This accessible text introduces students to the subject of ordinary differential equations through a variety of applications. It covers first-order differential equations through to non-linear differential equations and systems.
My first book on differential equations. Overall I thought it was good. Any of the problems that were linked to an article I attempted to do but a lot of them I just gave up on. Even reading the original journal article is just outside of my mathematical ability to understand right now. I stopped doing problems at the very end of the book which focused on programming numerical methods and a brief introduction to nonlinear differentials. Although not required for most of the book, it will behoove you to have a good basic understanding of linear algebra focusing on determinants. Your basic algebra should be very good as this book starts phasing out basic steps when solving problems later on assuming you picked it up by now. My basic algebra is way better after going through this book with things like partial fraction decomposition skills stronger than ever. I can only remember one problem where I would not have figured it out ever without the help of the answer key to guide me.
