In 1854, just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, became pastor of London's famed New Park Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian, John Gill). The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey Music Hall. In these venues, Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences numbering more than 10,000—all in the days before electronic amplification. In 1861, the congregation moved permanently to the newly constructed Metropolitan Tabernacle.

My childhood was happy, but by the time of my teen years, the advent of adulthood fast-forwarded me into the unrest of sin.
But we are programmed by God for stable happiness. What happened?
We fell.
Instead, our lives are filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, and a sense of dissatisfaction. We are lost.
But the faint beginnings of Grace, if tended, can flower into spiritual stability - which is what heaven intended.
Grace is the ladder to paradise. Dis it as sentimental and we are indeed lost again…
Well, the adults did just that. My neuroleptic meds then led me back to a dismal world.
Following my medical prescription while praying for Grace, I have avoided the deleterious Void of meaninglessness.
I became an exception to the rule.
How? By praying constantly, as the apostle Paul enjoins us. By rejecting outright the tinsel thrills proferred by the Prince of Lies.
By following the abstract summons of the Spirit of Grace through the towering, pathless promontories of the Paraclete.
Honestly, without the sweat, blood and tears of heartfelt prayer I'd be lost again.
But now my 75 years have yielded the fruit of the happiness I sought -
And All of Grace!

I've never read a better book about the Christian faith, and having a B.A. in Biblical Studies, that's quite a few. Charles Spurgeon writes skillfully, explaining the deep issues of God with simplicity. I came to the end of the book and found myself very sad to leave his fellowship through the pages he wrote.
I recommend this book for all Christians, especially those struggling with their faith.
I also recommend this for those seeking faith, or God, and those hungry for a true spiritual or religious experience.
I'll be reading more of Charles Spurgeon!

“Who would or could have thought of the just Ruler dying for the unjust rebel?”
C.H. Spurgeon was a great Christian preacher and thinker—there is no disputing that. His classic work, ALL OF GRACE, is a deeply worthwhile read for any serious, practicing Christian.
One of the highlights for me was chapter three, titled “God Justifies the Ungodly”. It is absolutely brilliant. Spurgeon’s logical, deductive reasoning is both simple and powerful, offering a fresh lens through which to view the grace of God.
Spurgeon also excels at using illustrations to clarify his points. His ability to communicate profound theological truths with relatable imagery shows why he was such a powerful preacher. The book is filled with examples of these illustrations, which enhance the text and make it easier to absorb.
Another standout aspect of the book is its treatment of faith and its role in the Christian life. Several chapters focus deeply on this theme. These sections are thought-provoking and invite repeated study. They challenged me to reflect on my walk with God.

As my first Spurgeon read right through, I've simply fallen in love. The way he combines his wit, analogies, theology and solemness all together in order to present the gospel is just wonderful. The book's message is simple, but so beautiful that it will stir any reader to awe (or at least it should). Spurgeon's heart for evangelism is on full display on every page, and he writes with such passion that its moving and contagious. I could honestly read this book over and over and still come away as encouraged, joyful and worshipful as when I first finished it. After all, the gospel is pretty timeless isn't it?

This thin volume is addressed to every reader—whoever they are, whatever they are and whenever they are. This was Spurgeon’s “earnest word” of the availability of salvation written in 1885. And it’s very much on target today.
The updating and abridging was done without removing the oral-presentation rhythm of the man to preached to ten thousand every Sunday (without amplification). His sermons had to be logical and easy-to-follow. They are.

This book is great, but this review is really to unveil a clarified rating system. Not enough disparity
1 star- this book is bad. A waste of time. I probably didn’t finish it. Would avoid
2 stars- not a good book, a lot of problems or just not enjoyable or well-written
3 stars- I’m glad I read this book, but probably won’t take the time to recommend it
4 stars- this is a great book and I will likely recommend it periodically
5 stars- this book is a favorite and a personal classic. I will regularly think about this book for years and think that most people should give it a read

I've wanted to dive into Spurgeon's writings for a long time. I wish I hadn't waited this long.
This book is definitely going into my top 10 favorite books of all time. Finding the words to explain how God used it in my life recently is impossible, so all I can tell you is to go read it. Spurgeon is very readable (or listen-able, in my case), and every Christian should follow his gentle leading through the Gospel at least once.

Very easy study to read. A very gospel centered that it was all about the greatness of Jesus and the Lord's redemptive heart towards his own. He deals with the sin that entangles us by showing us Jesus. He reminds us that the Lord knows very well that we cannot change our own heart and cannot cleanse our own nature, but he can when we submit to him by faith in Jesus. With faith comes repentance. If repentance is missing, then your faith is short lived and on shaky ground. Repentance is our turning away from sin to Jesus. Repentance becomes a lifestyle because we are daily bombarded with sin. Faith is made up of 3 things..knowledge, belief, and trust and in that order. Faith cannot be a blind thing because it does require a knowledge of who God is. His attributes. Faith is the mouth which feeds upon Christ. After reading his study on faith, I want to learn and experience more in my life. One of my favorite quotes...Repentance will not make you see Christ, but to see Christ will give you repentance. So the question is are we seeing Christ..does it cause repentance to swell in my heart. I think out of repentance, comes pure holy love that is unconditional. It is worth thinking about.

