From New York Times bestselling author Elle Casey comes the first book in the sexy Red-Hot Love Series. Fiery, free-loving Amber Fields has just discovered she’s the daughter of a 90s rock legend. The bright lights of New York City are a world away from her quiet life in Maine, but Amber is determined to get answers—and give her absent father a piece of her mind. When she tracks down her father’s band in Manhattan, answers seem hard to come by, and what she does find doesn’t add up with the stories she was told as a child. And then there’s the band’s replacement lead guitarist Ty Stanz. He’s sexy and intriguing for sure, but Amber is not falling for a brooding, prickly rocker. He seems to know exactly the right buttons to press to provoke her. Amber is no fan girl, and Ty sees her as an unwelcome distraction. On the surface they are worlds apart. Each is tied to the band for very different reasons, but the more time they spend together the hotter things get. Is their red-hot love meant to last?

Amber is book one in the brand new series, Red Hot Love, by Elle Casey. I love diving in to a new series by an author I adore. This one has a completely different feeling than her other books. It completely sets it apart. At first, I was a bit surprised. But the further I got into the book, the more I forgot about what I went in expecting and just enjoyed the story.

pretty woman

Amber Fields is twenty four years old and lives in central Maine on a communal farm called Glenhollow Farms. Amber was raised on the farm along with Emerald Collins and Rose Lancaster, all the same age. All three girls had different mothers who also lived on the farm. All the girls called all the women their “Mothers.” Some called the farm a “hippie commune.” Does wearing natural fibers, growing your own food and selling it at a farm stand, harvesting your own honey, make them hippies? Maybe in a sense. But all three girls were intelligent, loving women. They knew nothing of their fathers. Until the day a fancy lawyer showed up on their doorstep with his shiny shoes and equally shiny car, and a briefcase full of papers, offers from fathers they didn’t even know existed.

When the truth comes out, the girls realize their mothers haven’t told them the truth. Their fathers are members of a legendary 90’s rock band. But where have they been all their lives? Why didn’t they try to contact them before? When it becomes apparent that one of them will have to go to New York if they want any answers, Amber volunteers. She’s the most outgoing of the three. Just a quick flight in, tell the men just what they think of them showing up after all this time. Then right back home she will go. Only things didn’t exactly work out that way.

Imagine

Tyler (Ty) Stanz is the only young member of the group, a replacement lead guitarist. Ty and Amber are off to a rocky start but there are sparks there, definite chemistry. And Ty is your textbook tortured, hot as heck, smoldering, moody, talented, did I say hot, rock star. Amber is a fixer. She has a gift for helping people find solutions. And she sees Ty as a challenge. To help him fix whatever is troubling him. Not to mention, she wouldn’t mind being able to spend a little more time with him.

holding hands

When the band makes Amber an offer to stay for two weeks in New York to help them out, she sees it as an opportunity to get the answers she and her sisters crave about their fathers. And an opportunity to get to know Ty. It’s also a chance to see if she made a mistake staying on the farm after college. That maybe she is missing what the city has to offer. But this lifestyle is nothing like she could imagine, the paparazzi, the invasion of privacy, life in the spotlight. The sacrifice these men make to be able to play their music. Could she ever really get used to that?

paparazzi

“I don’t know where we’re going. But I’m looking forward to getting there. Something is happening between us, and it doesn’t feel all bad for a change.”

I did enjoy this book. What bothered me some is Amber’s naivety. She was homeschooled so had limited exposure to the world but she had been to college although it was never said where. But she did have some idea of how people outside her circle were. What I loved about Amber, though, was her ability to break through the iciest of exteriors. For instance her stoic driver. Her mission was to make him smile. To get him to engage with her and watching her at work was so adorable. Her demeanor was so cute and I laughed out loud more than once.

sweet kiss

It really was fun watching Amber take New York by storm. Will I be continuing the series? Definitely, yes. Emerald’s story is next and I can’t wait to read it. One thing, though, is for some reason I have a huge interest in this lawyer, Mr. Lister. He is so buttoned up. I can’t remember if he is married or not. But I find myself wanting to know more about him. To get his story. So maybe I’ll get more of him in the coming books.

“Buckle your seat belts, boys. Hurricane Amber is about to make landfall.”

