He is a widower and yearns for love, but he knows that no woman will want a man with a troublesome child. Can he find love again, and if so, will love transcend the bonds of ethnicity and stir up his heart again? In the most unlikely way, the little girl bridges the gap bringing these two special souls together. Out of the Shadows and Into The Light is a series of stories that follow the emotional journeys of four courageous ladies who refuse to be broken, and find God’s best plan for their future.
Thoroughly enjoyed this last entry for this series! The Senator had me cracking up. The issues dealt with are spot on. For awhile during that time period many people of color prospered and were deeply involved in politics. Of course hate made a huge pushback and to this day there are no more self sufficient black towns and minorities are grossly underrepresented in the political arena. Tragedies like Rosewood or The Black Wall Street massacre were Prime examples of what was done too eliminate the push toward true equality. But Ida & Roger are like the fictional copy of the Lovings who fought for their right to love and marry as they saw fit. It's a wonderful story full of courage and hope...a very sweet informative trip back through History. Don't sleep on this lil series folks!💞
I love historical Western romances and have read hundreds of books in the genre. The one thing that could make me DNF, a historical romance is historical accuracy. Having said that this book had lots of it but because I like Terry Grace, I continue to read it but the more I’ve read the more I thought this can’t be the same Terry Grace from the rain, brothers, ranch series, and despite Goodreads and Amazon claiming it is, I don’t believe it. these people are supposed to live in a small town called wellness Creek in Texas that are just getting back on their feet yet. The senator lives there and has a cleaning service clean his home and in another book in the series, a couple flag down a taxi to the hospital not to mention the stilted writing in the Insta love. It’s not that they meet and they’re in love, but the story goes on until a few chapters later out of the blue and with no interaction to talk about, they announced there in Love with the other person. usually due to an illness, a kidnapping their past tracking them down, but regardless of the event, it always burns on the love for the other main character. I really can’t believe if there is a real Terry Grace that she would lead books like this be put out under her name because I am not lying when I say a high school studentor even myself could do a better job. I mean books written at this level just prove that not only does she know or not know rather her history she doesn’t even read books in that genre because no historical western fan would think some broke down town in Texas would have cleaning services, taxies, and hospitals. They may have a doctor in town but the other two things are laughable. I mean it was the 1800s not the 1950s.
I enjoyed this series of stories. The author has done a wonderful job of putting together a cast of characters that show the life that was often lived by women took part in the journey west to become brides.
Ida, a very good woman, and she is sought after to be the nanny of Senator Dinge. Amy is his precious daughter with his now deceased wife. He needs help with his daughter, but he himself would not mind finding love. He didn’t seek a black woman, but his heart did. He spares no expenses for his beloved.
Okay so I thought Lillybeth was my favorite nope sorry Ida story. I truly wish there was more to this story. And in wish they change the cover of the books. Only two of then are black. And Ida's cover shows a woman who looks older than being in her 30's.
I loved ❤ this book's storyline. Some parts of this story was sad 😥. I loved ❤ Ida's character. My heart broke 💔 for Ida. I loved ❤ Roger's character. I loved ❤ Amy. Elizabeth got what she deserved. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Grace.
