Souls of Chicago #6

Uniting the Souls

Rate this book
As the owner of Agape House, a center for Chicago’s LGBTQ youth, Matt worked tirelessly to provide a safe and loving atmosphere for the kids who called the center home. He put his heart and soul into helping the teens in his care, pushing aside his own pain. A pain that no one knew about, not even his closest friend, Isaac.
When Isaac first arrived at Agape House in need of shelter, the first person he saw was Matt. Isaac could tell that Matt was a good man and as he got to know him better, he began to trust him and the two became close friends. As an adult, Isaac began working at the center, wanting to give back to the place and the man who had saved his life. Over time, his feelings for Matt grew, but he wasn’t sure if Matt would ever see him as more than just a friend.
Dr. Hudson Westley was impressed when he heard from his friends about the work being done at Agape House so he decided to check it out for himself in the hopes of volunteering his counseling services. He was excited to help the LGBTQ youth from his home city. However, he wasn’t expecting the visceral reaction he had to both Isaac and Matt when they met.
The attraction between the three men was immediate and powerful, taking them all by surprise, especially Matt who not only found himself drawn to Hudson, but began to see Isaac through new eyes as well. There was obviously something special between them, but would Matt be able to let go of his past in order to create a future? Would Isaac finally open up about what happened that led him to Agape House all those years ago, and could Hudson be strong enough to hold them all together, creating a love like they’ve never known and uniting their souls?

Possible trigger warnings: This book contains situations of child abuse, physical violence and substance abuse which may be disturbing to some readers.

Another disappointing menage. This one had potential but ended up being a bit repetitive.

Keep in mind, I'm rusty. I haven't read and reviewed in almost 2 years. I'll get me sea M/M legs back!

2.5 rounded up because my sea legs are showing.

4 stars.

Going in, I didn't know that this was a M/M/M book and honestly that didn't affect my rating of the book at all. If anything it was hotter then I was expecting it to be. I loved Isaac, Matt and Hudson. Nothing alike but have one thing in common; wanting to help those in need at the center.

Though I do wish the story was a bit more drawn out, I did enjoy the way it was written and how they all came together. Their story was heartbreaking and something that will make you tear up.

I'm glad they got their HEA. And I can't wait to see what else Annabella writes for us in this series.

Lovely conclusion to the Souls series

And so it ends, or at least this current series focussing on the Greene family and their friends comes to a conclusion.

This one is a super sweet menage which sees therapist Hudson meet the two guys who are perfect for him and each other.

I loved watching their romance develop, there's no messing about here with miscommunication and plot delays for the sake of it.

The angst is low level and focusses more on events from the past for both Matt and Isaac rather than on relationship woes.
It's quite a long tale as well, as each individual man gets the chance to offer up their unprotected hearts and their painful backgrounds.

The sex when it happens is handled well and with lots of emotions and passion and it's clear this menage is of equal weight with no one taking a lesser place.

Lush cover as always.

*** This is a soul piercing, heartfelt male ménage romance, and worth every minute.
We get all three men's thoughts and feelings, and we see that each man is interested in a threesome. None had considered that before.
Hudson is a Doctor/Therapist,

a bald black man with a goatee, who has helped previous characters in this series.
Curly haired Matt is the founder/owner

of Agape House for homeless LGBTQ teens.
Isaac, younger and fragile in appearance,

is now Matt's assistant at the house which has just reopened in the new building. Being surrounded by their friends and family and the LGBTQ community, the men are not overly anxious about how they will be accepted. They are concerned with protecting their hearts.
It's first times for sweet Isaac, who has never even kissed anyone, let alone had sex; so it's up to Matt and Hudson to make it all as pleasurable as possible for him.
Their M/M/M ménage sessions are explosive and emotional.
We finally hear Matt's sad tale of his past. Each man has a story to tell, but Isaac's is gut wrenching, and I cried so hard I couldn't see the pages. This book is an amazingly told book with lots of heart and tenderness.

Their transition from single men to a threesome is almost flawless and their love begins to shine so brightly. It is meant to be.
Yes, your heart will be overloaded with the sadness and then replaced with the joy.
The epilogue is magnificent !
Very highly recommended. ENJOY !

It's been a while since I've in this series. I was nervous I think because the MMM in books hasn't been a favorite of mine. There's always too much jealousy and questioning usually. Thankfully, this didn't have that. Matt, Hudson, and Isaac seemed to fit together seamlessly.

I did forget how this author loves insta love. Because they all had inner thoughts of loving one another after only a couple ties being around each other.

I was a little frustrated with the Zane story line because we get invested, but have no conclusion at all. We don't get anything about where they are in the future. We get an epilogue bringing together the Greene family clearly marking the end of the series.

