover, I can't get enough 'animal stories', but this has even more with revenge, love & all the ;hunky Ramsay clan men & Bethia's love, handsome & kind, Donnan, along with some lasses saved & bad men defeated! This is my favorite book Keira has written since the early Grant & Ramsay series' began - loved it & can't wait to see what happens in the beginning of the next series!

Best yet

This book had all the regular faces with the addition of Donnan and his family. What I liked about this one is that it was still the same with the family and they still had one more bad guy to deal with. However, I liked that Bethia tended to animals instead of people. It actually made it refreshing as this story was so different from the others. This book was one of my favorites of this series. I still have Loki's Christmas to read but I am not sure that book could out do this one. I highly recommend this book to read, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Wonderful!

Each one of these books gets better and better! Th I s one especially resonated with me. In today's world outward appearance seems all that matters, when life teaches us to look at the heart for true character. Bethia is a heroine after my own heart! Loved the story! Hate to see this part of the story close, but am looking forward to the next chapter! Love the Ramseys and the Grants!

Another amazing book by Keira Montclair! I can't get enough of the Grants and Ramsays. Montclair's wonderful writing brings readers right into the medieval Scottish highlands. It's so easy to fall in love with the characters I've gotten to know so well. Bethia's story of finding and accepting yourself was so captivating, I wasn't able to put my Kindle down until the very end!

Another wonderful story from Keira. Bethia always thought herself plain and heavy, but someone thought her beautiful the way she is. There were a lot of cruel remarks to her, but she had the love and devotion of her family. Donnan had his own cross to bear and a crazy wife to deal with. Of course there was Berchum as well. Love is the best healing there is.

The Highland Clan Ramsey are a close knit family and skilled group of warriors. Donnan,The Fourth Earl of Panmure, takes a liking to shy Bethia Ramsey much to her Uncle Logan's distaste. He considers her too young and innocent to be courted. Bethia's gift of healing and her love of all animals are her only company. But, Donnan will not give up to prevail to their HEA.

Rating 3.5 This was not too bad. At least Bethia and Donnan were a bit different characters. Bethia was not beautiful and Donnan was a recluse which led to a different story of them finding each other and falling in love.
