It's a marketing brochure. Certainly, this book is not a nonfiction book, adhering to nonfiction book writing techniques. The author employs the well-known rhetorical tactics of money of get-rich advisors, like starting out by writing three times "This book ISN'T for you, if..." * Next, Walsh Phillips advises quickly, "This book is for you if you are in love with Facebook, you hate Facebook, or can’t even spell Facebook." Please, give me a break. Will people who can't spell Facebook, a compound word consisting of two basic words that are taught in K-1, succeed at anything? Not likely. Almost every adult from around the world can spell this word, for starters because 2.07 billion of them log into Facebook at least one per month. And, Walsh Phillips carries on to recite 12 more times, "This book is for you if..." * The notion having the urge to explain who a book is for is already weird. Millions of books get purchased every day and the buyers know why they buy these books. * Also, I am so tired of "I was broke and then I invented this system now I am a millionaire" stories - it's a sales pitch. a) There is no proof that all these people were broke - ever, and b) Why do the people mention their financial status? Maybe to appeal to other who are broke? (Just wondering) * Walsh Phillips was so broke that she worried about getting evicted (homeless with her new born daughter). BUT THEN: "Then, I read a sentence... In one year of putting this system into place, my company grew our revenue 327%. Hmm... How much exactly do these 327% amount to? if Walsh Phillips was really so broke that she could not pay her rent, either it wasn't much financial value to begin with or the "possibly getting evicted story" is not true. Either way, it's not a pretty picture. * The Game Changing System starts 19% into the book (so, the author wasted my time... That's not a nice approach). The author begins by featuring a comment from her Facebook group, which she advertised 7 times in this book, up to this point. The commenting party posted "Sure, its hot but 10,000 fans is ridiculous." A second person commenting, replied "Bots." The authors replies, "No bots." @Commenting parties: Nope the author doesn't need to use bots. She advertised her group 7 times so, guess what, that's where the 10,000 fans are coming from. This book is listed with Kindle Unlimited, hence, my best guess, she gave it away for free for 5 days, some people click every link and join every group (You did too.) That's how she got 10,000 likes. At Kindle Locations 571-572, the author claims her postings got more viral sharings, which is not true. I saw dozens of postings that were liked between 2 and 46 times. 46 is 0.46% of 10,000. That's hardly convincing. 2 likes are even less convincing. "... Suddenly my posts all had more interaction, including “viral sharing” without having to spend any money on advertising...." Not true, she explains that she buys FB ads. * At Kindle Locations 701-702 the author claims, "Every time someone likes your page, it shows up to their friends and family." This is also not true. When did you see that a friend of yours liked any FB page? Years ago! Since then, FB changed its modus operandi. * At Kindle Locations 724-726 the author advertises her online course, Want to get 10,000+ Fans in 72 hours? Join me live for this FREE training I thought that's what the book is about. Hmm... * More stories from people we don't know... but no program till 49% into the book. Finally, 54% into the book the authors gets to present her idea. Long story short - you have to buy Facebook ads. This amounts to investing money into the system of an author who publishes a book whose first half presents absolutely no content. I am not saying that it can't work but I am saying this book does not convince me. * The way I see it (and apparently quite a few others readers) this book is a marketing brochure for the author's courses as well as some of her friends' courses. Stopped reading 63% into the book, leafed through the rest. Time is money I feel I should put it to better use. 2 stars Gisela Hausmann
If you're in a hurry you can grind out the meat of this book in about 10 minutes. The rest of it is anecdotes from people who have benefitted from the tactics the author details. The book itself is a little heavy on self-promotion, but there are some usable tips if you're interested in adding a bunch of Facebook fans to your business page.
This book while helpful seems to have a lot of filler. Basically un- useful information. I think this could have been a great pamphlet. It might just be me, but 5hats my opinion. Sorry!
This is valuable, actionable information from a proven expert and gifted teacher.
I gave this book a five star rating because it is actionable and rooted in solid direct response marketing that gets results for your business.
Social media is seductive. It can take your time and money while getting no actual results or making sales.
But yet social media is the online coffee shop. It's where people hang out, share ideas, express opinions, talk about what they love, what they hate, and what's the latest.
Kim tells you how to enter into that online conversation and gently offer people what they want, and turn that conversation into sales for your business.
If you think marketing is all about vanity and image and how great you are, you won't like this book. But if marketing is about providing value to people who need what you have and getting them to trust you for all the right reasons, then this book is the single best place to start.
There are tons of marketing gurus who will give you theory, but what do you do with it? Kim's book is rich with good theory, but she shows you how to get started with those first baby steps, so that you experience those little successes that will make you feel good and keep going.
You should also read this book for the interviews with people who have made things happen, people like Rich Shefren and Shaun Buck (the Newsletter Pro).
You also might not like this book if your sole focus is to impress your boss or your shareholders, unless your boss or your shareholders are focused on providing real value to a carefully selected niche market.
But if you're an entrepreneur, that's your job. You can't be all things to all people. You have to narrow your focus to your most profitable target audience, people for whom you can provide real value and get actual results.
Kim shows you how to define your audience, find them where they are hanging out, and start a conversation that leads to a sale, and another sale and another sale.
What else do you need to know?
Don't get taken in by the culture of "fluff marketing" that will only waste your time and money.
And one more thing... Kim teaches you what social media will NOT do for you. Typically social media is NOT the place where the sale is made. But she shows you how to start the conversation on social media and then continue the conversation elsewhere via email, website, etc.
Formula: Social media + direct response marketing = money and success.
Buy the book and get started. Stop wasting money on marketing ignorance.
Lots of waffle surrounding about 10 pages of what you're actually reading the book for. An interesting technique which I will try :-) I'll update you with progress as and when. UPDATE it does work! even with a £5pd test :-) very impressed :-) and I only launched the ad 4 hours ago :-)
Not a good strategy unless you are interested in the vanity numbers. While book was an ad for the program webinar. Book should be free of its actually a pitch.
