Rate this book
Crimson A Bowhunting Odyssey by Eyad Yehyawi  Crimson A Bowhunting Odyssey is written from the heart and soul of a bowhunter. Spanning three decades of his adventures, Eyad Yehyawi takes you through the emotions, heartbreaks, and successes from his earliest years in Iowa, to physically and psychologically challenging backcountry hunts in Alaska and Canada, to a breathtaking African safari. Every setback and missed opportunity is revealed, along with the rewards earned through hard work and perseverance. Through these 27 stories, Eyad defines his passion for the outdoors, including the disappointments and mishaps, sleepless nights and tears, and a few instances where death comes calling.   With intense descriptions of his surroundings, animal behavior, and imposing weather conditions, Eyad engages all of your senses as you share his adventures. Whether you long for giant whitetails and spring gobblers, are passionate to pursue mountain goats and moose in Alaska, dream of wading across the tundra for caribou, hope to stalk musk oxen in the Arctic, or aspire to trail a horse-killing cougar in the mountains of Alberta, you'll find stories here to inspire you.

I found this book very interesting, I know nothing about hunting, so I learnt a lot about the sport and it appears that the writer is very passionate about it. I like the fact that the story is based on real life, I found myself flicking back to the pictures every so often as the writer did an excellent job of describing the events that took place. Even though I had a vivid picture in my mind, it was great to actually get to look at what he was talking about. For example, the bow hunting experience sounded pretty intimidating, and the pictures convey exactly that. The writer appears to have captured a picture for every milestone, like when he caught his first buck in 1995 and his first archery longbeard. Hunting is a part of a family tradition and his children also become active in the sport later on in the story. This is a great book, I highly recommend it.

A great read for hunters and non hunters.

As a fellow bow hunter, this book touched a chord in me that very few books do. Like the author I grew up in a hunting family and have never known anything different. The stories he tells are stories not u like those I have lived. They are stories of sportsmanship and a passion for the sport. A deep love and respect for the animals you hunt and the ones you let get away. To see nature through the eyes of a hunter is a beautiful thing. It’s a massively misunderstood way of life and people like this who are willing to put themselves out there for any and all too see the deep love and caring hunters have for the sport and how it is passed down from generation to generation that make me proud to be a part of this amazing sport.

Listeners’ Comments
“I liked the narrator. He sounds very manly, perfect for a book of this nature.” Male reader, aged 58
“Interesting! An excellent book for hunters looking for tips or simply a good read. The narrator is excellent too. He speaks clearly, emphasising words where needed. Very enjoyable. The content might not be for everybody, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.” Male reader, aged 33
“Being in England, there´s not a lot of hunting going on. Just the odd bird shooting; all very tame. So it was interesting following this fellow on his hunting adventure. All the ups, and considerable downs, the sleepless nights, the setbacks. But he just keeps on going!” Male reader, aged 61
“A solid performance from the narrator adds vigour to this interesting story of being a hunter. It´s very simple, no sound effects, no music, just a clear, strong narration.” Female reader, aged 47

To Sum It Up:
‘A superbly put together audiobook with a clear, easy to understand narrator. A FINALIST and highly recommended!’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards

I’m not a hunter of any type, but I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It is written as short, adventure stories that all have a common theme. The author has a very descriptive writing style, and I could visualize the setting, whether in a field or in the Alaskan mountains. I felt anticipation, disappointment, and excitement along with Eyad as he told stories of his hunts around the world. Highly recommend to hunters and non-hunters alike.

Surprisingly it kept my interest

Crimson Arrows is a book that has a narrow target audience but actually is enjoyable to many. I am not a hunter (my husband loves to) but I enjoyed the stories the author told of his hunting adventures. I was never bored and nothing felt repetitive. The author’s writing style was very easy to follow and engaging. I like how personal it was too: sports talk, parenthood, etc. I’m definitely going to pass this along to my husband to read.

Great read

Eyad's stories are vivid, and compels you to move to the next. He does a great job telling how passionate bowhunters are to continuously improve, and become true sportsmen.

I am not a hunter but the authors passion for his craft was infectious and thoroughly enjoyable. His descriptions of his surroundings and the thrill of the hunt let you escape into his world with him.

Some parts were very interesting other bits not so much. Lots of the trips are on organised ranges/ranches. The writing has it's moments but is largely underwhelming.
