Surrendering for Two

Rate this book

FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR MORTICIA KNIGHT

Book four in the Soul Match series!

Strength is found when surrendering to destiny.

Graham has suffered way too much at the hands of the Nall. Ever since he was enslaved after the invasion, he’s been raped and tortured by the Alasharian Supreme Commander and his cohorts. Condemned to die by hanging for his part in the human rebellion, Graham gives in to the inevitable, no longer caring if he lives or dies. But an unexpected event occurs and, at the last moment, Graham is saved.

Balor is a guard to the Nall, but he’s also a part of the growing rebellion among the Alasharians. When one of the Nall’s advisors enlists his help in getting a human prisoner to safety, Balor comes to his aid. Startled by the soul match hum that sparks to life when he touches Graham, but unable to do anything about it, Balor is determined to protect his human match at all costs. When Advisor Oman arrives on the scene to rescue Balor as he helps Graham to escape, it becomes clear that yet another alien/human triad is forming—even if Graham may never accept being bonded to two aliens after the trauma he’s endured at the hands of Alasharians.

The time has come to depart to the secret military complex where the human and Alasharian allies will stage their final assault against the Nall and the Void. Families are reunited and others torn apart as they prepare for battle. The allies fear what will become of them all if Chris, the special human Sha Sha Ar has chosen as their spiritual leader, is no longer there to guide them.

Reader This book contains scenes of battle violence, and mentions of rape and torture.

The crisis that has been brewing in the first three books of this increasingly fascinating series exploded onto the page at the end of book three, but the real fighting and all its implications don’t happen until this fourth volume. The situation is dire indeed for both humans and Alasharian’s. The majority of humans has been killed when the Alasharian’s took over Earth since they needed a new home when fleeing from the Void, and the few surviving humans are either on the run or enslaved. The Alasharian’s supreme commander, the Nall, has been taken over by the Void, an entity that is pure evil, and a few resisting Alasharians are planning a rebellion that is forced out into the open earlier than they planned due to the atrocities committed by the Nall.

Oman, Balor and Graham
An erotic read. Graham is freed by Balor....after they'd touched there was a hum, a sizzling feeling.
Oman has an eye on Balor (both Alasharians) and Balor was in love with him for ages... Oman did feel through Balor that there is a third mate in their circle...a human.

Graham was raped and abused by Alasharians so he is surprised when Balor saves him...

The three meet again, it's their destiny....they can't be apart anymore and Graham has a long way to go to trust Balor and Oman....but there is so much love...
Three men, two Masters... Graham is overwhelmed by their love....

Great written, an awesome Morticia Knight read... Sad that it ended abrupt.... I was so waiting for a very special moment.... just have to wait for the next book...

Not my favorite of the series. Didn’t like the MCs as much as I did in previous installments. I also didn’t buy into Graham recovering enough emotionally to be able to bond with his mates. But hey, I guess a Soul Bond overcomes everything. Also, I don’t feel like much was accomplished plot wise. Frankly, I probably could have skipped this installment and not missed much.

Takes for forever to read on my phone but I was not happy with this book. Graham has been raped & tortured by the Nall and still with very little effort when his 2 mates find him, he's ok with sex just not penetration. Sorry but I don't buy it, too easy.

Interesting

It was interesting to get Graham's story and to see a different side of the Alasharian dynamic with his mates.

A Joyfully Jay review.

This story is a work of fiction. Obviously, as there are giant aliens in it, but that’s beside the point. In this series, there is an alien species whose entire world is delineated into the dominant Ahna and the submissive Nasha. The Alasharians are either sadists or masochists. There are very, very few aliens who are versatile. The entire culture is based on a master and slave culture, which was brought with them to Earth. To them, humans are good for one thing, and that is to be a sex toy, a pet to be used to further the enjoyment of sex between two Alasharians. These humans are not asked if they consent, are not asked if they wish to be placed in bondage, whipped, flogged, spanked, or fucked. As the series goes on, the books, get darker in their content and richer in their world building.

Wow Graham’s story is crazy. He suffered so much manages to escape only to lose so much in the process, the fact that his story is so well laid out made me cheer for him. Definitely have to read the books in order to get the best out of the story. Time to read the last book.

I recieved a copy tonread and review for Wicked Reads.

