Claire has always struggled with anger management issues, but she had no idea it was a symptom of being a werewolf. When the new interim principal – who is actually a rogue demon – tells five teens that they are supernaturals and a demon lord is after them for their gifts, Claire struggles to believe it.
When the principal threatens to turn them over to the demon lord if they don't help break her free, Claire must work with a vampire, an elementalist, a shapeshifter, and a witch to learn magic and battle skills. The fact that the vampire had almost fed on her best friend doesn’t make her very willing to work with any of the others, even if it was in her nature to play nice.
Can Claire learn to accept who she is and choose to embrace the inner beast in order to stop the demons after them? And if she does, will that ruin her chances of finding love with the boy she’s always wished was more than a friend?
Intense from the first word. I know it's a series so I expected the same from this as others where it's slow. NOPE! I was into the book the moment I started reading it. WHICH IS MY FAVORITE KIND OF BOOK! I loved it! I cannot wait to dive into the next one!!!
A werewolf, a vampire, an elementalist, a shapeshifter, and a witch walk into a bar ... well, actually they walk into a story and it’s a pretty darn good one at that. L.K. Bastian is a new author for me, but based on her Claire: Daimon High Book One, I’m promising myself that we will become well acquainted. This novel truly is, quite simply, wonderful. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot full of magic, excitement and, yes, angst. Claire, the (werewolf) lead here, is perfectly crafted and her supporting cast is also superb. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommended and I’m definitely looking forward to book 2.
Clairemont is a high school student who gets mad at everyone all the time it seams like. But she really hates one female student in particular and they spar a lot when they are learn about their 'new' abilities. Claire has a love interest in this book as well but at first he acts like he doesn't even know she's there. You'll just have to read this amazing book for yourself to find out if Claire gets her man and she figures out what is going on with her new powers. Happy reading!
The plot was very interesting and kept my attention. The writing was awesome and I didn't want to put it down. Good realistic characters I can relate to and over all I suggest those that love the supernatural should totally read this
This was a YA paranormal story and is not the genre that I normally read. But I found it to be well written and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and the book moved at a good pace. I read an advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
A very entertaining young adult read. Five kids find out they have supernatural abilities and they are trained to fight the demon lord! Lots of twists and supernatural action! All of this whilst trying to understanding life as a teenager.
What a fun story! Very interesting characters. A unique plot that is well written. Tons of fighting action. Reads fast with no sexual content so it's for all ages. I recommend it for a fun read and will look for more in this series.
A fantastic supernatural story! I loved learning along with the character, about the new strange world of powers, navigating crazy high school life and battling evil creatures.