I mean, where are these three in the future? Did they have kids? Did they expand their non-profit? I guess we either never know, or we have to read another book/series to 'hopefully' find out.

Finale di serie meraviglioso 💗
***

Menage is pretty much my favorite genre/trope to read. The psychology of it fascinates me and if done right, all pieces fall into an amazing place. Because of my deep love for it I have become incredibly picky about it. Too often I will read a book where the focus is mainly on sex or just communication. Separate, each are great but to make any relationship work they need to meld together.

Uniting the Souls really checked off every box for me. Hudson, Matt, and Isaac were not just perfect for each other, but they came together seamlessly.

When the book starts the prologue shows us Hudson, Matt, and Isaac coming face to face with each other for the first time. Even though Matt and Isaac have known each other for years it's like they see each other for the first time too. It was in the early moments I realized how the author was going to make this work.

There is no established couple that brings in a third. This is three people coming together... uniting... at the same exact time. Each man has a backstory that will fracture your heart. But, out of all of them I felt Isaac's story was the most gutwrenching. I sobbed, truly. I needed to wait until I could see clearly to continue. I'm not saying the other guy's stories weren't heartbreaking but Isaac's stuck with me HARD!

The author made the physical and emotional equally as important in this book and it was because they never ran from each other, never avoided that this triad won my heart. They weren't whiny kids. They were grown men with good heads on their shoulders wanting an everlasting love.

I don't know if this is a standalone to be honest. It COULD be but you would get minor spoilers from other couples who have had books in this series. But, you still could read it alone because though there are spoilers you don't know how any of it came to be.

Menage lovers, people who love some good angst with a beautiful HEA grab this book for sure!

I had high hopes for this book because I really enjoyed Constructing the Souls and the teaser at the end hinted this triad would be hot. I was most bothered by the lack of research done on how psychologists practice and their ethics. As a psychologist, I just couldn't get past all the ethical violations Hudson made and how many errors were made in the descriptions about his training and applying for the volunteer job. The other part that detracted from the book was the absence of thoughtful acknowledgment or discussion about race. The description of Hudson's skin color read as being exoticized rather than recognizing his race as a legitimate part of his personal identity.

I felt very conflicted about this book. I did not feel any connection with each character and I felt the whole story rushed and half-delivered. The story just didn't hold up to the previous books.

HOT DAYUM!! Annabella Michaels tripled the steam factor in this amazing story. First of all, I’ve read every book in this series and I swear the level of creativity and writing gets better and better with each one. Each couple steals a little piece of your heart because they are just so damn special in their own way but Hudson, Isaac and Matt…….. no words! So many words! GAH!! How do you express the perfection that is written in these pages that will do the book and this author any justice? I feel like sometimes I use the same words, phenomenal, beautiful, and heartwarming. And yes, it was all those things but it was just so much greater than that!

Hudson, Isaac and Matt were beyond perfection. Their bond was instant and although Isaac and Matt had to deal with things from their past it was just inevitable. The emotional and physical bond between these three men was absolutely mesmerizing. Such beauty and perfection just flowed so seamlessly and Annabella did an amazing job giving each character equal amounts of love, attention and time to tell their POVs. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to this series. Her writing is so impeccable and these flawless characters had me so damn captivated.

I was so anticipating this story. I am just so fucking giddy and content with the outcome. All the other books in this series were fantastic and it was like the author said I’m taking this series out with a motherfucking bang. She brought it! These guys are EVERYTHING!! It’s emotional, touching, romantic, smoking hot times three and PERFECT! Complete and utter PERFECTION! I just don’t know what I’m going to do with myself knowing that there are no more Souls of Chicago men to look forward to. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for future projects.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was sweet and definitely had some heat but it also had a pretty solid story and good character. I would have liked if more than just Hudson showed his alpha side but it was definitely a fun read

Ugh! So much telling! Even though we get the POV from all three guys, we got a lot of observations like these ones which absolutely drive me mad:

“The look in Matt’s eyes was a mixture of heat and confusion and something else that I wasn’t quite sure of, but if I had to guess, I’d have to say… guilt?”

Or

“He was gorgeous with smoky gray eyes, which widened as he stared back at me with a mixture of surprise, curiosity, and heat.”

So here is an idea, why aren’t the MCs telling me how they are feeling since they are Sharing their POV as it is? Speaking of sharing, also how about instead is telling me how they “had issues but were able to work them out”, you show me some of those issues instead of dedicating a whole chapter to the wedding of a previous book’s couple?

