August's got a mouth on her. With that fiery red hair, freckles, and fierce scowl, she orders us around like she owns us. And the rest of the band seems fine with letting her run the show. But not me. She might be our manager, but there's no way she can manage me. She thinks falling for a musician is a mistake. I'm going to be the best mistake she'll ever make.
Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.
After five years of writing romance under a penname, Theresa finally decided to own up to how she was spending her all time. Her mother now knows all about the kinds of books she writes. She reacted more positively to it than Theresa expected.
Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her husband, twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.
Oh my freakin’ holy wow, this is such a great book!! What’s not to love about two people going from hating each other to happily ever after, and the immensely entertaining path it takes them to get there? Jules is the drummer for the band Wreckage, and their manager, August, is all business. Jules sees her as stubborn, bossy and uptight, but finds great delight in pushing her buttons and watching her irritation manifest itself in a blush that spreads prettily across her cheeks to match her gorgeous flaming hair. August is determined to keep things professional, knowing anything with Jules would be the worst mistake she could make. Ripped is a fantastic read! I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this book but loved it so much I purchased my own copy. I’m new to this author, but she has effortlessly captivated me with first Jagged and now Ripped. I adore the boys of Wreckage and fear they now own my heart. Jules is the perfect counterbalance to August, who’s motivated, always responsible, and the glue that holds her family together. Although she’s responsible for the band members’ careers, being around them provides some much needed comic relief, from underwear being “accidentally” stolen to the terrifyingly wrong kind of intimacy between Jules and the sound technician that has August, band members and the reader laughing to the point of tears. Add to that the loads of sexual tension and explosive chemistry between Jules and August, and it’s not long before August finds that there are some mistakes that are impossible to avoid.
It takes a creative mind and a huge dose of talent to create a book that flows so effortlessly and so fully immerses the reader in a fictional world that she sees, hears, feels, tastes and smells the individual details in the story as it comes alive on the pages. From the stars in the sky and the smell of Italian food to the charged atmosphere and energy at the Wreckage concert, the reader is front and center in this larger than life read. The sweet, the sexy, the hilarious, and the bit of angst all make for an exceptionally satisfying read, and one that you’ll be sorry to see end.
I've read a few books by Ms.Lux and I liked them all, but not this ;(
I've read a few books by Ms.Lux and I liked them all, but not this ;( For me this was such a fail, I tried but by 63% of the book I honestly couldn't find a single thing to like about either Jules or August.... They both seemed juvenile and immature, all he did was drink and swear, and get off on making August angry, though granted August was about as easy as a bull w/armed flag... At 63% I didn't feel like I really knew either character , they both seemed shallow and one dimensional, August might have had the bands best interest at heart, but all she seemed to be was bitter and angry and impatient, and Jules just seemed to live to rile her... She seems to hate musicians at the same time wants to so be all her time w/them managing them ... No backstories to explain their immature behavior,i mean ok she was cheated on, but that's beyond cliché and she's the one that chose to stay in this world, if she doesn't like or trust musicians why be there ? All the two did was b**** and snipe at each other til finally he wanted in his bed ... these aren't witty or interesting .... Just sad and lame,I kept hoping it would get better but at 63% I knew no matter what happened it didn't matter because these two had already lost me and I stopped caring ages ago.. Ok, that s a lie ... I never was able to care about these two awful one dimensional people, he was a drunken booze hound that just like to get s rise out of her because like a boy in grade school he couldn't admit to liking a girl, sighs and She was busy acting like a bitter controlling harpy to be interesting at all ... Soo what , you boyfriend cheated!!! Get a ice and if you don't trust musicians because of him !work with other people .... And chill out, "resting murder face" isn't a compliment, you immature harpy... Off to delete ...
Now THIS is how to write heart-pounding, page-turning chemistry, panty-melting sex scenes that’s built on genuine attraction, fueled by romantic, lust-filled banter, with a can’t-be-denied connection.
I easily became drawn into the story, its characters, the cat-and-mouse tension between August and Jules. The side story of August’s relationship with her brothers, especially “Tator”, added a credible dose of real life and was masterfully kneaded into the concluding chapters and subsequent reconciliation.
Lux’s writing style and method of storytelling had me swiftly turning the pages, not wanting to put the book aside. The romantic and sexual chemistry between Jules and August was tantalizing, and I was impatient for them to get together. Tossing in a competing potential love interest truly poked the bear and only served to embolden the intensity between these two. The secondary characters were richly developed yet never deterred or took away from the main storyline.
RIPPED is a fun, hot read that kept me enraptured from start to finish. It’s going to be difficult for Lux to top this one.
