I don't know how to rate this. In one side it was amazing the turn that Rin's story took, but I started to read this because this was a story about to brothers that, even when they were always fighting and were completely different, were always side to side and could always count on each other. What Yukio did... This is not what I signed for. I hope they get together soon and work all this out. I'll hate to leave this series that I like so much just because the plot twist made them enemies forever.

I'm giving 5 stars because of Rin 's transformation. That was AMAZING. That plot twist was just great.

YUKIO WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!????? NOOOO!

I mean, seriously, Yukio, why? I just hope that Satan is somehow influencing you or that Mephisto sent you to do this because Renzo is not getting further.

Rin? OMG. His transformation and his fight to continue being himself. *meep*

Also, Shiemi saving everyone with the forest! Wohooo!

Also, evil cliffhanger is evil.

I am all in for this plot development but I wish it had a little more emotional depth and a little more appropriate build-up to it. I cannot say it came out of nowhere, if anything it was a bit too obvious since Yukio was getting unbalanced and creepy for a while, but I think it could have been done with a little more sophistication.

Wh-WHAT?

(Also I got so caught up in reading that I didn’t notice a very large moth had entered my home, until I shifted in my seat and it took flight from its perch on my thigh. I screamed like a little kid and nearly peed myself)

The shit has officially hit the fan in this volume. The Gehenna gate is open with demons pouring into Assiah. I was heartbroken for Rin and Yukio after their already fractured relationship completely fell apart. It was hard to see Rin lose to his demon side even if only for a while. We got some more hints about Shiemi's powers and now to finally find out how Rin and Yukio came to be.

I did not expect things to go the way they did for sure. I was actually more interested in how the rest of the world is handling the growing appearances of demons, but it's also been a while since Rin has gained any more control or power/made actual progress on his quest, so hopefully how things turned out with both him and Yukio means the start of a plot arc that finally heads in the main plot's direction.

I really enjoyed the massive plot building in this one overall.

The main thing I don't understand though is why everyone is so eager to tell Rin his history, but refusing to tell Yukio.

There are two things I desperately want from this manga: Yukio to have some goddamn sense knocked into his thick head and/or Rin to realise how badly he's been treated by his brother, and Rin to end up with anyone who isn't Shiemi - preferably Izumo or Bon, purely for how their attitudes towards his powers have matured. That's it, that's all I want.

I did not expect this story of two brothers to become so twisted and complicated. Very excited to see where Yukio's decision takes him next.

Sht really hit the fan this volume!! Probably the best volume yet because of how things have fallen so far and have gotten up to this point. And even though, obviously I've been reading this story and understand what is happening, I still can't help, but think how have things come to this? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Holy sht.

So, after the intense events of the last volume, things become more intense as the gates and barriers that had been put on place by Mephisto shatter as he has been injured by a gun shot wound. Looks like the culprit is Yukio as he had a gun in his hand and was outraged that Mephisto refused to tell him the truth and everything he knows. Though, it's weird and sketchy because according to Shura she says that by the angle and shot or whatever, it couldn't have been Yukio. Idk, if she is just saying this to help Yukio or maybe it is true, but it doesn't matter as Yukio is taken into custody. And now everyone, and I mean everyone, the Exwires, Rin and the whole of True Cross know about Yukio's eye. And despite the grand e situation he is in, Yukio simply laughs.

All the while, Rin is determined to help his brother even if it means running away with Yukio as fugitives (aaaaahhhhh my heart!!!). So, with the help of his friends everyone goes to where Yukio is held and stage a plan to release him. However, despite the rescue, Yukio refuses the help. And thanks to Shima, fcking Shima, I hate him at this point; Shima called the Illuminati and they arrive in an airship. Ofc, Yukio decides that he wants to be strong and surpass Tin so he decideds to join the Illuminati.

But Yukio is not about to let his little brother go just like that. Rin is anguished and feels at fault at not having understood or tried to better understand Yukio. At the same time, Satan makes an appearance speaking through Yukio's eyes and after a sudden small scuffle, Rin's Koma sword is destroyed. Ultimatley, Shima and Yukio leave with the Illuminati.

Meanwhile, Rin's body is consumed and destroyed by his blue flames, ultimatley the full force of his demonic powers awaken. Being able to keep in tact who he is and fight off his demonic side, Rin awakens in Mephisto's room and he confronts Mephisto asking him to please tell him about his birth and origins. Mephisto gladly agrees having waited for this moment for a long time.

And thus, the volume ends.

I honestly, have so many thoughts. Honestly, the Rin and Yukio fight I was expecting this ch wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. I mean I had been expecting it and I knew more or less what would happen, but everything in the story had been leading up to this point, so...

Honestly, I can never hate Yukio for every decision he has made up until this point. I can understand and sympathize with him. He's a very complex and deep character. And with everything that he has lived through, the way he sees things. I can't blame him. The same way Rin has always viewed the world and how he avoided the truth of their birth and origins.

And let me just say. I can't stand Mephisto and Shima. Mephisto for being a manipulative basatrd and Shima for being a double crossing bastard. I don't know what he is playing at, urgggh. It annoys me how he is so friendly with everyone, yet he still crosses and betrays everyone left and right at every corner.

