This is a beautiful love story between two people that are not a good match on paper but they somehow fit. I loved both characters very much.

Sierra comes from a rich and sophisticated family and Chase is the product of a husband cheating on his wife. He never knew a decent family life. His father was rarely there for him and his mother was a mess. That’s why he grew up without love or affection. He worked in dangerous jobs and he never got attached to any woman.

Sierra lost Jake, her boyfriend of two years, in a car accident and for a year and a half, she has been mourning for him, not being able to move on completely.

When Chase’s father dies, he comes to the town for his funeral and his half-brother offers him to stay and gives him a job in the bar he owns. As his brother’s wife is going to have twins soon, Chase agrees to help him in his bar.

Then, something happens… Something strange… And sad… The way Chase gets to know Sierra first is unusual.

Then, they actually meet in person.

Chase felt something for her when Sierra was “his mystery woman” with only a voice and he felt even more when he really met her.

And after so much time feeling nothing and being numb, Sierra starts to feel again with Chase.

And they start to have a relationship in which they heal each other’s wounds and they become “more” for each other than they ever expected.

“One Call Away” is the story of how Chase and Sierra become a couple, struggling their way through lots of hardships such as

The book has a HEA with a nice epilogue.

I never felt that Chase was the second best for Sierra because she said he was more! Although Sierra really loved Jake and he was a good man, Chase and her were definitely a better couple - she feels it and you feel it, too.

***********************************************

Safety:

He is not a man-whore, she is not a virgin.
There is no cheating.
There is only a short separation.
There is no OW/OM drama apart from her dead boyfriend. And for readers who are sensitive about this, let me tell you that he doesn’t get involved with any other woman after meeting the heroine.

***

As for safe sex, unfortunately, they don’t do it with protection :(

***********************************************

Writing:

The writing is good in that it makes you feel. It is written in dual point of view so you know how they both feel and what they think all the time.

There is only one negative thing I can say about the writing and it is the reason why I deducted 1 point: The book is 340 pages and it is SLOW, really slow. It could have been 50-100 pages shorter. However, it was not boring for me. I loved it. I never wanted to drop it or skip pages. I loved the couple, I was invested in their story and despite dragging a bit sometimes, I still loved the book.

So, all in all, although I am warning you that it is a SLOW and LONG book, I am still recommending it because it is a good story of finding love when you think there is no hope for the future. It made me feel. It has its sad moments, fun moments and hot moments. It has it all.

***********************************************

Here are some QUOTES from it.

I don’t feel anything, and the more I watch my friends enjoy life, the more panicked I feel that something is irreplaceably broken inside of me.

***

“Jake.” The voice is female, and she doesn’t say the name. She breathes it.

“A strange thing happened today. I saw an infomercial for cat shelves you put by your window. Someone stole my idea. I knew you’d get a kick out of it, and I wanted to tell you. I picked up the phone and everything. Then I remembered…I remembered that…you’re…that you’re dead.”

***

I’d give anything to have someone say my name with such longing, which is totally fucked up.

“Why did you move so much ?”
“I was trying to find a place that felt like home.”

***

“What the hell are you doing to me, Sierra?”
“Just the usual Black Magic love spells. It’ll only be a matter of days before your soul is mine and I can use your reanimated corpse to do my evil bidding.”
“As long as you keep f*cking me like that, I’m fine with it.”
I act like I consider his words. “I suppose I can work in a spell or two to preserve your body. It would be a shame to waste it.”

***

Sierra changes everything. She’s changing me without trying. Or maybe she’s not. Maybe she’s just exposing who I’ve been all along and fought hard to cover up.

***

“I need some time alone.”
“I’ll go downstairs and wait. I’ll be there, whenever you’re ready .”
“No. Leave. Please. If you love me like you say you do, then go.”
Tears fill my eyes. I’ve never cried in my adult life before. “I do love you.”
“Then go.”

***

I cannot stop crying.
I miss Chase.
I miss his arms around me.
I miss the way he made me laugh.
I miss how safe I felt with him snuggled up next to me at night.
I miss the way I trusted him.
I miss the lie he led me to believe.
I just miss him.

***

“Sierra, I’ve seen too many people live but not be alive. I thought I was living because I took risks and was surrounded by a certain level of daily danger. But I was wrong. I never felt alive until I met you.

And right now…right now I feel like I’m dead inside but my body refuses to die.”

***

We’ve been through a lot together in a short amount of time. I might never find a reason to explain why the bad things happened, or why the good ones continue to come. The loss is still painful for the both of us. The mistakes we’ve both made saliently sit just below the surface, reminding us that we’re both human.

Bad things happen. But good things do too. There are no reasons. No way to know why life unfolds the way it does.

