Wings #2

Beneath These Wings

Rate this book
Tresa was taken by the aliens, but she escaped. Changed. Powerful. Terrifying.

With the only thing she has left in the world – her dad – and her little nomadic band of humans, she battles the very aliens that made her into the creature she is now, using the powers they gave her.

She is a formidable opponent.

When she meets Roman – angry, sullen, and yet loyal above all else – they are forced to come to a compromise to keep their teams alive. They don’t like each other, but it’s tolerable.

Almost.

Danger is something they live with on a daily basis. Starvation, fear, pain. But there’s a darkness coming they can’t prepare for, something that will threaten to tear apart everything they’ve built.

There’s something coming for that darkness, something far more terrifying than Tresa.

Never trust beautiful things.

Highly addictive, emotionally thrilling, action packed and extremely gripping world saving adventure filled with danger, mystery and charters you can't help but cheer for.

Tresa is a human that was altered by the invading aliens and has escaped captivity and now fight to save what is left of humanity with the very strength the enemy gave her (she is also Phienox's sister from book one). Roman is the surely, angry and cunning leader of a group of humans just trying to survive in a world overrun by an enemy trying desperately to wipe them out and is reluctantly agreed to team up with Tresa and her group to combine their strength. Very entertaining late night relaxing in bed read (if your really don't want to sleep anyway right)

I loved this!!

This book is written from Nyx's sisters point of view. Nobody has seen Nyx, presumed dead so with her dad and a small group, they are trying to survive which us hard when everyone you come across views you as an enemy. Tresa might look like a bad guy but actually instead kills them and along the way meets a distrustful Roman and his people. If you like the previous one you will love this!

Fantastic read

I'm really loving this series. Teresa is Phoenix's sister taken by the Garcen and experimentation by a Phy. She doesn't have wings but the ability to jump between shadows. When she and her team of survivors find Roman and his team the two butt heads, however they agree to work together for their group's survival.
Will their alliance hold when a new enemy comes for them.
Can't wait to read more books in this series

DNF @ chapter 6

Look, this isn't a bad book. I just don't have the mental energy to push myself through right now. Sadly, this was another book I believed I would enjoy way more than I did.

Cons:

-The writing is decent, except for when it comes to dialogue. For example, the banter between Tresa and Roman comes off forced and just awkward. It's obvious these two are going to be a couple later. I love when characters are a little snarky or bicker with one another, when it's genuine, but when it feels forced just to get a reaction from the reader or hint the two are going to hook up later, it falls flat.

-My other problem was something I usually only suffer with with books told in multiple first perspective POV's. The book is told in third person, but we switch between Tresa and Roman every other chapter and it feels jarring. I don't know if it's the writing or just me, but it makes it difficult at times because just as I settle into one character, the new chapter flings me into the others shoes.

-I don't know why Roman acts the way he does? Everyone has been through shit in this story, but here's Roman, who acts like he's had it worse than anyone else. Again, I love my mysterious, dark brooding characters. But being an utter ass -- to your own people and those who saved your butt, mind you -- and implying his horrible past is why he is like that, is just eye roll worthy. Stop using someone's past just to excuse nasty behavior.

Pros:

-I skipped the first book, because 1) I heard there was a bunch of unnecessary drama/angst and a supposed love triangle and 2) because it looked like this could be read without needing the first one. I only made it six chapters in, but I think this could definitely be read as a stand alone. I didn't have any problems keeping up or knowing what Tresa and the others were talking about.

-The premise is a interesting one. Aliens invading? Meh, nothing new there. However, how this author does the take on aliens is creative and unique. I really like what she did here.

-Tresa's powers are awesome. The ability to move through shadows? Hell yeah! She's also a great leader for her people.

So again, this wasn't a horrible book or anything. I might pick it back up again at a later point. But right now, it's just not keeping my attention.

