Help young children learn social skills and get ready for a successful start to school with this award-winning alphabet book.
C is for cooperate . G is for grow . P is for play ! This friendly and reassuring alphabet book helps young children (and those who care for them) consider, explore, and discuss a wide range of skills related to school readiness. Kids preparing for kindergarten or preK will learn social skills from A to Z, building or reinforcing their knowledge of the alphabet at the same time. Charming art brings the skills to life with encouraging scenes of fun and learning in the classroom, on the playground, and more. A special section for adults presents ideas for helping children get ready for this big change and have a successful start to school.
This book used the ABCs as a way to teach social skills that students will use during school for example; I is for include others. They also include pictures hidden on the page of items that start with the letter, for L they had a picture of a lion. I think this is an amazing book that will not only help children learn their ABCs but also help them learn the social skills that they need to be ready for school. Children starting school may be anxious so this could be a good book to help them understand skills that they will need or will learn in school in addition to teaching them their ABCs.
I think this book is K-3 because these students may need more help learning the alphabet and learning social skills for school. This book could also be beneficial for older elementary students if they need reminders of character values/social skills they should be following in school. This would be a great read-aloud book, especially for Kindergarten students since it is their first year at school and they will learn social skills for school as well as practice their ABCs.
I loved the illustrations in this book and how much diversity there was. Students will be able to read this book and point out characters who look like them. Overall I think this is an amazing book to help children learn their ABCs and acquire the social skills and character values necessary for school and life in general.
Great picture book about preparing yourself for starting kindergarten - but could be for a bit older kids transitioning to a new school or from homeschooling as well. So much of school is not only book learning but learning how to interact with others, with information, and with the world. I really appreciated that.
That being said, because it is an A to Z book, and each letter has a few sentences attached, it's just too long for story time. Will definitely be recommending this to parents, though.
I didn’t notice the subtitle: “An Alphabet of Social Skills.” So I was expecting something more concrete (B is for Book, M is for Music class.) The subtitle explained the ambiguity, which, was unfortunately not my favorite. A whole alphabet of social skills seemed like a lot for a child who is already overwhelmed by the thought of school to understand. This will definitely require more than one read and a question-answer session with an adult.
"Ready for School" by Celeste is such a fun and creative book! It takes kids through everything they need for school in alphabetical order, making it both entertaining and educational. I loved how it uses the ABCs to teach organization and get kids excited about being prepared for school. It's perfect for helping young readers learn while having fun, and it’s a great tool for parents or teachers to introduce the idea of being school-ready in a playful way!
Fun for young kids and ground ups who li e kids that are preparing for school. A good read aloud reminder for kinder and first graders who know about school but also May forget the finer points as the school year winds to a close.
