The trees and the mountains know your name. It doesn't matter how far you go, the wind will carry their voices softly to you. They will remember you and whisper for the rest of your life, but when it's time to come home, they'll tell you. They will insist that you do, and life has a way of directing you back. There is nothing that will remember you quite so well as the mountains you ran away from. It's been fifteen years since Bobbie fled her small hometown . . . and her abusive mother. She lived another life in Manhattan, one of hard won privilege and relative ease. Now, she's returned for the only thing that could have dragged her back -- her mother is dying. Seeking some sort of solace, Bobbie tries to find a way to deal with this and the new joys and tragedies she faces upon her return. But she doesn't bet on meeting her childhood crush, and the temptation to stay in the hills that haunted her. It's time to face new challenges and old demons. There are devastating heartbreaks along the way. Reunited with her childhood love, can either of them find the secret to fighting together instead of fighting each other?
This is one of the rare self published books which are really well written and have a serious literal touch to it. I loved the farmhouse and country atmosphere this book created. I loved the dialogue and the writing style painting accurate pics before my inner eyes. This was a wonderful read!
I am an avid reader. This book is so detailed with feelings that it really touched me. I admit I usually do not write reviews. To not write a review for this book, would have been a disservice to the author. Highly recommend!
Very heartwarming story. Tells the life of Bobbie from childhood through adulthood. I think I cried more reading this book, than any book I've read in a long time. Couldn't put it down. It keep me wondering what would happen next. Very talented author. Highly recommend it.