4.5 Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Stars
* * * *1/2 Spoiler Free It's Live!!!
OMGoodness... This was a really wonderful read...and as my title suggested, our main character Amber... has serious touches of "Kimmy Schmidt". For those who may not know what this reference means... It is a show on Netflix about a woman who was isolated from the modern world and then is thrust out there and having to adapt and adjust to Everything...

Now that is not exactly what this is about...However, our main character Amber is one of 3 women who were raised off the grid by their mother on a farm in Maine. They had 3 moms...3 girls. Each girl born to each of the moms and so a family, sisters were made...These three had no dads...and the moms gave them enough love to raise strong smart women.

Now they are in their early 20's and run a Honey Farm. One sister is a Veterinarian of sort... a natural talent with no degree who takes care of strays and the community animals. The other is an artist but lately hasn't been painting like she usually does and then there is Amber.

Amber was always the most outspoken and headstrong of the sisters. She went to the local college, got a business degree and took a moment to see if she was meant to go out into the world and leave the farm and Honey business.

Amber thought and thought on it... but decided her place was with her sisters and moms; she was needed to run the bees and business end of the farm... as there wasn't really anyone else to do it. The girls would go to the farmers markets selling the honey and each of them were content...

The mothers were women who loved their daughters and did what was best for them...

Then one day a man with a briefcase shows up at the door insisting to talk with the daughters. At first, Amber the mouthpiece for the girls, slams the door in his face. Finally after much back and forth, Amber opens the door and he comes in. The lawyer delivers information which catches the girls by surprise. Stunned...

This is the set up and I could give you a bit more without spoiling this...but I will refrain as there isn't even a blurb up yet.

What I will tell you is this was thoroughly entertaining and worth the read. Elle Casey has taken an idea that was so smart and well done I wondered if there were any other stories out there that approached this subject. The humor and heart was front and center... and the connections between the sisters, moms, others and love match worked.

What I can say is this story made me think about the times it described and women who experienced them...the decisions made and how it impacted all of them.

Elle Casey has a great series on her hands as there are two other sisters so I am looking to their stories too. Don't let this vague review turn you off. This will have you face palming and giggling all at the same time.

I loved Elle Casey's  "Shine not Burn" series, so I figured I would give this new series a try, and hope it would be just as great.

Even though I enjoyed reading this one, it was very different from her other series.

This book is about a group of women of around the same age (24/25), being raised by their (different) mothers, on a communal honey farm. They are very selfsufficient, and therefore also very sheltered.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor hippie commune

Non of the women know who their fathers are.... that is until a lawyer shows up one day, with papers from their actual daddies.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor who's your daddy

Turns out their fathers are members of a pretty famous rock band. Question is...how come no one told them...not their moms and not their dads....

Amber is the one who offers to go to New York and get some answers. The plan is to come back home asap....but she didn't count on Tyler...

Gerelateerde afbeelding

Ty is the newest and youngest member of the rockband. He has some issues though and Amber being the fixer upper that she is....decides to butt in. The band offers her a longer stay, which will give her time to help Ty and get the answers she needs for her sisters.

I liked this book, but it wasn't a favorite. I myself am not really a big fan of naieve and sheltered women, even though the whole commune deal really intrigued me.

I will definitely check out the other books in this series ;)

To those who know me, I picked up this book for obvious reasons. I am a rocker chick and have a weakness for the rock n roll lifestyle! Not only was this rock n roll themed, it had unconventional families and the main character grew up on a hippie compound with three mothers.

So pretty much, this was the perfect read for me! I knew I would love this book based on the synopsis but what I didn't know is that it would quickly climb to one of my top favorite romance novels ever! I was instantly captivated by the characters and their charm. I loved Amber and her free loving spirit! I could relate to her on so many levels and she had a heart of gold underneath her hurricane exterior. Ty's mysterious personality and his past that went along with it made me fall in love with him. #fictionhusband. I LOVED how DNA didn't make a difference on who was family and not in this sweet story. I also loved that the supporting characters LOVED each other with no restrictions or jealousy.

There was not one bit of jealousy or grudges really in this novel and for me it really signified true love. It's rare to come across a novel that suites my beliefs and is so non judgemental. I know, I know, I am a hippie with all the free love stuff but this novel was completely swoon worthy for me and made me feel right at home.