I really hope in the future we get to see Yukio bring down Todo and Lucifer and really just see both Rin and Yukio take down the Illuminati.

I very much look forward to the next volume and finally learning the truth!! I just hope Rin can hane it and that Yukio too learns it soon!!

The public is starting to “see” monsters! What the heck? At an emergency meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence, Lightning reminds them that Mephisto’s barrier is set to expire in February. When Sir Pheles arrives, he tells them they have to quit avoiding reality, then schedules a press conference for that afternoon. He has Shura assigned to him as security, and refers to her as the “beautiful boobalicious exorcist.”

At the press conference, the Prime Minister refers to “an anti-social organism,” as being the cause of the problem. Waiting in the wings, an amused Mephisto faces an angry Yukio Okumura, who wants him to admit he knew all along about Yukio’s flame, like his brother’s. But Mephisto refuses to rise to the bait and strides to the podium to inform the public of the existence of demons, only to be shot…

Rin watches the shocking scenario on the television and rushes to his brother’s side. Meanwhile, Shura is pointing out to the authorities who have scooped Yukio up that he can’t possibly be the shooter and they are allowing the actual shooter to escape! Thanks to Mephisto’s injuries, however, the Gehenna barrier collapses! Rin is struggling to make sense of what has happened, and why Yukio is so determined to know the truth of their birth. Is it possible he has inherited the Satan gene as well?

Rin goes to Yukio’s rescue and attempts an escape! But things do not go as planned, and everyone’s favorite double agent is on hand to add to the confusion. When the Koma sword breaks, will Rin survive?

All I can say is wow, just wow. So much going on here. It’s literally mind-blowing. I can usually tell how things will work out, but right now I can honestly say I have no clue. Yukio is undergoing his own personal trials, but so is Rin. Is Shima taking advantage of the confusion to press his own agenda? What is his agenda? I keep wondering if this is all an elaborate set-up, whereby Yukio infiltrates the other side. He’s got the brains and determination to do something like that. Rin, not so much. But I can’t tell. And what a cliffhanger too, just as Mephisto is about to spill the beans to Rin about his and Yukio’s birth.

What agony, especially not knowing how far away the next volume is. A riveting volume, a real page-turner, and one calculated to keep you on the edge of your seats! Please, next one soon!

It is so not okay that I have to wait like two months for the next volume. Yukio has gone off the rails and Rin is in the process of dealing with his newly unleashed powers. Shima is still on a tentative scale of good and evil. The plot is at a crossroads where the line between what is moral and what isn't is not very clear. I can see the main characters having to make really important decisions about where they stand in this war between the Illuminati and the Knights of the True Cross. Both organizations are corrupted in one way or another and I don't see any of them truly fitting snuggly into either side. I think that Yukio seeking power as aggressively as he is is just a reflection of his own insecurities when compared to Rin. I think that the rivalry he feels with Rin is going to be an overarching plot for the rest of the manga and I'm looking forward to it. It will make for a more interesting and heartbreaking story that brings a very human element to their sibling relationship. I really can't wait until the next volume!

Okay, so, some MAJOR EVENTS go down in this book, and there are several kind of shocking things that happen, and yet I found the action all so muddled and difficult to decipher, and I guess also I've just maybe gotten a little bored of the whole thing, that I just...didn't even care. I still really like Rin, and part of me is interested in seeing how his new situation plays out, but it seems like there's just...too much, you know? Too many characters, too many secret organizations, too many secrets, too many scenes of things blowing up, too many people getting shot in the head and then not dying...

I just really miss the old days of this series when it was basically about school and accepting your weird classmate once you find out he has a tail. And is, you know, part demon. Normal stuff!

Also, sorry for all the updates. I tweaked my back somehow and have basically just lain in bed on an ice pack reading comic books all day!

"Clean off those glasses and take a good look!"

"From my point of view, you're the perfect one!"

Never have I ever wanted to punch, kick and slap a character, lol. Yukio frustrates me so much. He literally refuses Rin's help. And to top it all off, he's suddenly power-hungry. Since when did that happen???

I honestly wasn't expecting Yukio to shoot Mephisto, let alone shoot him in the head. I was beyond shocked when he shot Rin in the head too. Also, Rin's "transformation" was sort of cool. He went from black hair to white I think. Pretty cool hair change I guess, but I'll miss his dark hair.

The public starts to see demons and this puts enough pressure on the Prime Minister of Japan and the Knights of the True Cross that drastic steps must be taken.

Sir Pheles, Rin and Yukio all get major moments in this one, and the series scale plot jumps forward by leaps and bounds--we get more information about Satan himself, and his plan for the brothers, the Illuminati, Pheles, Rin, etc. Marvelously done with a fight that beautifully balances plot and character.

So get Yukio giving his final choice and it is very reminiscent of Sasuke's arc from Naruto and I feel that this was better built up as this storyline started towards the start with Yukio constantly questioning everything about himself, the True Cross, and even the Demons. And I do like that it feels like were are entering the final parts of the story as the portal opens and it feels great seeing such a huge change.
