Book One There are exactly one hundred halls of magic to choose from. Ever since our parents were killed I knew exactly which hall was for me.
Aurelia "Aurie" Silverthorne is one of the best and brightest to ever apply to the Hundred Halls, the only magical university in the world. To be accepted, she must pass grueling trials that claim the lives of aspirants every year.
But more than her desire to practice magic is at stake.
Aurie's little sister has been courting powerful forces in hopes of protecting herself from the beings that killed their parents, but alliances come with complications. As things spiral out of control, and dangerous foes arise at every turn, Aurie knows the only way to protect her sister is to pass the trials—even if it means making a terrible sacrifice.
Book Two Whoever controls the Hundred Halls, controls the world.
Aurelia "Aurie" Silverthorne has high hopes for her second year in the Hundred Halls, the world's only magical university, but her expectations are destroyed when she accidentally unleashes a plague of faez-eating thralls and spends week after week getting killed in the Grand Contest.
But none of this matters when Aurie learns that the Cabal searches for a powerful magic that will help them get control of the Hundred Halls. If Aurie can't stop them, then passing her classes will be the least of her worries.
Book Three In the Hundred Halls, students experiment with all manners of magic: catoptromancy, lexology, verumancy, rune spells, demonology, shape changing, and a thousand other arcane techniques. Every magic is encouraged. Every magic, except one—soul magic.
As Aurie's third year begins, students are found without their souls, ripped from their bodies, leaving them empty husks. Someone, or something, is stealing them for a nefarious purpose. With that kind of power being collected, not even the professors are safe. If Aurie and her sister cannot stop the soul thief before the end of the year, the Hundred Halls will never be the same.

Kindle Unlimited, I found it too slow in places, to repetitive in others, and contradictory in other sections even a paragraph or page apart. Had to force myself to finish reading through, it was that...whatever. Liked the premise but the execution for me was missing...things. Still, promised friend would read all the books so 1-3, 4, and then what usually do is review the sets and individually. Was 3 1/2 which means have to decide to go lower or higher so went with erring on side of higher rating.
Collection {3} Covers Book One, 2, and 3; starting out with 100 halls to choose from at the magical university, Aurelia "Aurie" Silverthorne is one of the best and brightest to ever apply to the Hundred Halls, while her sister has been courting powerful forces in hopes of protecting herself from the beings that killed their parents. Book Two focuses on 2nd year, and more on whoever controls the Hundred Halls, controls the world. The Cabal searches for a powerful magic that will help them get control of the Hundred Halls, and if they aren't stopped, passing classes will be the least of anyone's worries. Book Three is more focused on all manners of magic: catoptromancy, lexology, verumancy, rune spells, demonology, shape changing, and a thousand other arcane techniques, and every type is encouraged, except one -- soul magic. As her 3rd year begins students are found without their souls, but for what purpose and how much power is being collected, and not even professors are safe.
Trials of Magic (The Hundred Halls Book 1) Web of Lies (The Hundred Halls Book 2) Alchemy of Souls (The Hundred Halls Book 3) The Hundred Halls (Books 1-3) Gathering of Shadows (The Hundred Halls Book 4)
An interesting, new adult & college fantasy. Aurelia & Pythia Silverthorne are about to embark on the education of their lives. This bundle takes them through the first three of five years in The Hundred Halls, the ultimate academy for young mages. During their first year, they learn about the existence of The Cabal, a group of power-hungry school patrons (leaders of the individual halls). Each subsequent year, The Cabal makes their lives more difficult. Overall, this bundle seems intent to whet the appetite to continue reading. While entertaining, it's not easy reading.
Action-packed. Entertaining. Great world building. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I really liked these books! Then again, I'm a fan of magical worlds and I enjoy the academy setting, so I was easily drawn in. I thought the world-building was done well; the setting and history of the world were fleshed out and detailed. I found Aurie and Pi to be wonderful protagonists - so different, yet both with such strength and relatable challenges. I also really enjoyed a number of the peripheral characters, such as Zayne, Semyon, Inari,... even Professor Mali... and I hope to learn more about some of them in the future books. I'm on to book 4 now!
I really enjoyed the first three books and plan to buy the other two. I love the fact that it's two teenage sister on their own and their relationship with each other as they try to get into the Hundred Halls of magic academy. The development between the sisters and their interaction and struggles to learn what happened with the mysterious death of their parents keep the story moving and that's just the beginning. Its quite a journey and I love the adventure they are on. If you want a good set of fantasy books that's teen related and fun to read you'll enjoy this set.