The plot was way more than a romance and what it might seem at first glance. When I went into reading this novel, I thought romance would be the sole focus but man was I wrong. This book depicts how hard it can be to just live and be yourself with the weight of responsibility and struggles weighing down on your shoulders. When reading this novel, I was touched by reading about how Amber went into a different culture and how she really made a difference. She lacked greed, resentment and even though she was tough, she had a heart of gold. This story was filled with romance, drama, family issues and lack of judgement of anyone's life choices. If you are looking for something different or enjoy the love of a rock star I recommend you read this book. This is my first Elle Casey book but I can say without a doubt that "Ms. Casey, I'd follow you anywhere!" This book has Dani's stamp approval!

Amber (Red Hot Love #1) by Elle Casey

This is different than the usual Elle Casey books. It was an excellent story, and written with her usual humour and in your face honesty, which in itself is hilarious. But in this book, the story line is different. Its more real than its ever been before, therefore more tugging on heartstrings. I loved the main Character. Shes pure hippy, but so strong and sassy, she cant help but win everyone over, and her bravery in going to a new place by herself, which even for me reading from a million miles away, found daunting, and wanting to cower in a corner because I didnt like the crowds, the smells and strangeness of the place. Thats how well its written. From the first page, you are transported to Maine, then New York, like you are physically there. And the male hero in the story, is also someone that all of us want to meet. Dark and tortured, but honourable and honest, and sexy as hell.
So well done for another great book, and I cannot wait for the other 2!!!

3.5 stars

Amber grew up on a commune in Maine, along with her two sisters, each of the girls have their own birth mum but have been collectively raised by all of their three mothers. They live a quiet life, they were home schooled, grew their own vegetables and make little use of modern day technology.

All three sisters are now in their early 20’s and have just found out who their father’s are, well kind of. A proposal has been offered to them by a lawyer and it has left them all feeling slightly infuriated and insulted. To be fair, it has also invoked a feeling of shock a bit of disappointment towards their mothers. How could they have kept this information from them for all their lives?

There is only one way to sort this, Amber decides to take matters into her own hands, flying to New York to meet with these world renowned rock star men who fathered them all. She plans to tell them exactly what she thinks of their lack of communication and interest in their daughter’s lives.

Amber definitely stands out in the big city with her unique ‘hippy commune chick’ look she has going on but she plans to embrace the experience with an open mind. However, one thing she hadn’t anticipated was meeting Ty Stanz, the most recent addition to the band. This extremely hot guy who seems to pop up all over the place, in fact it feels like he is her personal stalker.

Ty is actually a really nice guy and quite endearing. Amber may be feeling a bit vulnerable and out of her depth at times but Ty is quite protective of her, making sure she is doing okay. He was completely in the dark about her situation, the band often keep things to themselves, treating him like a temporary member. There is a bit of bad feeling among the band around the dynamics, they really need to sort things out and be more inclusive with Ty.

When Amber finally meets the men who fathered her and her sisters she doesn’t waste any time telling them not only what she thinks about them as ‘fathers’ but also about the way they treat Ty. Amber’s pragmatic approach to issues leads to a proposition from the band, one that could open doors for her future and help them move forward in a more ‘current’ way.

The friendship between her and Ty grows in something more. The connection that they have is unlike anything Amber has experienced before. Ty loves that she is just a naturally beautiful girl, he is over girls with botoxed lips & boob jobs. This is the most real thing he has ever had and he does not want Amber to walk away from him to go back to her commune life. However, the rock star lifestyle comes with pitfalls, like the soul sucking paparazzi. Maybe Amber is really in over her head?

This was completely far fetched fiction and sometimes I really need to read something like this, a story not full of angst or drama but with enough storyline to keep me turning the pages.

To be honest this book was not for me. I had high hopes as I loved Shine not burn once, but this story grated my nerves.

First, I thoughy it totally unbelievable that 3 women (groupies of a rock band who were shared by the members) would all get pregnant around the same time! They decided to leave the band and raise their daughters very sheltered. Until one day someone turns up with papers from the band and they have to tell their (grown) daughters the truth. One of the girls, Amber, travels to New York to confront the band.