I love all things rockstar and Ripped by Vivian Lux is one of the better ones that I have read. This is book #2 in her Wreckage series but can be read as a complete standalone without missing a beat. What do you get when you put one confident, sexy as all get out Rockstar drummer with a hot British accent and a feisty red-headed slightly bossy manager out in the middle of nowhere? You get one hate to love relationship so explosive that you will not want to but the book down. Jules is the drummer that August tries so hard to resist as she doesn't date musicians. Resistance is futile as Jules is the best mistake she'll ever make. Along with all the angst that goes along with August and Jules budding romance, there is also some very tender loving moments that will tug gently at the heartstrings. I loved every moment of this book and look forward to the remaining books in this series. This is definitely a highly recommended 5-star read. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is a low-key, low-drama rockstar romance. The main drama is between the two main characters as they decide whether to be or not to be. However, don't let the plot simplicity fool you.
A hoverer by nature, August is accustomed to doing everything for her family, as they depend heavily on her. She knows how to control every single aspect of her life - except her response & attraction to Julian aka Jules. Scared of the feelings he rouses in her, she's put up walls to prevent them from getting close. Jules is attracted to August, but is getting tired of playing games. He's vowed to have August regardless of her protestations.
This is the second in the Wreckage series. I haven't read the first, so I can safely say that this book can stand on its own. I definitely recommend this book, and look forward to reading more about this band. I've already purchased "Jagged" so I can be all caught up by the time Book #3 rolls out.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
Vivian Lux never seizes to amaze me with her work! Ripped was perfect..5 swoon-worthy stars!! Although it is book #2 in this series..it can be read all by itself! Jules..O M G..perfect..perfect..perfect! Drummer with british accent..tats and he treats the object of his affection like a queen!! He deserves a star all by his self! August..red-headed firecracker that will do anything for the people that she loves..shes perfect too! Jules + August = lots of steamy goodness that will satisfy your need for some angsty love! Jules and August have been fighting their attraction to one another being that August is Jules' manager and all. We all know that fate has a way of kicking what you want in the butt and taking the wheel. I absolutely loved the ride of Jules and August and seeing how their story played out. Lux did an amazing job with Ripped and I expected nothing less! I highly recommend that you give it a shot!
What happens when you put a by the books manager and a hot as sin drummer in the woods for weeks on end where from the first meeting sparks have been flying? You need to read this book to find out.
I really liked the characters of August and Jules. Both on paper they're so wrong for each other but yet when they were together and put the claws away they are perfect. I loved that Jules made August chill out but yet August puts more structure in Jules life.
I also like that beneath all the bravado, Jules has a heart of a protector. He wanted to be there for August and have her lean on him. This was hard for August but I loved watching her give in and let someone else take the lead.
A great new read from Vivian Lux! This is the second book featuring the band Wreckage, on their way back out from the rubble of their former band and with a new manager to boot. August is out to prove herself with her job as the manager of Wreckage and doesn't have time for the distraction of a guy, especially a musician since her last relationship imploded. Julian is the drummer of Wreckage and August is a thorn in his side, or is she? I loved the dynamic between August and Jules, they bicker, pull pranks on each other and yet when August needs him the most Jules will do whatever he can to be there for her, proving that not all musicians are like her jerk of an ex. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Taking my one of my favorite guilty pleasures hate/love and all that fierce passion that comes with it adding in a British drumming jokester of a Rock God and the feisty controlled mother hen of a band manager and you get the explosive fast paced hotter than hades laugh out loud tale that is August and Jules! I could not get enough of these two, the angst and budding love that wove its way through this seamless storyline made this a one sitting cover to digital cover read that I was sad to see the end!
Vivian Lux writes some swoon-worthy, fantastic Rock Gods; this book is just more proof of her amazing talents!
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book. Another great book from Vivian Lux. They are now known as Wreckage and were reborn from the group Wrecked. Now working on a new album without their imprisoned former singer and all around bad guy. August is the center of her family. She loves her brothers but has to take the leap towards her dreams of managing a new band that she absolutely loves. But there is that one person in the band that sets her heart beating while annoying her to death. Then there is that vow she makes to never date a musician. But Jules knows that it would just take one best mistake to get what they both want.
Ripped: A Rock star Romance is book 2 in The Wreckage Series by author Vivian Lux. This is an awesome rockers romance story with lots of humor, hot rockers, very sassy and smart women, great characters and a splendid finale. This book is about the smart-mouthed manager of Wreckage, August Waverly and the energetic and cocky drummer Jules Spencer. The plot is outstanding, tear-jerking, bit of fun with drama, a lot of steam and a charming finale. I highly recommend this book. It's a stand alone but you definitely need to read them in order to get the full amazing chemistry and banter from all the characters. Can't wait for Niall and Hudson stories!!!!
I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review. This book deserves 10 stars! Jules and August were perfect for each other, which will have you feeling all kinds of ways! I wholeheartedly recommend this book! You can't go wrong one clicking it! August is the band manager of Wreckage. Jules is the bands drummer. They've had a mutual attraction since the first day they met. Neither have acted on it until they go to a middle of nowhere town called Bearsville, to record the bands new album. Will August getting involved on a more personal level with Jules be her "Best Mistake"?

Another great one from Ms. Lux! I loved reading Jules and August's story. They had such great chemistry, and the story was a good one. The writing flowed well, and the secondary characters were good. It makes you really invested in the story. August is used to being in control of everything, and sometimes that gets in the way of her being happy. I was a little disappointed in how she treated Jules towards the end, but was glad that they could get over that and be happy. I can't wait to find out what happens with the rest of Wreckage!