Which brings me to the my main issue with series that span over different couples: I am reading this book to learn and cheer THIS couple’s story not to find out what happen to such and such couples from the previous 4 Books. Ugh! So I wouldn’t say this is a standalone per se.

There were other things I didn’t like about this story: the guys look at each other for the first time and suddenly all three had the epiphany that they want to be with the other two. What are the chances of that? Only two of the guys knew each other previously as coworkers. Also, one guy is reluctant to consider even going out for a meal with other two but one night changes his mind and next time they are all having a “hot” threesome. Also: awkward sex and like I said I don’t see a lot of these guys evolving relationship on page.

Not the worst MMM I have ever read ( that honor still belongs to More by Sloan Parker) but probably second or third worst.

A warm and loving story.

While I have loved every book in this series this one "Uniting the Souls" is my favorite. Matt, Isaac, and Hudson really touched my heart and the love they share is beautiful. A warm and loving story that made me smile even through the tears.

The sex scenes were hot, I'd give you that, but otherwise the book was not very memorable. The main characters seemed unbelievable to me, in the sense that they were absolutely perfect most of the time, when they were not relieving past traumas or avoiding them. Single humble model saints with a six-pack (or an eight-pack...). The descriptions of the shelter house and its contribution to society came off as dry, detached and monotone, like a paper's article or a rehearsed speech. A pity.

P.S. - The multiple POVs were not used very efficiently. If you choose to repeat a certain scene from a different POV, the new POV should add something meaningful we could not perceive from the first. That usually did not happen here. The narrative of the overlapping scenes was repetitious.

This could have been so good. But how do you form a ménage in less than 300 pages? You don’t. I finished all of these books in just a few days and i will say that I love when serial series involve family members and that’s probably why I kept going. I also loved how supportive everyone always was. It was beautiful.
But the writing became stagnant. The sex scenes were all the same, even when they added a third person.

Uh oh! Last book in this phenomenal series. I really just don’t want it to end. Huge sigh while writing this review.

The story isn’t M/M. What? That’s right, it’s better. What could be better you ask? Well, triple the pleasure of course M/M/M. This addition to the series was off the charts in all areas. I couldn’t put it down.

Matt who owns Agape House has always been in the background. He love to help others was always evident, but no one really knew anything about him.

Isaac who works at Agape was actually a resident to begin with. He will never forget what Matt did for him. He’s idolize Matt since they first met.

Hudson, Dr. Hudson Westley known in previous books is one fine man, has help out many throughout the series. He’s one hottie Doctor that’s for sure.

Hudson has his sights set on not just one man, but two. How does he think this is even possible? Matt is like a hard nut no one can crack, Isaac is almost impossibly shy. And he thinks he’s going to get them both in his bed and not just for one night.

Well, it seems some attractions are just too hard to fight. Thank you Anna Michaels for making it possible for three souls to become almost one. I couldn’t believe how hot this story was. Don’t get me wrong it was emotional and it had much needed humor but the chemistry was explosive.

Hudson was a patient man. He knew what he wanted and he’d wait for each of them to come to him. When Matt broke down I didn’t think I could love Hudson more. His empathy knew no bounds. When Isaac told them of is worst nightmare I sobbed.

Anyone in this world would lucky to have a Hudson in their lives. All three complement each other beautifully, but Hudson brought them all together, he is the rock that binds them.

I feel like I have come to an end and I could actually cry. I don’t want this series to be over. I have been on quite an adventure. I want to live in Chicago with the Greene family.

I don’t think any amount of words in the English dictionary will truly do this series justice.

I always enjoy being drawn back into the Greene world and all those who play a role in it. In this 6th installment of Annabella’s “Souls of Chicago” series we are told the story of Isaac, Hudson and Matt’s relationship. Matt and Isaac have been working together for years at Agape House, while Isaac has feelings for Matt, they are not returned. At the opening of the new Agape House, Hudson walks over and things change in an instant. The chemistry and spark between all three of them has them all initially perplexed, yet they are continually drawn together.

Sometimes, in triad books, I find them lacking in real emotional feelings between all those involved. This book is an exception, from the beginning all three of these men connected on an emotional level. The telling of Matt and Isaac’s backstory was unerringly heartbreaking. These two had so many emotional scars that they were being torn them apart inside. Through the love they found in each other, they were able to finally confront and share their past with the men who loved them. Their stories tore my heart out. I just wanted to wrap Matt and, especially Isaac, up in a big hug. Isaac’s backstory is just, wow, remember the tissues.

I’m so happy that these men found each other and that we got to see the Greene’s again. I love them all and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I have a feeling that, even with their series over, they may be making cameos in other books. I hope. 