The hero of the book is not my kind of book boyfriend (ahum, the eyeliner...) and even though there are some funny interactions they are - again - not believable.

Elle Casey can write, but I don't like the story in this one . This is ofcourse just my opinion and taste differs.

I requested and received an ARC via Netgalley and this is my honest review.

As much as I love music, I don’t read a lot of rocker romances but I loved the thought of a hippie girl finding out she’s the daughter of a Rock God and tracking him down. Unfortunately, the scenario I had built up in my head never panned out. This was a book about regret – namely making major life decisions that affect others without consulting them first and the long-lasting repercussions that can happen because of them.

From her free-loving description, I had Amber built up in my head completely different than the sheltered girl who lived in a commune she turned out to be. Amber was the type of character who spends her life making sure everyone else she cares for is taken care of. She’s an organizer and a problem solver, but she’s so busy taking care of everyone else, she’s neglected her own issues.

As for Ty, from his description, I had a complete alpha-hole pictured in my head. I could not have been more off base. In fact, Ty is the antithesis of an alpha male. He was extremely emotional and very unsure of himself. Geez, the guy even wore eyeliner even when he wasn’t on stage or at an appearance. Ty was nice enough but he was not my cup of tea.

Other than Ty not being a hero I could connect with, my other problem with the story was the sheer number of unlikely things happening in order for this plot to work. For instance, three groupies got pregnant, by accident, all at exactly the same time. Or the manager of the band conveniently being gone for a month right when the girls were finding out about their rock band dads. Or a hippie girl who was raised in a commune who doesn’t even know what Snapchat is, yet spends a couple hours with an aging rock band and knows exactly what they need to do to update their look and personas.

Amber ended up being a nice story with a sweet lesson to impart. If this had had an alpha hero I could get behind I believe I would have enjoyed the story despite the hard to swallow coincidences. Alas, emotional basket cases just don’t light my fire.

Rating: 2.5 I Need An Alpha Hero Stars

This one couldn't stick for me. It felt like the cliches were too cliche and the tropes were too tropey.

Girl raised on a hippie commune finds out she has a rockstar dad and goes to the big city (all doe-eyed & innocent) to meet him and falls for the broody bad boy in the group. I realize it says all this in the blurb, but I didn't think it'd be so in your face.

This author is usually pretty fun and quirky (and fairly PG) making her stories endearing in an offbeat sort of way. I appreciate her trying something new, just wasn't for me. Happy reading!

I don't know about you but when I pick light and fluffy read I expect that. I don't need too much but at least give me that. Highly underwhelming. Okay, I don't mind unlikeable characters there is something real about them and it gives the author great room form development but these two only got more annoying as the story went on.

I don't care about book two but I am curious about Rose's story that is book three. Can my brain let me skip a book? I guess I should wait and see.

I might have asked for this book because we share the same name ☺. At least that's what first grabbed me. Then I read the blurb and I like a good rockstar romance so I was game for this. Well at least as long as the rock star in question is deep and feeling and over the groupie lifestyle. I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"Elle Casey delivers this beautiful, evocative story of Amber's with a touch of complications and a spicy romance into her life, with the most realistic way. Enjoy!"

"I received a complimentary copy of this book and have volunteered to leave a review."

Amber is the first book I read from Elle Casey. I saw the cover of the book on NetGalley which I liked, read the synopsis which intrigued me and took the chance asking for them to read it. Honestly, it was a nice experience!

Amber is our heroine's name and she is the narrator of her own story. Almost twenty-five-year-old and she still lives with her mothers and sisters. Amber's unconventional family blown my mind at the beginning. However as the story unfolds it became more clear that nothing is always as it seems.

Amber's mothers create a home, a communal farm, as she called it and Amber's help there is valuable. Choosing to live there instead of having a life and a career in the big city is a clear decision for her. She is in peace and feels happy being around the people she loves and cares about. However, their peace has been disturbed after the revealation of a big secret. Amber's, Rose's and Emerald's fathers are really exist!

Not taking the storyline far from where I want it to be I will only say that Amber is the one who suggested going and confront the men who until then were elsewhere but with their daughters. Amber travels to New York and even from the airport it is clear that the trip she end up taking is going to be the journey of her lifetime.