I have to admit, I haven't rwad the previos books in this series. In fact I think I may have started one and not finished it. This genre isn't usually something I read. I made it through the whole book and I actually think I will go back and start from the beginning to see what I missed. I really enjoyed the dynamics between Graham, Balor and Oman. I will say though I was disappointed with how things ended and having to wait until the next book.

With every book Morticia Knight writes, in any of her series, they just keep getting better. Soul Match: Book Four is no exception. Even though I thought there was no way I would like the next book as much as I did book three, Hiding from Two, I was wrong.

This book once again shifts focus from Chris, Lasar, and Nary. In fact, they are not even in the book except in passing mention. This book brings in Graham, who was briefly mentioned at the end of book three, as he ran for his life and was found by Morgan, Rama, and Hallosh.

Graham has suffered more than Chris and Morgan. Rather than being captured, put in the slave cages, and then saved, Graham has seen it all and suffered abuse from the Alasharians. He wants them all dead. The thought of humans falling in love with the captors makes him sick. But when he is saved from a certain death by a female Alasharian and the guard Balor, he decides to take his chances and run. He doesn’t understand the soul match, and he finds the idea disgusting. But after meeting Oman and reuniting with Balor, he finds himself questioning what he’s thought. Oman is trying to save humans. Balor is desperate to make Graham happy, and shows distress whenever Graham is upset or injured.

But they have more important things to worry about at the moment than figuring out this new triad that is forming. They need to get to the secret location Chris has told them to meet at. But where is Chris? Where are his mates? What will happen if Chris disappears?

There were so many questions in this book that I am eager to read the next one. But what I loved most about this one was how slow Oman and Balor agree to take things with Graham. He is understandably distrustful of the Alasharians, and even though he feels something for these two, he doesn’t want to be put in the same cycle of abuse. As the three attempt to navigate their relationship, it becomes clear that this triad is not like the other two. While Chris and Morgan are both Nasha in the relationship, with two Alasharian Ahnas, Graham is not quite Nasha. Balor, on the other hand, is willingly ready to submit to both Oman and Graham. This was a change of pace for the book, and it makes me eager to see what will happen next in their relationship. To be honest, they are the triad I want to see the most of at the moment.

Fans of Morticia Knight will enjoy this new book; however, this series must be read in order as the events span across several novels. Though Graham is new and Chris is absent, his role is still important, and readers will be missing a large portion of the story if the first two books are not read first.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 4 in the Soul Match series, and you really MUST read the other books in the series to know what has driven these people to this point.

Graham has suffered the fate that Chris and Morgan were expecting. He was abused by the Nall, to such an extent, he is permanently scarred. Graham, his brother and his father were due to hang, at the Nall's gathering, for punishment for the attack at the Nall's party. And Alasharian saves him, and Graham's opinion on the race changes. Balor is a guard to the Nall, but also part of the rebellion. Oman is advisor to the Nall, but has been watching Balor for some time. He knows Balor is his Soul Match and when Balor mentions the human he helped save, Oman knows they will be a three. But time is of the essence, and humans and Alasharians must band together to any of them are to survive.

What I particularly liked about this one, was the CARE that Oman , and indeed Balor, took with Graham. They both knew he had suffered, badly. They can see his scars, and are enraged by the treatment of Graham by the Nall but they know Graham needs time. They may NEVER fully Soul Match, but Oman and Balor will take whatever Graham can give them.

Graham, while reluctant, knows that he can give as little, or as much, as he is able to, to Oman and Balor. I liked that he was in total control of the speed that things moved. LOVED that he was not the submissive in this match. Liked that he spoke to Morgan about the Soul Match, since Morgan was equally, if not more so, against the idea.

While Chris, Lasar and Nary take no part here, the rebellion is gaining ground as more and more humans and Alasharians arrive at the old air base they are camped out at. Problem is, no one knows where Chris, Lasar and Nary are, or even if Chris is a real person!

Book 5 is next, and it is the conclusion of this series. I'm not sure I really want to read it! Thoroughly enjoying these!

Balor is, hands down, my new favorite character in this series. I adore him and I just want to snuggle him.

This book is a ride from page one and doesn't let up at all. Ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book.

Bait and Switch

Allow me to preface this by saying ... WTF? And nooooo, I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. Although ... well, not entirely in a bad way. Let me see if I can explain.

