Alexandra Moody is an Australian author who writes romance novels for young adults. She lives in Adelaide with her husband, three children and naughty dog. When she’s not busy writing, you’ll find her reading or spending time with her family. She loves to travel, is addicted to caffeine and has a love/hate relationship with the gym.
For fans of the series this is an enjoyable conclusion to the series. Things wrap up nicely... However, for me the suspense and urgency were just not there with this read, like in the previous novels.
I enjoyed the time with our characters and especially with our hero and heroine. But, I felt a let down in that regard too; while I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom into acknowledged mutual interest, from there part of their relationship progressed too rapidly. I am not sure but I believe this is a YA novel, and while the book remained clean and nothing other than kisses were spelled out, there was a fade to black scene. It was confirmed following that through conversation that they taken that step. Any way, just my food for thought.
It might have been the fact that I finished this book at midnight or that I am just really emotional, but I was crying from happiness and sadness at the end of this book. (I think it was mostly cause I finished the book at midnight)
This book was just so beautiful at the end. The beginning was a little slow for me because of all the worrying and drama going on between Sloane and Rhyn. At this point in the series I was getting tired of all of the crap going on between Sloane and Rhyn. You are made for each other stop doubting it for Lord's sake! I was very happy when the author kept the scene with Sloane and Rhyn alone in the cabin clean.
I had thought that Sloane was somehow related to the Urifaih(I don't think I spelled that right smh) from the middle of the series of so, but all that crap with her father and everything was an oh fudge moment for me. I was kind of sad that Sloane 's father didn't get to suffer more for what he did. He was a complete arsehole.
Just a couple thoughts on the ending real quick: First of all, I was crying when Ash died. I hated him, but he definitely redeemed himself by the end of the book. Second of all, I was so sad when Rowe and Jack left through the portal, but was really happy when they came back for a little while. I loved the ending to this wonderful series!
Thank you to the author for this amazing series! (Also, sorry for any errors that I might not have caught in this review. I ended up writing this at about 12:30am)

Another great series by AM. I actually wasn't going to read this one bc the premise didn't appeal to me but I'm so glad I did. This last chapter wraps everything up in a bow. It also leaves several options for Short stories or novellas. Hint hint!! For example: where do the other rifts go? Why are there no children? Why don't they eat? I got lots more ideas but I'm sure AM is on top of it.
I cried the entire last 10% of the book. It was going to give 4 stars bc I RARELY give 5 stars but I was so annoyed with myself for crying the last 10% I HAD to give it 5 stars.
Definitely looking forward to the next series by this very talented author. I actually may go back and reread this one. I only do that with books I absolutely love.
Better than the second and third, but still jot as good as the first.
The fourth installment falls under a few predictable tropes that leave the reader feeling a little less than fully satisfied. However, the story telling is just good enough to keep the reader invested.
There is a major drawback that kept me wondering. After damage to the communications device on the planet, why couldn't they use the communications devices in the ships? If they could leave the planet, why can't they use these devices? It makes little sense.
There were a few less grammar problems this time around, so that is a positive.
For my clean readers: mild language, violence, romance that is mostly clean, but there is one scene that more than implies what happens in the bedroom.
It was FREAKING amazing!!! Tho I can’t help but feel like the characters and some of the plot line gave me Sarah J. Mass’s A court of thorns and roses series vibes. Tho that could just be my deranged mind speaking.
*sigh* just as I was starting to lose hope on ever finding another dystopian story pleasurable- I come across this series. And it has DEFINITELY swept me away through a multitude of stormy emotion....
Iv been haunted by this particular series of books for like forever. I read the first one on a pirated books website cuz I didn’t, whatever, anyways I got caught up in school and forgot about it and months later I would just remember it. I even remembered the characters names but I never remembered the books name. So when I finally found this I fucking loved it. The series was just as good as I remembered. !
As I started this series, I was hesitant to believe it would be as good as The Arc series. But, these books have turned out far superior in almost every way. The story of Sloane and her transformation and journey of discovery are ultimately tear-jerking. The tears are tears of joy and sadness all at the same time. I can only hope that Rhyn and Sloane share many more adventures in future books in a companion series.
3.5 stars A solid conclusion to a super fun series.
It felt a bit slower and less eventful than the previous books until the final battle. I wasn't a fan of how separate all of the characters felt especially Rhyn and Sloane. I missed their banter and tension this time. Rowe's growth was one of the best parts for me.
There were quite a few surprises in this book! I was also frustrated with Sloane at first for not closing the rifts in a different order, but it turned out better in the end. :-D
It would be great if there was another story in this universe in the future. For example, can the original cataclysm be fixed? Inquiring minds want to know! Lol
This series kept me hooked. If it wasn't for my life outside of books, I would have finished the whole thing in less than 3 days. This last book got me a little weepy though. I am a little heartbroken that I don't get to read more about what happens with Ryhn and Sloane. I might just go drown my sorrows and not read another book for the rest of the night. 😉
This series was a great and exciting story from start to finish. The story stayed on course with a great dose of Exciting action, mystery, fear and dangerous adventures from start to finish.
The Rift War closes this four-book series in a way that I have to applaud Alexandra Moody. I’m very glad I found her. I’m very glad her description of these worlds aren’t over-the-top and managed to keep it real throughout four books. That’s a feat! And for the first time ever, I really spilled the tea.
Previously I hated some characters with a vengeance and this time around, I hated some so much more, others left me numbed, surprised, and the lack of “reunion” (of course there was a war going on, but even after, really made me a tad angry). Aren’t we going to address the elephant in the room? So much stuff happened (spoilers ahead): The Epilogue did surprise me with Rowe’s fate.. And now I don’t remember much, but the epilogue is a year after the Rift War... and chapter 31 was so damn painful I had to stop for a few days in order to read half a page.
I loved this book! Was a great series and story that both had a wonderful plot. The characters made you fall in love with them!! Overall rate everything 5 stars.
