Nic has always been a bit of a loner, happy with her solitary her books, playlists, and trying out new recipes.
One day she finds an abandoned table on her lunch break. When she returns the following day, hoping for solitude, she is surprised, and irritated, to find someone else there.
Gory sits on the other side of the table, masked by his hoodie and his headphones. There's a mystery surrounding him that draws Nic in. After a few shared lunches, Nic realises that she enjoys Gory's company.
She considers telling him how much their time together means to her, but time has a way of running out.
The characters in this book are compelling. Nic’s journey through her days as she frequents the table at lunch draws you in. I found myself turning the pages, even late at night, to find out what happens next.
Little parts that drew me in were her love for cooking and how she could make something out of nothing. This book has so many “oh my goodness!” moments. The story made you want to take a seat down at the “The Table.”