I have to admit that Amber is a long book not the quick ones I so far have used to read. The author makes it obvious that she loves showing the details of each moment or thought, which is enlightening and frustrating at the same time. For my taste I would like things be brief, yet I think that younger aged readers will like the analysis of each situations more. Viewing and understanding clearly any thought, actions or emotions our heroine has throughout the story.

Author's narrative is well versed and atmospheric. The portrayal of Amber's couldn't be more clear as it is right now. The same goes with how New York is framed through Amber's eyes and also, all the other characters in her story. It make it easy to visualize everything throughout the narrative and that means that the book has a life from its own. I like that.

I also, liked the plot. I very much liked it to be honest. This unconventional story of Amber's mothers and then the way her own life turned to be is something I still can't comprehend it. However, it was a nice experience, a beautiful journey with yet another happy ending. Can't wait to see what next to come from Elle Casey...

I hope I intrigue your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening to them in the end because there is no way to tell you myself.

Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

Book 1 in a brand new series following the ageing rockers from 90s band, Red Hot, along with the 3 women who used to travel the country with them in their early days, and their 3 daughters. Amber, like her 2 sisters was brought up by their 3 mothers on a communal farm in Maine, not knowing or caring who their fathers are. That is until one day a lawyer comes a knocking and blows their whole world inside out. Amber volunteers to go to the ‘big city’ and tell their fathers what they think of them, unfortunately things don’t quite go as planned and Amber ends up staying longer than intended as she embarks on a journey of self discovery. I loved the story, the writing was excellent, so many laugh out loud moments, and with Tyler Stanz as the love interest it was a win win for me. I loved it, and I am so looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Amber was raised in a hippie commune with her mothers and two sisters and has just learned she is the daughter of a member from the 80’s band, Red Hot. Besides Amber’s mom there were two others who were groupies of the band back in the day and the three young women followed the Red Hots for two years until all three learned that they were pregnant with babies from an unknown band member. It was peace, love, drugs and rock ‘n roll so not knowing who the exact father was not out of the ordinary. The women knew that they had to try to give their daughters a life out of the spotlight and the craziness of touring with a famous rock band. The best way to do this was to settle in Maine with no connections with their pasts.

Amber was the go-getter out of the three young daughters and was determined to go to New York to let the band members know that there was no way the girls were going to accept any money from them and maybe find out how they could wait all of these years to reach out to them or their mothers.

Ty was a new member of the band who seemed to be on the outside looking in even though he was able to play Red Hot’s music backwards and forward. The interaction between Ty and Amber was hilarious at times and at others heartbreaking. The band members themselves did have redeemable qualities that Amber was able to see, even if she was sure there would be none there. They made her a job offer she could not refuse and the ballsy Amber did not walk away from it. This was a strong female who had learned the value of being nice to people and working hard. I cannot wait to see what becomes of her sister Emerald in the next book in this series.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.

Rock star romances are one of my guilty pleasures. You know going in there will be more than a bit of unbelievableness in the story, it’s kind of built in. This story is a cute insta-love, mostly tame romance.

The premise of this story begins with 3 young women, raised together in one home on a farm in Maine with their 3 mothers, finding out that their fathers all belong to incredibly famous rock band in the 80s/early 90s (this part isn’t very clear, but can be surmised from the girls ages). I have a lot of small nitpicks regarding this story, but I think truly where my biggest issue lies is timeline induced. This entire novel, with the exception of the epilogue, takes place over the course of a week. Our MC, is the oldest of the 3 sisters, and her love interest is the newest member of the band, the replacement lead guitarist—-the only member her age. I think he was supposed to come off as kind of broken and brooding, but because of the rushed timeline of less than a week, for me it was more kind of immature and whining. Not sexy.

The book has its funny moments, it has some good character interactions but then there are so many others that leave you scratching your head. For instance, Amber is understandably reserved, nervous and uncharacteristically quiet during her first meeting with the band (her potential fathers), but the next day she storms into the recording studio all hands on her hip demanding they listen to her roar as Hurricane Amber is in the house. It was a whiplash moment and the fantastic potential for quiet, touching and emotional scenes are lost.

I think this novel had too many things going on...naive girl in the big city, long lost father(s), insta-love...all in the course of a week, that none of threads ever felt truly developed. Personally I think it probably would have been better served if it’d had focused more on the father/daughter aspect, while slow burning the romance so that it could be the focus in the next book.