**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** The second book in the Wreckage series! Enemies to lovers romance for the British drummer Julian & bossy band manager August. Loved this story, dripping with smart remarks & antics between the two that cause each other to get underneath the other's skin & heart. Such passion & chemistry. Only quip with this is we don't see much of Jules's back story, it's more focused on August's side & while not a bad thing, it's too one-sided. But still a great story & can't wait for Hudson & Niall to get their own stories! Would recommend! :)
3 1/2* August has been hired to manage the rock band Wreckage formerly wrecked after Killian was arrested for assaulting his ex girlfriend the band had a shake up to re-invent themselves & she was appointed to help out after helping her ex Noah's band. The band now consists of Niall-bass player Ewan- guitarist (seeing cece her best friend) Hudson- new lead singer Jules - drummer & pain in August life, the chemistry & banter between them is hot. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book Nice story

A great addition to the rockstar romance genre! August is a super control freak when it comes to being the manager of a band. She also knows what it's like to be have her heart broken at the hands of a musician. That's why she resists Jules, the drummer of the band she manages. He's the epitome of a heart-breaker. But she's not quite sure she can completely resist. How can she when he's throwing out all the stops and showing her a side of him she never knew existed. This is definitely worthy of 5 stars!
I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story between August and Jules. Though they never really hated each other, it was fun to watch their banter and arguments to rile each other up, until the inevitable crashing together occurs. The story is a fast read, and while I loved the build-up in the first part of the book, the ending felt a bit fast. Overall though, Ripped was a great addition to this series, and I am looking forward to the next stories about the other band members! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
3 1/2 Stars - This Author has written some really good easy reading rock star stories and I was looking forward to seeing Jules & Autumn again. I think I was expecting more of an explosion between the two as started in Jagged-Wreckage Book 1. We did get snarky Autumn and annoying Jules and the story takes a not so unexpected turn towards the end but something was missing for me (including a character that was there one moment and gone the next). If you subscribe to Ms Lux's newsletter you do get more so I will look for the extra scene.
I knew she would be a firecracker....smart, savvy and serious until he knocked down her walls. Gotta love a guy who just challenges a powerful women but knows when to back off, leave her breathless, or fuc k her up against a wall. She is a force to be reckoned with and he does not back down from the challenge. But in the swoonyiest (is that a word?) possible. He's an asshole without actually being an asshole.
These characters are great...thanks for the bonus scenes. Felt like the ending was wrapped up too quickly.
This was my first Vivian Lux book and I loved it. I did not read the first book in this series, but will soon and did not feel lost one bit. August and Jules had a love/hate relationship from the first meeting. Being done with dating rock stars, she was just there to manage the band, but Jules had other plans. Their story will have you laughing and rooting as Jules tries to get August to give him a chance. ARC provided by author - this is a voluntary review
This series is brilliant. I like that the bad boys are actually good men. August is the new manager of the reworked band now known as Wreckage. They have a date in the studio and she has it all set up. Too bad Jules, drummer for the band and her biggest pain in the keister, is also out to mess it up. The story is great, the characters are likeable, and the rest is fun to read.
August made sure that she would never fall for a rock star again. But Jules came waltzing in all arrogant and so sure of himself, the walls she'd built around her heart started to crack. But lightening had also struck Jules. Sure at first they didn't get along more for not giving into the feelings they both were feeling. But soon try as they might, they couldn't stop and Jules had to a!me sure she was his.
This story was good but sadly the ending just wasn’t enough. Yeah the hot drummer of Wreckage is hot as sin. Jules is a rockstar, sexy and hot. The moment he meets that fiery red headed August sparks fly. This woman has a mouth as fiery as her hair but he wants her. They’re chemistry is off the charts. The story has a good pace and it pulls you in but the ending felt rushed and unsatisfying. I still recommend this book and I can’t wait to book three.
I love Rockstar books and this one was fantastic. I so enjoy the guys of Wreckage. Making an album, the guys are away in the woods recording along with their manager, August. Jules and August have this hate you relationship until maybe they don’t? I so enjoyed reading as they both discovered how they really felt about each other. Looking forward to more of the guys in the band.
RIPPED by Vivian Lux is a very good book. This steamy love/hate romance is hot, sweet and hilarious. August and Jules practically set this book on fire with their blazing attraction and sizzling banter. A well written storyline and a cast of entertaining characters make for a great entraining read. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
It feels like I never even got to know anything about Jules so I have no feelings about him. August really tried hard to avoid Jules in a personal way. It seemed that the story would drag along (the upstate time) and speed (right after hospital).
Still overall a good rock story. These rockstars were well behaved.
This is book two in the Wreckage series centred around the band Wreckage. This time it’s Jules turn and boy was I impressed! I loved the push and pull between these two, Jules and August. You could really feel the angst, the chemistry between them was woah! And the banter too was on point! Another great read by Vivian Lux, thank you.
