When her parents died of cholera Tamara Payton and her sister end up in an orphanage. For seven hard years she labors in the orphanage, cared for by a kind negro woman who protects her from the harshness of the senior warden.
The day Tamara overhears the warden all but selling she and her sister to someone as servants is the day she decides to flee to Sonora, Texas.
There she becomes housekeeper for a wealthy ranch owner, Gabriel Hunter, who throws convention to the wind when he discovers that there is much more to this dark young beauty than first meets the eye.
Out of the Shadows and Into The Light is a series of stories that follow the emotional journeys of four courageous ladies who refuse to be broken, and find God’s best plan for their future.
I enjoyed this short, clean romance. I voluntarily chose to review this and I've given it a 4.5* rating. This gives a view on how orphans could have been treated back in the early days. Some were treated much like slaves. Young people worked many jobs because of their size, they could get into small places. There were not laws to protect many of the workers then. I enjoyed most of the characters in this. This is also book 19 in the Pure Read Clean Read Vol 2 bundle of 41 books.
This is another book hard to put down. The story was so real and touched my heart, that children who had lost both parents were treated so cruelly. So glad there are people lime Mr Hunter who could see the beauty in mistreated people. This book is really worth reading if you want a feel good feeling.
I enjoyed reading this story of the characters set in the authors tale of the courage of the women that helped to settle the old west. Ms Terri Grace has done a great job to entertain me.
I enjoyed this book although I felt it was a bit short. I would have liked a bit more depth in the story as well as in the characters as I felt that there were places in the plot that could have been expanded quite a bit to make the story more enjoyable. All in all, though, it was a good read and I would recommend it as a good, sweet, clean historical romance.
Thoroughly enjoyed the story. Honestly, I just wasn't clear as to whether Tamara was black or white, not that it mattered just kinda wished it had been made more clear; otherwise totally enjoyed the story.
The writing and the characters were immature. Characters were not developed and back stories were naive and silly. The writer needs to do more research around the historical error that she is writing about. I do not recommend.
This book was really good. I just wish that it was longer. Its has to potential to be a longer book. There is so many unanswered questions . On to the next book.
This is the 6th book I read by Terri Grace. I loved ❤ this book's storyline. Some parts of this story was heart breaking 💔. I loved ❤ Tamara's character. I loved ❤ Gabriel's character. I didn't like Sandra, she got what she deserved. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Grace.
