A novel for readers who love veteran navy SEALs and romantic suspense - wounded alpha heroes who can only heal with the love of a good woman and a small-town ranching lifestyle. However, that happily ever after cannot be achieved without some serious danger and intrigue!
A vulnerable woman trying to rebuild a broken life. An ex-Navy pilot traumatized by war. An obsessed stalker bent on revenge. What could possibly go wrong?
Jo Williams has learnt the true meaning of fear. Desperate to escape a tragic past, she has fled her native New Zealand for Cornwall. But her hopes of building a new life and moving on are soon shattered. Only enigmatic publican Will Fletcher stands between her and certain terror, but he too is a man with a dangerous history. Can Jo trust him, despite his secrets? And is it true that only the wounded can heal a broken heart?
Jo, I found to be slightly confusing. Her strength, determination and sarcastic banter is very admirable. Her battle with her demons, understandable. But that's where my understanding ends. She wants to take charge of her own situation but she seems to constantly fall apart. And her reactions and decisions are very dodgy. I found Will to be a strong character. He's very interesting and very likeable. He clearly had an attraction to Jo and eventually acted on. I got lost with him trying get a handle on his anger issues. It was a very well written story, but It didn't have as much heat and action as I thought it would've.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for my honest review."
EBB TIDE by Leah Murray is well written and left me on the edge of my mental reading seat more than once. Jo, the book’s heroine, is from New Zealand but has recently moved to Cornwall, England to evade an abusive boyfriend. In the process of running from a criminal crony of said boyfriend who has also accosted her on the beach, Jo is hit by a car on the street and injures her shoulder. This accident happens close to a pub which is partially owned by the driver of the car, Will.
Will and Jo form an immediate attraction as he makes sure the injury to her shoulder is taken care of and they begin to spend time together. He notices a vehicle parked outside her rental house as he leaves the pub in the early morning hours and offers her the protection of staying at his house. Jo is slow to talk about the danger she faces from her previous boyfriend and Will has secrets of his own. They slowly trust and share with each other the traumas each has dealt with and Will’s family and friends get to know and like Jo, with her having an overall positive effect on his life.
These are two interesting people who have led full lives of danger and sorrow that find comfort and joy in a relationship together. The suspense is well done and real. I highly recommend this book to all who enjoy this genre.
I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
I was hooked from the very first page. The way that Jo showed such strength and courage even after everything that she has been through was truly inspiring. She struggled through the past but she fought it, it did not define her it made her who she now is. When Jo and Will be they have a chemical attraction that is so obvious, but their past is still haunting them both. This book takes the reader on a journey through a very suspenseful path of hurt and destruction and at the end of the path will their be happiness or will the evil win out over good? Will and Jo must fight together to live, and to find each other. Thank you Reading Alley for allowing me to read this book and write a honest review.
Voluntary review of an ARC. Truly one of the best books I've read in quite a long time. The characters were believable and engaging, the romance was first rate, the suspense kept me turning the pages quickly, and the story was very interesting. The magnetism between Jo and Will was apparent from the start, but past secrets provided much friction. Nice hea. I look forward to reading more by this author. Highly recommended.

This is one of those terrific stories that hold you entranced from page one! Suspenseful and so chilling I read wrapped in blankets and gasping and squirming far late into the night! This kept me on the edge of my seat and was definitely worth the lost sleep.... a must to read!!
This book captures your heart from the first page. The chemistry between the characters leaps off the pages. The storyline keeps you from putting the book down until you finish in. Makes it a great story any day of the week!
Ebb Tide is a well written, highly suspenseful romance. From the opening chapter to the end, the reader is caught up in the current of fear experienced by Jo. I was also affected by Will's dark moods and sometimes surliness and felt worried that his bad temper would destroy what he had with Jo. Cornwall is known for petty crimes, not murder. The first murder in 49 years took place near the tiny village of Truro in 1998 and still has not been solved. So for the village of Looe to experience stalking, murder and general mayhem was way beyond anything within living memory. Fortunately Will is not without skills and despite his moodiness, he is nevertheless able to give Jo the protection she needs to keep safe. Apart from the suspenseful side of this book, both hero and heroine are suffering from the after effects of violence with flashbacks and guilt permeating their lives. While I couldn't personally relate to the traumas experienced by the main characters, I nevertheless found them believable and understood their reactions. They had so many difficulties to work through, but as always the key to dealing with pain and loss is communication. This book ended on a highly satisfactory note with justice having been served. I was also relieved that Jo and Will survived the ordeal and that their romance had a chance of becoming reality. The flow of language in this book was good, with my only complaint being that the story often switched between scenes without warning, and I had to read a sentence twice to figure out what had happened. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
OH MY GOD!!! I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It was a fantastic story that gets you hooked from beginning to end. It has great characters, you have Jo, the beautiful veterinarian that used to be a happy-go-lucky and carefree person and now she's on the run from her ex and is filled with terror and anxiety a shell of her former self. You have Will, the new friend who's broody, handsome, brave and will stop at nothing to protect her, then you have Jack the bat sh!t crazy, seriously scary psycho ex boyfriend who will really creep you out and keep you on the edge of your sanity waiting and wondering when and if he will show up and what he'll do because he'll stop at nothing to find her. It's a great, fast paced, page turning, stay up all night (like me) kind of book. I highly recommend it, you will not be dissapointed. I voluntarily read for an honest review an Advanced Reader Copy of this book which I received for free but I would of happily paid for it!
