Tyler works hard to achieve her dreams despite her insecurities that force her to isolate herself from her peers and any chance at romance. This is how she likes it. So she certainly doesn't appreciate it when Dillan Weston, Mr Popularity and Fitness comes into her life, promising her a brighter, happier future, just not his heart. No, he'll give her all of him, just not his heart. So what is the point? Why enjoy a brief period happiness just to be left in the dust for a fitter, prettier version of herself? Is spending what little time she has with Dillan, pining after him truly worth the heartache it'll cause? Probably not though she'll likely do it anyway.
A. E. Murphy is the Queen of sarcasm and satire, she likes long walks in the park, as much as ice cubes like to chill in a roasting oven. She’s effortlessly independent and so good at adulting it’s unfair on the rest of the world. She only napped twice today and has only avoided the dishes for three days before making the child slaves do them this morning. Winning! Her favourite hobby is writing, her worst hobby is reading through that writing. Also she has two cats that carry toys to the top of the stairs and drop them down so they can chase them. They do this repeatedly in the middle of the night. Who cares if she has work the next morning? Not the cats, that’s for sure. And if it’s not the cats doing the waking, it’s the toddler crawling into bed with her and pulling individual hairs from her scalp with pudgy little fingers for comfort. This is likely why she’s in a constant state of grump unless there’s chocolate and coffee. P.S. Please leave feedback, if not on the book then on this ridiculous bio she wrote herself. It’s the least you can do seeing as she’ll forever talk in the third person now. Alex loves her readers. Alex says thank you. Alex smiles.
Disconnected is the kind of book that you want to go back and reread constantly. I felt the same way with the first 3 Broken books. So it really shouldn't be too much of a surprise.
Murphy takes normal crap situations and dissects them. She brings all the feelings to the forefront for you to dive in.
Dillan is a great character. He's a perfect mix of his parents Nathan and Gwen. He's funny, serious, strong and scared all at the same time. You want to love him and pop him in the head all at once.
Tyler is a teenage girl on the brink of womanhood. She has low self esteem and tends to be a loner. She doesn't realize her worth as most teenage girls don't.
This story is heartbreaking and beautiful. Murphy has the ability to rip your heart out and you still love every word.
You don't have to read the first three books in the Broken series to appreciate this story but I promise you won't be disappointed if you do.
Job well done A.E. Murphy! Can't wait to see what that brilliant mind comes up with next!
Disconnected by A.E Murphy is set in the Broken series world and follows Dillan who is Gwen and Nathan’s son. Although you don’t have to read the three books series to enjoy this book I think it would help put some things in perspective. Also this book is a romance – but it is also a drama. If any of you are familiar with A.E Murphy’s book you know it is never a quiet ride and you find yourself having your heart ripped out of your chest more often than not and all I can say is that this book is in no way different. I cried, I laughed, I loved and I grieved along with these characters. The story is told from Tyler POV who is a very lovely and relatable character. I was rooting for her from the start and have to admit she more than she ought to. The story is really well written and flaws very nicely. You never get bored and I was always eager to find out more meaning that I read way too long into the night. However I have to have a trigger warning here for – It is raw and written so well that it take your heart and rip it to pieces. In conclusion this book does not disappoint and is a fantastic continuation of the Broken series. I can’t want to see if Emily (Dillan sister) even get her own story because there is some serious potential there. Stars: 4/5
I was so surprised to find this book and couldn't wait to read it. Getting to know Dillan's character throughout the Broken series and to now get to know him even more now he's grown in his own story was so great. I think I love his character even more now even though at times he was quite an asshole. I was cussing at my Kindle. Lol. And we get to know his friend/girlfriend Tyler who starts out as this beautiful young woman with low self-esteem and goes out of her way to avoid people. All she wants is to get good grades and get through school so she can go on to college to become a midwife. I absolutely love Ms. Murphy's writing style. She able to make me feel as if I know these characters personally. I can almost feel the chart emotions coming off the pages. I laughed and I most definitely cried. Cried so hard I could hardly catch my breath. And an added bonus is we get to find out more about Gwen and Nathan and Emily who has also grow into a beautiful young lady and Nathan's mother Patricia. I can't wait to see if Emily gets her own book. I certainly hope so and maybe we'll get to know more about little Ashlyn the youngest of the Weston crew. I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE! And you should really start at the beginning of the series with Broken, Connected, and Forever. Thank You A. E. Murphy for another amazing story I can't wait to see what's next.
