Running into the one-off she’s never been able to forget complicates the hell out of her summer holiday.
Ivy Wright knows several things to be true: Marrying a guy who can’t keep it in his pants is a terrible idea. So is having a drunken, secret one-night stand with her best friend’s little brother. And catching a soccer ball with one’s face never works out well for anyone. When all three collide, what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation in the English countryside becomes unbelievably awkward not to mention sexually charged.
While recovering from a potentially career-ending injury, English football player, Will Darby, runs into the one woman he’d given up hope of ever seeing again. No longer chafing at being sidelined, Will is a man on a mission. He’s never forgotten his one and only night with Ivy, and their attraction is stronger than ever.
Convincing her to give him a chance is only the first hurdle. Getting her to admit her kinks and let him give her what she needs physically and emotionally is another, but is their connection enough when her secrets keep pushing them apart?
Bronwyn Green is an award-winning author, blogger, and compulsive crafter. She lives in Michigan with her husband, two children and three somewhat psychotic cats. When not frantically writing, she can be found binge-watching Netflix while working on her latest craft project.
Fun, hot, and so relatable. Loved the angsty twists and turns too - not too much. Not too little. And never anything but believable. Green always writes characters you really want to spend time with.
Plus a football romance that actually gets British details right!
In Bounds is the sixth story in the loosely-related Bound series, and I’ve enjoyed “re-reading” each of the books via audiobook format. Having originally read In Bounds back almost two years ago, I found I’d forgotten key aspects of the story, which made the listen more fun in some ways.
Having recently discovered her husband is having an affair (and child) with one of her students’ mother, Ivy is spending the summer overseas tutoring best friend Charlotte’s children. But when Charlotte has a family emergency that sends the whole family to the States, Ivy is left dealing with her attraction to Charlotte’s younger brother, Will. Will wants Ivy and is wiling to play dirty to keep Ivy in country and in his bed.
From my original review (December 2016): “In Bounds is another wonderful, sexy romance in the Bound series, a set of loosely connected, standalone BDSM-lite stories from Bronwyn Green and Jessica Jarman. I love that the books, In Bounds included, embrace healthy relationships, focusing on couples that enjoy sex and exploring mutually satisfying kinks. While there may be bumps in the road and issues to overcome, they don’t dominate the pages of the story.
Overall, I adored Ivy and Will, and enjoyed their story. The author puts the focus on the romantic storyline, giving it heart. Will was perfect, maybe a bit too perfect and understanding, but that’s just what Ivy needed and deserved. In Bounds warmed my heart and put a smile on my face.”
Narration: In Bounds shares its story from the alternating third person POVs of Ivy and Will. Overall, both had please voices and did a solid job going back and forth between American and British accents. Mr. Diamond’s American female is slightly better than Ms. Eaton’s British male, but both do a decent job switching tone for gender and accent for country of origin. I did feel that Ms. Eaton’s version of Will clashed a bit with Mr. Diamond’s version because his is easy going, and deep; whereas Ms. Eaton’s version sounds prime and proper, and of course, more feminine.
My biggest issue was with Ms. Eaton, who used long pauses between every “paragraph.” In fact, it was so long that at times, I thought the story was breaking for a new chapter. I ended up listening to the book at 1.5x speed, which helped the pausing issue, but wasn’t the best playback speed for Ms. Eaton’s dialogue and narration. Mr. Diamond, who narrated the previous story in the series, works at 1.5x playback speed.
In the end, I enjoyed listening to In Bounds. Hearing the story come to life adds a dimension to the story you don’t get when reading it.

This was my first Bronwyn Green's book. This second chance to love is the book 6 in The Bound Series. I haven't read the first books in the Series, but I will. Both, Ivy and Will, are great characters. I love them both. They share a strong, undeniable and intense chemistry. This story is beautifully well written. I liked the storyline and the characters. I loved the epilogue! The narration was really well done with a perfect pace for this story. I loved the British accent. I really enjoyed my listening and I totally recommend this audiobook. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
The whole time I was listening to this book I just kept thinking, what rock have I been living under that this is the first book by Bronwyn Green that I have read. I wasn't sure what to expect of this author's style but I loved every single second of it. From the very beginning, I was connected to the characters and was pulling for them. In Bounds is packed full of every emotion you can think of. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with Will and Ivy. I need to read the other books in this series ASAP!!!
After finding out her school principal husband was having an affair with the mother of one of her students, Ivy Wright decided to take an extended vacation helping out her best friend’s family in England. While Ivy enjoys tutoring Charlotte’s children, she hopes that Charlotte’s younger brother doesn’t remember her… the drunken woman with whom he had a hookup in the coat check at Charlotte and Caleb’s wedding reception.
Will Darby has been sidelined from his professional soccer (football) career due to a knee injury. With mandatory time off, he’s hoping to re-connect with Ivy, the one woman he hasn’t been able to forget in the past twelve years. And when he sees Ivy again, he knows he needs to explore their mutual attraction… and kinks.