I wish I could give this one million stars. If you have never read a book by Spurgeon, I urge you to do so. His writing is so moving, so convicting, so beautiful, it did not leave my heart unchanged. He writes about the gospel in such a way that it brings it to life right before your eyes. It is no wonder he was called the Prince of Preachers. I am so thankful for his ministry and the way the Lord has used him in my life.

Yup. Everyone who wants to understand a solid fly-by explanation on what the Bible teaches about sin, salvation, and Christian life and growth should read this book. Spurgeon writes as if to a new friend who he dearly loves and wants to come with him on his pilgrimage to glory.
It's like Spurgeon's version of Lewis's Mere Christianity. (Or should it be, Lewis's Mere Christianity is mirrored off Spurgeon's...😉)
Though it's written primarily to nonbelievers, even as a long time believer I found so much to give me hope, encouragement, and knowledge about what it means that salvation is by grace.

All of Grace is a short but meaningful book that is infused with so much Scripture throughout. Although his primary audience is anyone who has not yet come to Jesus, Spurgeon shares much encouragement for those who have ever wondered, “am I doing enough to be saved?” Or questioned the certainty of their salvation in anyway. I love how Spurgeon expresses truth bluntly but also so often in ways I’d never considered before.

Spurgeon, aside from Lewis and Schaeffer, is one of my favorite authors. Though known far better for his rhetorical skills, (and being called the "Prince of Preachers"), he is just as good with his pen. "All of Grace" is basically a biblical analysis on the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice, and the need of "sola fides", no works. He uses life experiences, stories, and of course, scripture to back up his case. He also addresses issues in the hearts of "sirred" sinners, and uses, once again, his own life issue to back the case. (Horatius Bonar's famous tract, "How shall I go to God?", is a good work to read with this book, being on the same subject.)

I need to let these truths wash over me DAILY. I admittedly err in the belief that the Lord is only just and so often want to fight that the Lord actually delights in covering our wretched souls in grace. It is His very desire. Ohhhh how deeply I need this reminder, hour by hour.

Profound and succinct.
Spurgeon's prose is a mixed lot. When he is truly writing he's clear and moving- especially his analogies and metaphors. However he seems to oft-times have preacher's synapse misfire and he goes on a long soliloquy which tends to be mired in high king James neo poetry.
As far as the subject: I'm no expert in Christian eschatology and the nuances of particular denominations so I find critiques based upon these grounds to be focusing solely upon the trees rather than the forest for which was presumably Spurgeon's intended audience.
Grace is the hallmark of Christianity. And yet it never seems to be foci of the church. Of course there are many notable exceptions, yet grace seems to be something that sort of happens. Spurgeo suggests otherwise. That it is the central glue of faith, redemption, and repentance. He successfully argues that through grace repentance has meaning; independent of grace it's merely a knee jerk reaction to our present predicament.
This review is grossly unfinished and certainly does not do this work the justice it richly deserves.

Perhaps best read as meditative-devotional material, All of Grace is less a direct unfolding of doctrine along a progressive rationale and more a well-packed traveler’s knapsack loaded with “all the necessities” for a pilgrimage into the heart of Christian theology. Some chapters may sound altogether too basic, yet in others Spurgeon illuminates many familiar notions with his exceptional gift for metaphor and analogy. The talent for religious writing that is displayed here seems to come along only a few times in a generation. Finally, it should be noted that this book bears the unmistakable stamp of Reformed theology, and the reader is likely to find Spurgeon’s concerns engaging to the same degree that he is engaged with the Doctrines of Grace.

This is not a book for the perfect. It is not a book for the easily offended, it is not a book for the atheist and it is certainly not a book for those without need of help. It is, however, a book for those who find themselves in need: In need of a Saviour, in need of happiness or in need of a better perspective. If you find your heart in a need of a kick start, or if you don't, read this book. It has passion and zeal by the bucketload, but perhaps most importantly; within its cover is a good old kick in the behind. Quite frankly; if you don't think you need to read this book, I can practically guarentee you it's precisely the book you need. I know I did.

"An earnest word to those seeking salvation". I read this at just the right time -- I was a young but growing Christian grappling both with guilt over sin in my life that had not disappeared and with the temptation to put too much stock in my own increasing efforts in ministry. Spurgeon was a breath of fresh air as he reminded me that salvation is "all of grace".

Should read/listen to it over and over for reminders of God’s grace and the beauty of Christ. As Spurgeon says, “Faith comes by hearing. therefore hear often”.

I highly recommend this book by the great preacher Spurgeon. The title says it all, "All of Grace." This is a short, simple look at the Gospel and how you may be saved. He is earnest in his call to "Come to Jesus!"
I enjoyed listening to the audio on my walks and it was encouraging but I found myself coming to the end of a chapter and going back to listen to it again! I will need to read the hard copy so I can mark all my favorite quotes.
I think you will be encouraged to read this little book.

Beautifully written book by Spurgeon that gets to the heart of every believer. Too often I have seen believers with a surface level understanding of grace rather than a deep, heart-wrenching understanding; Spurgeon portrays the latter in this book. I appreciated his explanation on the heart change when the Holy Spirit works in us to bring us to our knees as we cry out to the Lord, mourn (heart-broken) over our sins, repent and TURN from those sins/past, and finally resolve of amendment in the future. Another “must-read” for every Christian in my opinion.