Everything was a bit too saccharine and surface for me personally, but I also realize that’s a personal preference. If you’re looking for something quick, cute and fluffy with a HEA, this definitely fits the bill.

I received this novel from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review.

Fiery, free-loving Amber Fields has just discovered she’s the daughter of a 90s rock legend. Amber is determined to know more and heads to the bright lights of New York City, a world away from the hippie commune she’s grown up on in Maine.
She tracks down the band but answers seem hard to come by. And then there’s the new lead guitarist—troubled, sexy, intriguing Ty who is anything but welcoming.
Ty is not into commitment and Amber is not into the music yet, soon, sparks begin to fly. The more time they spend together, the hotter things get. They’re bound by music—could they also be bound by love?
Loved the way this book flows. Couldn't put it down. 5 stars.

Hippies and liars team up with stoner rockers to make our heroine. Free love and drugs equal, I don't know who your daddy is. She grew up in seclusion as a hippie and she is thrust into her father's world...whoever that may be.

This is Amber: Red Hot Love Series, book one, written by Elle Casey. Elle is starting a new series about an aging band named Red Hot and three women and grown children that are somehow attached to the band members. It’s super exciting and difficult to second guess. I could wait to reach the end and now I can’t wait for the next installment of their lives. Amber is creating a new brand for the band. It’s super easy to become enamored with the characters as they all try to embrace the changes being made to bring them forward into this century. And Ty? Well Ty is just some extra eye candy. :p. I received an advance readers and chose voluntarily to leave this review.

I liked this one a lot. It started really slow for me, but about 45% through I was really hooked and am looking forward to the next one in the series. So push through the beginning!

Original review: A Novel Glimpse

Note: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway and this is my unbiased opinion.

I’ve loved reading Elle Casey’s romance novels for years. I was excited to read her newest series, Red Hot Love. I was curious to find out what her take on a rock star romance would be. Unfortunately, Amber is the first book of hers that has given me problems.

It wasn’t that I didn’t like Amber. Elle Casey’s writing is always good. Her stories are fast paced and funny. The mystery surrounding Amber’s father kept me interested. My problem was mostly with the entire plot of this book.

The thing about Amber’s plot is that it was almost too unbelievable for me. Three groupies get knocked up around the same time by a band, and they sneak away to have/raise the babies. They create a hippy commune together where the kids call all three ladies mom and each other sister. None of the ladies know who the father of their baby is, and the fathers never know there are babies. The ladies keep the entire band thing a secret from the kids. It was just too crazy out there for me. I guess it wouldn’t have been if it wasn’t for the commune thing and Amber’s personality, but it was.

Amber… It’s hard to explain other than to say she completely annoyed me. Her personality was just abrasive. I found her dialog irritating. She was this tough, angry chick who didn’t care who she was talking to, but at the smallest problems would deflate. There was just something about her I didn’t like, and I don’t know if I’m putting it into words correctly.

Ty was easier to like than Amber. I could understand his position on everything. I didn’t quite get why he was into Amber, since she was so off-putting, but their relationship was sweet.

My favorite part of this book was the mystery with the fathers. That whole thing was really cool. I wanted more from it than I got at the end, but I liked how everything played out.

Overall, Amber was a good book that just wasn’t my cup of tea. I am interested in finding out where the rest of story goes, so I will be continuing on with the series. I’m hoping I like Amber’s sister, Emerald more.

I loved Amber, the woman was ballsy, "...when I realize how much it pushes my boobs up, I stop. Out of the corner of my eye I see him staring. “Keep your eyeballs in your head where they belong,” I warn." I just can't help but love Ty the man recognizeshis own faults, “because. When I’m acting like a ***k, you need to hold me to it. Don’t let me get away with it." Amber's sisters were entertaining all on their own and I hope that they too get a story of their own. I enjoyed the heck out of this book, and I'm really looking forward to more.

Una prima parte davvero frizzante, spiritosa e divertente ma poi c’è stato un calo notevole, il libro ha perso brio strada facendo! Peccato!