In Bounds is another wonderful, sexy romance in the Bound series, a set of loosely connected, standalone BDSM-lite stories from Bronwyn Green and Jessica Jarman. I love that the books, In Bounds included, embrace healthy relationships, focusing on couples that enjoy sex and exploring mutually satisfying kinks. While there may be bumps in the road and issues to overcome, they don’t dominate the pages of the story.
Will is a man obsessed. He’s never forgotten Ivy or how much he enjoyed their brief encounter. Twelve years older and wiser, Will has taken the time to learn how to please a woman and what he wants for himself. He’s cocky, but not overly arrogant, and completely direct. He tells Ivy pointblank how much he wants her and what exactly he wants to do to her. Such direct talk is refreshing and thrilling. And while he gives Ivy space to deal with her own issues surrounding her ex-husband’s actions and detrimental attitude, he supports her both emotionally and physically, almost willing her to recover and commit to him. Will is understanding, patient, sexy, and kind… almost too much so. But who doesn’t need a bit of perfection in their lives now and then?
Ivy has issues, but she doesn’t dwell. She’s determined to enjoy her time with Charlotte, but as the book progresses, we see how lonely Ivy truly is. She carries her baggage, and Will wants to take it from her. It’s heartwarming to see how much Will gets her to open up and trust again, after some back and forth, of course. While Ivy’s biggest concern during the entire book seems to be Charlotte finding out about her night with Will back twelve years ago, there is actually a much larger secret that is downplayed almost too much. While I finally picked up on it over halfway through the story, I felt like the weight of the secret should have been a bit more present in Ivy’s conscious thoughts throughout the book.
Overall, I adored Ivy and Will, and enjoyed their story. While it seemed to me that the overall timeline was a bit loose, it was more of a small annoyance than a problem. Rather, the author puts the focus on the romantic storyline, giving it heart. Will was perfect, maybe a bit too perfect and understanding, but that’s just what Ivy needed and deserved. In Bounds warmed my heart and put a smile on my face.
My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot Review copy provided by author Originally posted at That's What I'm Talking About
Ivy's adorable and Will's hot. Great chemistry, hot sex scenes, check.
Love-love-love the setup of the second-chance romance aspect and how it subverts an incredibly common trope. Not going to spoil which one, because where's the fun in that?
This particular entry in the series is somewhat lighter on the BDSM scale than others, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing; for one, it lets us pare down the sometimes-tedious explanation of how everything works, which can get awfully old to the reader when they've seen repeated it across many books, and two, it avoids a 50SoG-style steep dive into the deep end of the pool when one of the participants is experienced (Will) and one is basically brand new (Ivy.) So cheers on handling that with grace.
My only real criticism that kept it from five stars is that it felt a little rushed, a little short. I would have liked to have seen their relationship grow a bit deeper before the resolution and the HEA epilogue, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
This is an awesome second chance romance with an older woman and younger man. It's not angsty, insta-love (but tons of butterflies and chemistry that is smoldering!).
This was a welcome reprieve from some books in the genre as it didn't seek to degrade or humiliate. Also, there wasn't the usual tropes one finds with second chance romances - the secret baby isn't exploited to add drama as there isn't a baby at all. There's no secret lover either. Nothing outlandish and the leads are level headed...they actually communicate.
Green's characters are unusual for the genre as they're realistically portrayed. They could be anyone and the actions of the characters make sense. There's no one TSTL, there's no one with a crazy dramatic life. Some may call that mundane but after all the books I've read, it's a refreshing change to not need to suspend my disbelief to the breaking point.
An unconventional heroine and a smoking hot Hero make for a book that drags you in at the first chapter and keeps you on tenterhooks until the end.
Both Ivy and Will are touchingly believable characters, and I loved watching their intense attraction unfold. Ivy's insecurities became more real, and more sympathetic as her backstory unfolded; Will was so perfect he had me drooling on my tablet (and screaming, "GO FOR IT, IVY!"). And of course, the chemistry between the two was sizzling.
But it wasn't just the chemistry, the amazing and creative sexy time scenes, or the flawed, sympathetic characters. This plot took a couple turns I wasn't expecting, especially in the last half of the novel, and it was enough to keep me glued to my Kindle. This story is so believable it'll make your heart ache, and you'll be cheering for Ivy and Will all the way!
This book was just so enjoyable. Ivy and Will are complicated in the best possible way. There are so many issues keeping them apart, but you just know from the first page that they are meant to be together.
There was a lot of light-hearted fun in this one, but the last third of the book took me somewhere thoughtful and tender. It was a lovely, sexy journey that left me sighing in contentment.
I'm a huge fan of this Bound series, and In Bounds carries on the fun and the romance. If you haven't treated yourself to this series yet, jump right in! You won't regret it!
I am sure there are readers out there who may think Ivy's insecurities got old and tiresome. Usually I would agree since I am not a fan of too much realism in my fantasy. I had this feeling the author had more than a little peak inside my messed up head. I so understood Ivy and where she was coming from. The author did a delicious mix of angsty story and hot kinky, um, romance. *sigh* I was also a bit impressed with the wonderfully British flavor of this story. Well done!