After multiple depictions of farmers' wives as trophy wives who have never worked and live to throw fancy parties and enjoy augmenting themselves with plastic surgery, I think it's fairly obvious this author has never actually met a farmer's wife. Or possibly even been on a farm...

The author writes well, but this is pretty much a big cheese-fest with some hot sex thrown in. Chase is not really a bad boy, and as for Sierra, well, if you have to keep telling people you're a free spirit, you're probably not a free spirit.

Okay so, this book was weird. I didn't relate to either of the characters. I didn't support the gal for her attitude and I didn't understand the guy, so I should have hated it. But for some weird reason, I kept on turning the pages at high speed because I just *had* to know what was happening. And dear god, the feels. All the feels. These characters wrecked me, I wanted to reach out through the kindle and give them all the hugs.
Sierra's boyfriend of two years dies and she doesn't grieve - a year and a half later she's still depressed and angry, until Chase turns up. As I said, I don't relate to Sierra, I don't get her. I read a similar book a while back, To the moon and back, by Jill Mansell, and the woman was a little more understandable. But Sierra was still likeable and had a personality. Plus I really loved her with Chase.z
The main things that got my interest are Chase's mysterious past, and the fact that his used phone does give him access to Sierra's messages to her ex. I really couldn't wait to see where that was heading; I won't give spoilers, but you won't be disappointed!

Chase and Sierra are #couplegoals. Couples that read together are awesome! I love the fact that these two lovebirds are readers. These two were great for one another. I felt that they both needed each other and I liked how their stories fit together. I recommend this book if you are looking for a sweet and sexy contemporary romance.

One this I absolutely adore about Emily Goodwin is that her writing is always flawless. I may not always like certain characters but I can not deny that there is a flow and just the right amount have pace to her stories. One Call Away is no different! The intense and raw emotion gripped me from the first page, I could not put it down. Sierra knows what pain is, she knows what it is like to loose someone that you love. Chase is a nomad, never staying in one place for long, never getting attached. I adored the building of their relationship the simple act of just being with each other in silence and reading! I thought that was so cute. The mystery of chase killed me, I wanted to know everything about him but Emily kept us guessing. I really enjoyed reading this book it was deep, emotional and refreshing! The author did a fantastic job!

Sooner or later the sun always rise...

Even when you live in the dark, and you can find your way out, don't give up, cause there will always be a reason to try again. What really count is not why you fall down, but ur reason to get up, stronger than ever. And that reason for Sierra is called Chase. They has so many scars that must be cured. His are on his body, her are deeper on her heart. That why they click perfectly when they met. I'd like to think of Chase like an ex bad boy. That's how I saw him. He comes back for a different reason but will stay for another one. Sierra is from the first time he heard her voice his drug, his cure, his addiction. Maybe he did something he shouldn't, but it guide him to her in an unspoken way. After they met, well Chase becomes her protector, her lover, her friend, her soul mate. Attraction will draw her closer and closer, until she will let to her heart to love another man. And what a man!!!!!
Sierra will give him so much. Chase will feel incomplete without her, and his need to protect and love her will be his goal, his reason to always want to come back home. Because Sierra is Chase's home. But being broken, means he has to carefully manage her and her feelings. Sierra is like a beautiful present waiting to be unwrapped, but if he doesn't manage it with gloves it will slip away through his fingers. They will be the strength to each other, the reason to keep going on, to believe in love again,(for her) and learn to really care about someone for the first time ever ( for him). Their story is so emotional, and so captivating it will be impossible to stop reading. It will give u so so much and not just a real amazing second chance love story. You will understand that good and bad things happen for a reason and maybe the reason will not immediately be so obvious, but eventually someday you 'll figure it out.

One Call Away is a beautiful story about 2 people that don't quite fit the mold thats expected of them. It's about 2 people that find each other at a time they least expected it.

It's incredibly difficult to convey just how deeply this book made feel. Right from the first few pages it was clear that this was going to be a one sitting read. Sienna & Chase were both very relatable characters, it felt like we were right in the story with them. Emily Goodwin always writes these stories where I feel like I could be friends with her characters. It always makes for a really comforting read, even when she has me in floods of tears.

Emily Goodwin writes some of my favourite kinds of contemporary romance books.  With the current trend of enemies to lover books, it's refreshing to read about two people that actually like each other. People that may not say or do the right thing every time, but really want to get it right.

One Call Away Treads the line between emotional and sweet perfectly, it's flawlessly written and utterly captivating.

5 stars!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Out of many books I have read from Emily Goodwin, this one really made me UGLY cry! It was sad, it was hopeful, it was sexy, and sweet and just full of heart it was hard NOT to cry. This one, especially the way it started had my heart breaking. But after that heartbreak we get into how our very brave and beautiful heroine, Sierra copes from such a loss as the one she had. I cried with her, I watched as she started to fall in love again and get scared but wanting...no maybe NEEDING is a better word that love. And Chase...wow! He is the kind of hero and man most women DREAM about!