I CANT BREATHE... My heart hurts...it hurts so bad!! 😭 Yet again another heartbreaking, breathtaking story from one of my favourite authors. I've NEVER been disappointed in this authors incredible talent and this book is another outstanding addition to her already show stopping lineup! The book follows a now teenage Dillon (yup...THAT Dillon, Gwen and Caleb's Dillon!) and his plunge into first love. A beautiful tale with a heartbreaking twist. Definite five star read and a must read for all romance lovers! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
i loved reading dillian and ty story till they end where i was broken.. yes broken, i dont know what to do with my self now. this book and got a place in my heart, reading ty story made me cry and not just any cry i sobbed.
a.e murphy had out done her self with this heartfelt book full of twist and turns
more than 5 stars needed and one of my top 5 reads
How does Murphy do it. Her books pull you right into these characters lives. You feel what they are feeling. You go through everything with them as if it was you going through it, the happiness, the fear, the rage, the sadness, the utter despair. I loved this book so much. Wow
Ok where on earth do start with this review?? I was already beginning to feel like AE Murphy was becoming one of my top authors but after reading this book and feeling EVERY SINGLE emotion you can think of while reading I know she will always be a one click, I'm going to stalk her butt Author for me. I loved The Broken series so when I eventually realised there was a story for Dillan I jumped into it straight away and holy wow what a read it is... Dillan is strong.. confident.. funny.. loving and above all else the best friend you could want. Tyler is.. shy.. lonely... insecure and looking to get through school to leave her old life behind.. so when Dillan is thrown into her path it all starts to change for them both. As always with an Murphy read this story is not as straight forward as you think it will be with many bumps in their journey leaving you guessing on what will happen next. Sadness that gives you a lump in your throat and a heart beat going crazy one minute then smiles like your face is hurting the next this story has it all. I honestly cannot tell people enough please please read this authors books and do it now! *Read as part of KU*
Tyler isn't sure of herself, so when a cute boy wants to make her, his project she freaks out, but accepts.... It begins a beautiful friendship that has to weather stormy waters.
Dillon is blinded by insecurities and he makes dozens of mistakes but maybe this friendship was meant to test the sands of time and tragedy.
Warning, have loads of tissues handy, and try not to read late at night so you read each page to capture their HEA, Instead of sleeping. This was an emotional rollercoaster with tarnished broken characters who face real hardships and they do come out on top of it. This particular tragedy was very similar to one I've faced and although it reminded me of my grief it was also comforting.
A.E. did it again with a truly woven story that compels you to feel. If she ever wrote a romantic comedy you'd probably pee yourself laughing.
This story was both beautiful and heartbreaking but I loved it all the more for all the crying I did from chapter 24. Alex as become a favourite writer of mine and I look forward to reading all of her books and over the last week I’ve read a lot of them. If you’ve not read this book then all I can say is what the hell are you waiting for. You will need to start from Broken. An exceptional series of books truly loved them.🥰
I absolutely love this book. I'm not usually into highschool romance but since I loved the connected series i thought I'd give it a try, and you did not disappoint. I laughed and cried with them. This is an amazing book and It deserves to be a top seller ❤️
What a beautiful story of Dillan. How I love the Broken series (Dillan’s parent’s story) and I’m just so excited to have read this book. Highly recommended
So this is book 4 in the broken series and features Dillon, this is a real tearjerker so be warned but boy is Dillon a complete mix of Caleb and Nathan 🥰🥰
As a part of Broken series, there is no surprise that I love this book. I was a little disappointed with Dillon in one specific situation - I'm sure you will understand what I mean in the right time, but Tyler was amazing and you just can't not like her. There is a lot of drama, and all Murphy package that I love so much in her book. I'm glad she decided to write this story and I don't know why but I hope for some more of Gwen and Nathan... Maybe that's just excuse to have another reread? Anyway... Again... Thanks for another great book.