I like the space-opera-ish-ness of these even though they take place on Earth. Let's face it, they are way, way, way OTT in many respects. Again, not necessarily a bad thing because at least these are consistently OTT in very specific ways that span the entire series and don't try to 'one up' themselves by getting progressively more and more Days of our Lives if you know what I mean.

So why the WTF? Well ... that would be because, after book 3, I somehow had it in my head that things would be wrapping up in book 4. Hmm. Yeah, not so much. Imagine my surprise when another cousin-neighbor-acquaintance comes out of the woodwork and ends up with his very own alien boy toys. Yum, right? But still. I thought we were done!

Am I upset that we're getting a little more story than I expected? Not really. BUT! I'm beginning to get déjà vu à la a certain other alien invasion-type *cough* Kindred *cough* never-ending-series. It's giving me waking nightmares that I hope don't come true. As much as I initially loved that whole story arc, it got really old after about book 13 or so, ya know?

Let's hope these don't end up there because that would be a shame. It's also why I stopped watching a certain daytime soap opera about 10 years ago when real life people were beginning to get demon-possessed [head-desk—thump—head-desk—thump]. Yep. EYEROLL.

eyeroll-the-rock-surrendering for two review pics

Anyway, I digress. I liked this book because we got to see the unprotected human point of view. The MC in this one had it rough. Beware triggers people; there are a few here. He was egregiously abused in every possible way. Every. Possible. Way. It was awful. But his hunky-sweet aliens make up for it.

It's absolutely cringeworthy from a psychology standpoint—the impossibility of an insta-recovery from the abuse this MC suffered—but FFS! This is a story about an alien invasion of Earth. Suspend disbelief folks, m'kay?

That said, if we immerse ourselves in the hypothetical, who's to say the soulmatch/bond thing these triads have going on—in conjunction with that everloving bitch Fate—wouldn't be enough to overcome some singularly human frailties if these things were possible in real life? Suspend disbelief folks! It's worth it because it makes these stories a lot of fun.

mindless fun surrendering for two review pics

This series won't be winning any pretentious prizes for literary achievement, but I give it high fives for entertainment factor and steaminess. Three words: perpetually hot threesomes.

So ... I hope the author doesn't drag the overarching story line out too far, but I really enjoyed the darker side of the human coin we saw in this installment. I'm pissed that we spent the whole book not knowing WTF is going on with Chris. I feel like the author's giving us an unnecessary cliffhanger on that aspect (hate it!).

But the tension is mounting and I'm still thoroughly interested in finding out how it all turns out. Hopefully sooner rather than later. At any rate, that makes it a success in my book even if it's OTT and patently unbelievable if you're using your rational mind. It's still really damned fun.

Not what I expected

I was so excited to see that this book had been published, but nothing happened in this story. Graham found that he felt the soul match with two Alasharians and I liked how he fought the bond because of what the Nall had subjected him to. I also liked the journey of acceptance and love that Graham experienced for Oman and for Balor.

But even then, though they were given time to fully complete the bond, it doesn't sound like they did. We can only assume that Morgan and his mates completed theirs. The Void stepped up its attacks on this group, but it's almost like no one is taking it seriously enough. Basically, this book is just a waiting game that builds up the suspense for what comes next. I almost wish that I had missed this so that when the next book comes out, I could just read both at the same time.

Things are heating up...

The battle against the Nall and the Void is coming. Preparations are being made. Graham has found his soul matches and everyone is making their way to the mountain. I'm still loving the story but I missed Chris, Lasar and Nary. I liked that Morgan and his mates helped Graham get away and I enjoyed seeing Graham find his mates but I didn't connect with him as much as I did with Morgan. Maybe because Morgan was more prominent in Chris's story, I knew him better. I didn't get to know Graham before he met Balor and then Oman. I did like that their mating was different than the others. And Balor was so sweet. I really liked him. I'm dying to see how all this ends.

Nah

This was my least favorite book that I’ve read so far in this series. All of thee other trios have been so selfless and loving towards each other and I have been loving it, but graham in this book is not a good Ahna(dominant) to their nasha(submissive) Balor. Balor is my favorite character that I’ve read so far, he is so sweet and innocent and so willing to please, he’s beautiful. But graham has been through a lot and he’s not willing to do anything that would even make him slightly uncomfortable, even if it would benefit his two other mates, Balor and Oman.

Wait, there is still more.

The story is expanding to include more characters. Things are heating up. I find it interesting that, as in real life, all matches are different. Though I am still hanging in, there is still more story.