The characters are so full of heart and life and depth. The story yanks at your heartstrings and will have your feelings bouncing around ALL over the place. It will leave you in tears yet yearning for a fresh start and new beginning and definitely for a happily ever after. I am SO looking forward to what is next from Miss Goodwin!

One Call Away gets a HEARTFELT FIVE SHOOTING STARS! This will leave you breathless...GUARANTEED!

Five ‘book-gasm’ stars <3
When I opened this book I had no clue what I was walking into. Then, two pages in, when I was already tearing up over the raw emotions that Goodwin pulls right from the start I knew this would be a book I couldn’t put down until the end (I WAS RIGHT!!!). Goodwin broke my heart then pieced it back together very slowly and perfectly, leaving nothing out of their whirlwind romance. Her detailed writing style made me feel as if I were wrapped in the scene, right there next to the characters and in turn, made me completely fall head over heels for Sierra and Chase. When the Hero of a story is a hot, tattooed, book nerd…what can go wrong?!
Nothing. Period. Why have you not bought this book yet?.....

What a captivating page turner!

Both Sierra & Chase have been knocked down by life.
Sierra's boyfriend is snatched away during a fatal car accident. Chase is the physical evidence of his father's adultery and is loathed by his father's wife. Why? It's not Chase's fault.

Thank GOD his brother, Josh, doesn't see Chase like that and goes out of his way to welcome him into his life.
As fate would have it, Chase rescues Sierra from a dangerous situation, but small town gossip and judgment threatens to decimate their relationship before it can begin.

I absolutely loved this story!!!! My heart broke right on page 1. Sierra was such a strong woman to have endured what she had. The heartache that she carried with her is unimaginable.

The emotions that Sierra experienced, I was able to “feel” the same just from the written words. Bringing Chase into the mix and the background of how he is connected was just priceless.

I am so thankful I One clicked One Call Away, I highly recommend.

NO SPOILERS!

One Call Away was a beautiful, emotional, and memorable love story, and one of my favorite reads of the year! It was my first novel by Emily Goodwin, and it will most definitely not be the last. I completely fell head over heels in love with her writing style and the phenomenal storyline and characters she created. One Call Away was an incredible romance and I absolutely loved it!

Chase and Sierra were one of my favorite couples, and two of my favorite characters, that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. I completely fell in love with them and their story from the start, and I was truly captivated from beginning to end. I loved Chase and Sierra’s easygoing and extremely likable personalities, and I felt an immediate connection with both of them. The chemistry between them was undeniable and I loved how their relationship progressed. There were several up and down moments throughout, which is to be expected in every novel, but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle. I didn’t like a few of the secondary characters all that much, especially towards the end, but other than that I loved everything about this book. I loved reading it from both Chase and Sierra’s POV; it allowed me to have a deeper connection and bond with each character. Chase and Sierra completely stole my heart, and I honestly loved reading every single word of their story. Books and reading are my true passion, and I loved that both of them loved to read as much as I do. Chase Henson has seriously ruined all other men for me in real life, and I don’t think any of them will ever compare to him. Sierra Belmont was one of my favorite heroines. She was sweet and compassionate, yet strong and for the most part knew what she wanted in life. I truly loved this couple and their story with all of my heart, and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic with the conclusion. It made my heart extremely happy and I couldn’t stop smiling.

One Call Away was sweet, sexy, and utterly addicting, and one of my TOP FAVORITE romances of the year. Emily Goodwin completely blew me away with her talent in writing One Call Away, and I couldn’t have loved it more if I tried. She did an extraordinary job with this book, and truly made me happy with the resolution to Chase and Sierra’s story. I have fallen in love with Ms. Goodwin’s writing style and I am very much looking forward to reading more of her amazing books. One Call Away was an exceptional and unforgettable love story, and one you definitely don’t want to miss out on!

It took me a few days to process this completely captivating book! I found myself totally spellbound to the characters and the story had me hooked from beginning to end!

Emily puts her heart and soul into this story! Reading this book I felt we as readers got so many pieces of Emily herself.. it’s a true testament to an author putting her entire self into a story and Emily does just that!

One Call Away is a rare kind of book! It’s filled with emotion and heart! I became obsessed with Chase and Sierra and wanting them to find happiness... they both deserve happiness!

I can’t say enough how much I love this book! It’s one of my favorite reads this year! Truly and utterly heartbreaking but filled with a second chance at love and a life worthy of happiness!

I highly recommend this book!!!!

I’m addicted to Emily Goodwin’s words and One Call Away had me on a reading high. It was tender, steamy and full of raw emotion. The characters were flawed and real, and their story held my attention and had a choke-hold on my heart.

