This is the first anthology to tie in to the current bestselling War of Souls trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It contains 11 stories, written by well-known Dragonlance authors, that elaborate on the characters and locations from Weis and Hickman's current trilogy. The stories link to the ongoing saga through the time frames of the main characters.

Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author of dozens of novels and short stories. At TSR, Inc., she teamed with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. She is founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, licensing several popular television and movie franchises to make RPG series in addition to their own.
In 1999, Pyramid magazine named Weis one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, saying she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre". In 2002, she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in part for Dragonlance.

My rating is 2.5 stars.

This is a collection of short stories taking place in the Dragonlance realm. Magic is diminishing and everyone is looking for anything that will help magic users to retain the magic. This collection has everything from knights to draconians.

Most of this collection was mediocre. Most of the authors did capture the time era but their stories and characters are not memorable. I think the layout of the stories was the problem with this novel. There were three stories with gnomes back to back to back and by the third story I had my fill of this type of character. The only two stories that really held my interest were by Jean Rabe and Richard Knaak and those stories were towards the end. By the time I reached these stories my interest in this collection was not high.

There are better anthologies set in this world and this one was missing the one spectacular story that one usually finds in each anthology. The only way I can recommend reading this collection if your attempting to read every book that takes place in this world.

Childhood classic. For some reason these short stories stuck in my head more than some of the main story lines.
