"The Government always has a plan, it just doesn't always include you."
MJ has known the world was ending for years. She spent her career making sure that information never became public knowledge. Now, she's about to find out just how far she'll go, to keep her bag of secrets.
During a flight home from New York, a massive storm sends MJ's plane plunging into the river. Surviving the crash and escaping the frigid water is the easy part. With a planet raging against humanity and a society on the brink of all-out anarchy, MJ has no one to turn to but herself.
Time is running out and as MJ embarks on a cross-country journey she finds that it's not just the clock she's racing against.
The date was October 31, 1979. The air was cool and a light fog blew in from the gulf, cloaking the Tampa area in an ominous, tight-fitting tunic. The annual Halloween festivities had just begun and a night of mischievous tomfoolery was afoot.
Scandalous and nefarious characters took flight. Doorbells were rung and ill-boding tricks were played regardless of the treats given. This was the dark reality of the bustling Florida metropolitan.
To the north, Grateful Dead crooned the night's theme music at the Nassau Coliseum. Within earshot of the concert, witnesses stated a UFO hovered over the grounds for thirty minutes before vanishing.
At the same time the Cromarty's were busy hosting their notorious Halloween party at 112 Ocean Ave., better known as the Amityville Horror House. Screams and cries for help were reported throughout the night, punctuated with the disappearance of the family next door. They were never heard from again.
Unknowingly altering the course of history, Kurt Vonnegut released "Jailbird" the same week KISS gained infamy on The Tomorrow Show. The aftermath of this collision would not be felt for decades until the emergence of Justin Bieber.
After a night filled with mayhem and destruction and the deaths of several prominent entertainers, politicians and a notorious bank robber, the Federal government was forced to loan $1.5 billion dollars to Chrysler. This spurred a series of violent protests, resulting in the Brunah Agate oil spill. Over 10.7 million gallons of oil were dumped into the Galveston Bay. This became the worst oil spill disaster in U.S. history.
A few hours later on November 1, 1979, Rashad Freeman was born. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.
In “Flight Plan” the third short novel in the “Deconstruction” series which creatively intertwines four different stories involving a disaster of apocalyptic proportions, opens with MJ the Deputy Director of the DIA who’s an integral part of the Mayflower project escaping after her plane crashes into the freezing Hudson River in a violent storm. Struggling to survive a cross-country journey home to her husband and son she’s certain that their fate like hers depends on reaching the Mayflower before time runs out for humanity.
Set in a futuristic America the Neilman Effect has begun to take the world by storm as society breaks apart. Having worked in secrecy for five years planning mankind’s survival, MJ is caught up in the disaster that leaves her stranded and searching for a way home. Fast-paced the action never slows as MJ faces a crumbling society shattered by earthquakes, the destruction of cities, looting, a sexual assault, mobs and a militia attack. Intensity and suspense escalate when after a harrowing experience she arrives home only to have to battle the elements and a threatening mob as she, her family, her colleagues and their military escort labour to reach the Mayflower before it departs.
Well-developed the plot flows smoothly with lots of bumps in the survivors’ progress that keeps the reader riveted to every page. As tension mounts with death always close, an internal conspiracy arises that has MJ fighting against her superiors' hidden agenda. All too quickly the third book in this emotionally gripping series draws to a close in a cliff-hanger that keeps you looking for the next book.
Tough, resilient forty-five MJ Buchannan working on a secret government project is only one of a host of compelling characters that infuse this story with strength, passion and excitement. Working in secret has forced her to live a life of lies with her loving, considerate husband Toby and her twelve-year-old son Grayson which changes all too quickly when they begin an adventure that has all three fighting to survive.
I thoroughly enjoyed “Flight Plan” the third in an apocalyptic adventure that gets better with every new story.
I really love Rashad Freeman's story style. Such an amazing talent. The deconstruction series continues with the totally thrilling Flight Path. This is cover to cover action, with the super storytelling, that seems to be Rashad's trademark. The characters have huge depth, and the dialogue flows so naturally from them. The world is literally collapsing all around, and MJ knows all about it. But it's all happening too soon. However her family is completely in the dark, and she needs to get to them before it's too late. Awesome story, in a fantastic series. Rashad Freeman is easily one of the best PA writers in the world.
This is the third book of the series and by far is the most coherent and best edited of the series so far. Each of the previous books have told a separate story of those characters journey until the all are in the same place at the end of this book. Good read, some good action, but some characters have plot holes that make their actions not understood. Hopefully the next book clears up some of these issues and continues to have good editing.
While I am still trying to understand what ultimately caused this destruction, and how book one ties in with the other two, I am enjoying the storyline. It’s not zombies or an emp that ends the world this time. It’s not the angst of a rogue nation. That would be way too easy. This apocalypse is strictly Mother Nature. After eons of abuse by her children, hell hath no fury like an angry mother.
This series is somewhat interesting. That being said, there are many things that need to be addressed. The grammar is sad, much copy editing needs to be done and there are glaring ommissions, such as what location the protagonist is in. I also find that the supposedly strong lead character is very hesitant on many occasions. I bought all 5, so I'll read them.
An RF. SYFY. Novel About the Destruction of Earth/ (DB. - 3)
RF. has. penned the third SYFY. About the Destruction of Earth as We Know It. In the third volume of the series we find another family in a course to arrive at the Mayflower before departure. The latest family is delayed by a plane crash as well as the prior two novels. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Good dialog. A nice mix of "bad guys" and wonderful humans. So much death and destruction. Just when you think it must be the end, the main character receives a reprieve. The mother/son bond is developed and deepened. A good read and the finale makes me want to read the next book in the series.
The plot was good but there are so many typos and wrong words in the sentences. I really did like the story but some of the phrasing seemed very off, like it was done by someone that doesn't really speak English
I am enjoying this series, however there are so many editing errors that just getting by them is driving me crazy. Can you tell that I am anal when it comes to misspellings, bad grammar and wrong word usage.
Flight Plan is definitely not my standard reading, however, I found it to be an excellent read. The attention to detail this author displays will have you believing the events are real and you will find yourself immersed in the action and suspense.
The book is fast reading without any break. I like to read such kind of books. It’s hard to believe a person with so many accidents survived at the end but it’s acceptable as it is a class of fiction. Would like to continue reading thanks
This book is the third in the series and continues in the same high speed action, chaos and survival of the books that preceded it. The main characters and the support characters have grown, developed and add greatly to the action and chaos.
I loved this book! Might never get in a plane again lol. Incredibly good storyline that sucks your air away and leaves you shaking in your boots! Can't wait for the next one!