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- AMBER is the first instalment in Elle Casey’s contemporary, adult RED HOT LOVE rock, romance series focusing on three sisters-Amber Fields, Emerald Collins, and Rose Lancaster. This is rock star Ty Stanz, and twenty five year old Amber Fields’ story line.

Told from first person perspective (Amber) AMBER follows twenty four year old Amber Fields as she goes in search of the truth. For twenty –four years Amber and her two ‘sisters’, Emerald and Rose, have lived a quiet, hippie-like lifestyle with their mothers, mothers who sought the peace and solitude of a free existence, an existence far from the life they once grew to love. When a powerful attorney shows up offering the sisters a lump sum payment for sins of the past, Amber is about to get the experience of a lifetime when she heads to New York, and discovers the secrets about her mother’s life. Enter rock star Ty Stanz, and the man with whom Amber will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Amber and Ty, and the potential fall-out as all is revealed to the world to see.

Ty Stanz is the new lead guitarist for the 90s rock group Red Hot but as weeks lead to months where Ty does not feel like a member of the group relegated to errand boy and punching bag for Red Hot’s die-hard fans, our hero struggles with his place in the band. Meeting Amber Fields gave Ty a chance at his own happily ever after, a happily ever after that is threatened by secrets of the past, secrets that may destroy the woman he loves, and the band he hopes to call his own.

The relationship between Ty and Amber begins acrimoniously as Ty is unhappy as escort and chaperone for Amber Fields. Amber is a strong willed, independent young woman who is willing to go head to head with anyone discrediting her family or her life but secrets from the past are about to blow wide open the family she thought she knew. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble of colorful secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to the members of Red Hot: lead singer Red Wylde, drummer Mooch Gyllenhaal, rhythm guitar Cash Stagger, bassist Paul Goldman, former band member Darrell Ford, and their lawyer Greg Lister and his niece Linny Lister, as well as Amber’s mothers Barb Fields, Carol Collins and Sally Lancaster.

AMBER is a story of family, secrets, betrayal and lies. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are flirty, cautious, sassy and real. AMBER is a wonderful and compelling story line with a kind-hearted heroine is determined to protect the people she loves.

This was an interesting twist on a rock star romance. The story started out as quite original and I really enjoyed that here was a unique premise for a romance novel. The heroine, Amber Fields, is a self-described “hippy chick” who has been raised on a farm in remote Maine by three women and their daughters. At the beginning of the book they find out that the three women’s fathers were members of a rock band for which their mothers had been groupies for two years sleeping with various members so that when they all became pregnant no one knew who the fathers were. All of this, the mothers had kept secret from their daughters and from the fathers. And now they find out and Amber decides to travel to New York City and refuse their offer of money.

Amber has never been to a big city and she finds herself questioning whether she made the right decision to live life on their farm instead of exploring a business career after she graduated college. She makes contact with the band’s young lead guitar player who is, apparently, extremely hot and wears lots of eye make-up - not my thing, but maybe it’s hot in a Johnny Depp sort of way.

She’s not your usual heroine and Ty is not your usual hero. The three fathers aren’t what she expected and, as she learned more about what happened to convince her mothers (that’s how she refers to them) to spend a quarter-century on a farm in Maine, she realizes that there is more to the story than she first thought.

For about 90% of the book, I was really enjoying following Amber through New York and her getting to know Ty and the band. And then it all got resolved within a few pages with an epilogue tacked on. There were complications set up in the book and they all got brushed aside without much discussion at all.

SPOILER Alert - Amber goes from being this naive and innocent hippy chick to being able to a career making over a top rock band with no problem. She is able to have a relationship with the famous guitarist without any resolution of how she was dealing with the paparazzi. The problems that Ty had been having with the rest of the band and the fan base - problems that Amber diagnosed from one conversation in the bathroom - are all waved away without much description of what happened after Amber identified the problem. Their problems writing new new music all seemingly disappear. Ty’s problems with his family are ignored except for the hint that, perhaps, his younger brother will feature in an upcoming book in the series. The reunion between the three mothers and the three fathers is skipped over. It’s almost as if the author had this fun set-up and decided to leave the resolution to all the plot complications on the cutting-room floor. Maybe we’ll learn more in future books in the series about the two other sisters, but it would have been nice to have had some of that resolution in the book that first set out the conflicts.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