Love this series, and totally loved this book! The whole premise for this series is totally awesome and unique! I love dystopian stories, and I love alien stories, and I love Wendy Knight's writing! Tresa is just as kick butt as her sister Nyx from the previous books! Lots of cool action! You should check out the previous books before you read this one, but this one does standalone on its own, but there will be some spoilers for the previous books. Tresa was captured by the aliens and experimented on, so now she's a hybrid between 2 alien types, but luckily she escapes. She's part Garce and part Py. The aliens are very deadly, and it's a day to day struggle to survive. It's also a struggle to feed themselves. Tresa believes her sister is dead, so she doesn't see any reason to return to her hometown. Tresa and her group run into another group of survivors, and they decide to team up, but Tresa doesn't receive very much of a warm welcome from their leader, Roman, due to her being part alien. I loved Roman! I love his gruffness, and he is just adorable! The enemies to sweethearts scenario works great in this book, and I love the whole I don't trust you because you have alien DNA now thing. I was so excited for the storylines to converge in this book! I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more story focused on Tresa and Nyx, and I didn't feel the connection between Nyx and Cole in this book. I actually feel more disappointed with Cole's actions from the previous books, when I see how wonderful Roman is, and that Cole's actions have caused more problems for everybody. I need more groveling! Alright, I'm just being mean :-) So anyway, love this story! I want more!

* I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own *

This is the story of Tresa who after escaping from the aliens when she was taken, she is now changed and much more powerful.
Tresa and her father are leading a group of humans to safety while battling the aliens on the way, when they meet up with another group of humans who are not as trusting.
Roman has become the leader of his group and has been trying to keep them safe for three years now, but there food scource is getting very low and is is getting harder to go out and scavenge for food when a Garce or Py are trying to kill you.
When Tresa meets Roman he doesn’t trust her at all, she has the tattoo of the Py and the power to go with it so how can he believe that she won’t betray them to the Py.
Roman is a loveable character when you get to know him, but for a long time it has just been him trying to stay alive and keeping his sisters and the group of humans who have joined him alive to, so when Tresa and her group arrive he is not sure what to think, when he sees what Tresa can do, he does decide to train her so she doesn’t use her energy source to quickly. There is an attraction there but in they do make a good team and can lead together to keep both groups alive.
This was a great story in the “Wings” Series by Wendy Knight and look forward to the next instalment.

Words can not express my feelings for this book. First of all, I love all of Wendy's books, but this one is my favorite! This one hits so close to home for me and pulls at my heart strings. The character Jeff reminds me so much of my father. The unconditional love he had for his daughters, his strength, his determination and overall being a bad ass. I couldn't think of a better way to honor him.

I also loved Tresa and Roman. The chemistry that those two had was wonderful. Even when they didn't like each other, they put their differences aside and worked together for the good of the group. They made an amazing team! Michelle and Kylie were great supporting characters as well. The love and loyalty they have for their family is beautiful. Kylie is really comes into her own and reminds me so much of Enika.

You meet some truly amazing people, you see some old friends and even some old foes. The story flowed so well, that it was like watching it all play out right before your eyes. Even though there is an alien apocalypse going on, it shows that you can still love your family and friends and you can get strength from those relationships. I truly loved this! Thank you for sharing this amazing gift with us Wendy!

Another Good one

I am so glad that I picked up this book. Wendy is definitely one of my favorite authors. While I haven’t loved every book, I have enjoyed each of them. She writes the wounded yet strong characters in a very real and believable way.

In this book she t was awesome to see the characters grow, and learn more about themselves. She always has a great cast of supporting characters. This is a great book about finding hope, and treasuring happiness in the most difficult circumstances.

Definitely worth reading.

A shadowy read!

She was taken by the aliens, but she escaped... Changed...
Powerful...
Terrifying...

First thing to say, I read this book years ago but I see my review is not here.

Secondly, omg, omg, I completely forgot that the author named a character after me! Eee! Wow, I still can't believe I forgot about it.

Lastly, this book was phenomenal (maybe, I'm biased since my namesake is in the book but don't care, LOL!).

Full of aliens, war, hybrid aliens, survival, danger, hurt, action, adventure and love.

Perfect for readers of dystopian romance/paranormal romance.

I really enjoyed this book! It was the last in the series, though honestly it could totally be continued if the author wanted. Still very good book. I love the dynamic with Tresa and Roman. Course I'm also a sucker for the broody sneak up on ya romance. It's refreshing for it to not be that insta love kind. I recommend this series. Was pretty action packed and kept me on the edge!