Sierra is no stranger to tragedy. She had found someone that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, whom she loved so deeply, and he was taken away from her before their HEA even had a chance to begin. For a long time after, she felt empty and alone. Like she was sinking, being dragged into the deep dark depths of the water, and sometimes she wasn’t so sure she wanted to break free and reach for the surface. Then one day she meets Chase, and slowly things begin to change.

Chase never stays in one place too long; no place ever feels like home. He’s never felt the desire to put down roots anywhere- until he meets Sierra. He’s intrigued by her, drawn to her, and he can’t help wanting to get to know her.

I loved the build of the relationship between Chase and Sierra. He never pushed her for more than she was comfortable offering and he was always so attentive and sweet. I adored their quiet moments just getting to know each other just as much as I liked their sweaty and steamy moments…which were just that, sweaty, steamy and hot! But I must say that one of my favourite things about them was their shared love of reading and books! When they cuddled up together reading, or just talked books, I thought it was so cute!

As they spent more time together, they got to know each other more, learning things about their past and present. But there are a few things about Chase that remained on the down low and it brought a bit of mystery to his character. But how long can he keep those secrets before he must tell Sierra, or she finds out from someone else? And once she knows the truth about everything, what will it mean for them?

This has got to be Goodwin’s best book to date! One Call Away is a story of losing love and finding it again, about being lost and finding home. It’s a captivating read and one that has made it into my list of 2017 favourites. If you’re on the lookout for an engaging second-chance romance with all the feels and heat, you’ve found it in One Call Away.

WOW One call away was just WOW the story line really drew me and with such a heartbreaking prologue that already had my emotions all over the place . Loved the book references they had me falling even more in love with the characters especially one that talked about Game of thrones and Harry potter I hope to see more of him . So knew I was going to like this Emily Goodwin really knows how to write an amazing story and this has got to my favorite . Chase and Sierra are so adorkable together the way they treat , respect , have hilarious banter , love for books and overall be silly with one another . The sex scenes are well written and super steamy yet tasteful at the same time and it wasn't rushed it showed how much respect they have for each others feelings . Chase just wow the mystery of what he used to do surprised me , the way he was patient with the heroine , dirty talker with an anaconda in his pants , and you got to love a man that loves to read . Sierra is dealing with such a strong loss and when the hero enters the picture she starts to become herself again , she's funny , loves Disney while having a soft spot for the villains in them , quirky with the way she dresses , and doesn't judge a person by their appearance . I liked some secondary characters , others I wasn't so fond of , and hope to see some more appearances of certain ones. This is one book you don't want to miss out on one click right away .

Debbie's Review

WOW!!!! This book was so beautifully written and was so full of raw emotions I finished this book hours ago and still am thinking about these characters. This is a book that I will not forget and characters I am sure I will still be thinking about days and maybe weeks later.

This book will literally hook you from page one and you will find yourself many times holding your breath waiting for the other shoe to fall. You will fall in love with these characters. The characters were full of flaws and that just made them seem so real. I was able to connect with them and dear lord, those voicemails that Sierra left Jake had me sobbing.

I don’t want to get into plot and spoil all the twists and turns the author has waiting for you. I went into this book blind and didn’t read the synopsis just knew that if Emily Goodwin wrote it that it was going to be good and man she didn’t disappoint with this one.

The chemistry and relationship between Sierra and Chase felt real. I loved the back and forth banter and they really just got each other. Nothing about their relationship felt forced or unrealistic. My heart broke for both of them and at thee same time I was their biggest cheerleader!

“I don’t know what I find more curious: the creativity of your lies or the ease of which you tell them.” He smiles, finishes chewing, and says. “Either way, that’s a compliment.”

This book was emotional, sexy and sweet and had me hooked from cover to cover. The plot wasn’t cookie cutter and was fresh and exciting and just what I needed. There isn’t one thing about this book I would want to see written differently. I am looking forward to more from this author. I love her writing style. It is flawless.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

I think I have associated this author with books that make you feel like you want to cry your eyes out. This book made me so freaking sad and I felt so much pain from Sierra. She thought that her life was finally sorted, finding the one to spend the rest of her life with and then tragedy struck. And that is just the beginning of the story.

Chase never stays in one place, cause it never feels like home. Now he's brother offered him a place to stay and a job for a while and that's where he meets Sierra. From the minute they met he is intrigued by her and drawn to her and all he wants to do is get to know her.
So that's what he did, he spent time with her getting to know her and never pushing her to more than what she could give.

But still there are some mystery around Chase, and some secrets and when will he share his secrets with Sierra before it comes out some other way.

Like I said, so many feelings and emotions and heartache but also some good parts that will make you feel giddy. Totally pure Romance at its best
