Lillybeth Payton and her sister Tamara, grew up in an orphanage in Albany, New York, but when she turned sixteen, they had to flee because the senior warden wanted to sell them as house slaves. They ended up in Sonora, Texas, where her sister fell in love with the wealthy rancher who had employed them.
Lillybeth is a feisty young lady, something that Alex Garrett the ranch manger discovers as he fights to understand this unusual and attractive young lady.
His heart is turned forever when others seek to force him into a marriage of convenience to save his brother’s farm land, but Lillybeth courageously intervenes to save the day.
Could this girl he fought so passionately be the one he has been waiting for along?
Out of the Shadows and Into The Light is a series of stories that follow the emotional journeys of four courageous ladies who refuse to be broken, and find God’s best plan for their future.
Lillybeth is a second in the series of stories by Terri Grace. I like the Out of the Shadows & Into the Light book. We meet Lillybeth as her and her sisters and mother figure Ida start over in a new location and deal with some expected issues. Lillybeth gets her love story although it takes a minute to get there. The reader gets insight on the world in which Lillybeth has had to deal with, the society and cultural norms. This is a short and well written novella set in the historical romance genre.
I enjoyed this story, the author has done a great job of telling her story of adventure and romance. The characters in this story are well put together in the west.
Just toooo sweet! And I laughed out loud at Alex's stupid family. Whew, he dodged a few bullets from those fools! 😆 Each of the dramas in these short stories give just the substance they need. Very well written.
I like the spitfire passion of Lillybeth. She was a defender, and if she’s in your side, you are in a good place. Little did she know she had feelings for the cowboy, bec she was always at odds with him. When she was made aware, she changed her approach. In Lillybeth fashion, she stumbled upon how she could help, and ended up with her very own cowboy!
I enjoyed this book's storyline. I really liked Lilybeth's character. I really liked Alex's character. I felt sorry for Alex. I really liked reading about Tamara & Gabriel. I really liked the ending.
